Picked up takeout from here kind of randomly, and ended up having some of the yummiest takeout Mexican food I've had in a while. Was immediately wowed by their huge menu! They have so many options, including a cubano that I'll definitely be trying next time (because there will definitely be a next time!) I tried 3 tacos--garlic shrimp, the shrimp and adobado, and the fish taco. They were all amazing, and the price is hard to beat. The combination fried rice was also really great, especially for a Mexican food joint. Also had their cream filled churro, which was delicious. I'd love to eat inside here next time too, the ambiance is neat, and it felt like a great spot to eat some food and have a beer in. Or one of their yummy looking margaritas! I've seen this location when I was waiting for my drivers license and had been curious to try it. After seeing their notice about the 99 cents fish tacos, my interest was piqued. Walking in the place to order would be for to go orders. I decided to be different than my usual take out orders and dined in. Took a seat at the bar, ordered the street tacos without pico de gallo mainly as I don't like tomatoes. Got a fish, pork adobada and a carne asada street taco each. Where I sat, got to see the kitchen at work. Plus got to smell the amazing marinated meat. The location seemed quite kid friendly as the paper decorating the table was perfect for kids to draw on. The fish taco tasted alright. The sauce did nothing - to me it was one of the top deciding factors that determines how the fish taco would come out. Sauce wasn't that exhilarating or anything that made me go "Mmm!" Fish was battered and fried - tender when you get to the middle but that was it. My favorite was the pork adobada taco. The meat which tasted like it got marinated in the flavor was tasty! I do wish they added something else in it as I go it without pico de gallo, I was just eating meat and the tortilla. Carne asada ...didn't leave much of a impression on me. May be back to try the others as I am curious about the rest. But the fact that I don't like tomatoes - and the pico de gallo made it kind of hard for me to enjoy the street tacos. I used to eat here years ago and remembered it on the way to work! The meat is utterly disgusting. My burrito was literally filled with meat that smelled rotten and old. I took one bite and was done. Took it to go rather than embarrass anybody--threw it out immediately. Your MEAT is the core of your business. If meat is expensive buy the expensive brand and raise your prices. What you have in the kitchen is an absolute horror show! I understand inflation and rising costs but quality should never be sacrificed--EVER! I had a Surf and Turf burritio. I think they must have put half the Pacific Ocean in it. It was so salty I threw away half of it. In spite of the salt masking the overall flavor it really was not very good. In fact the smell when I went in the door to order was so bad I almost walked out, but I decided that the smell might not be indicative of the flavor of the food. I was wrong. I went out to look for lunch on a Thursday with a friend and he showed me this place nearby. I don't know why I haven't tried this place before, but now I have a new place in the area I can go to for Mexican food. I got the Adobada Burrito (without rice) ($7), and I also checked in on Yelp for the free Fish Taco. Both are pretty good, and the burritos are actually a lot cheaper than at other places, even though they're about the same size, though maybe slightly smaller, but I still got full from just half of the burrito. The seasoning on their adobada is pretty good, and I would definitely come back for more of it. The fish taco is a small street taco, but the pieces of fish that they use are pretty big. One piece of fish fits on the entire tortilla, and you have to take large bites to get everything in your mouth. One taco obviously isn't enough to fill you up, but it's a decent size for being free. The only issues that I have with their burritos is that they are very loosely folded, and they slather a lot of sauce (guacamole and sour cream) into the burrito that it's always oozing out with every bite that it overpowers the meat inside. The burrito was pretty hard to hold onto, while trying to keep the contents inside the burrito. With so much sauce and liquid inside, everything was just leaking out through the cracks at the bottom and I was left with damp fingers smelling like adobada. Despite that the food is pretty good and everything came out pretty quickly. You get a good amount of it too, and service was fine. I would come back to this place if I'm ever craving adobada and don't want to drive too far. read more

Stopped by here for lunch after waiting at the DMV for Taco Tuesday! We ordered carne asada tacos, fish tacos, carnitas tacos, and chicken tacos. They were a good size for the low price! This is one of those places that we never think of going to but when we do go, we wonder why we don't go more often. If you are ordering to go then you place your order at the register. If you wish to eat there, they will bring you a menu. They can get busy but just be patient because it will be worth the wait. Their burritos are humongous! I'm not kidding, I only finished a quarter of my Carnitas Burrito and I had to tap out. It was filled with carnitas, rice, guacamole, pico, and I added French Fries because why not? All for $6.75... quite a deal considering my daughter ate my leftovers for her lunch the next day. And it was delicious. They have a pretty extensive menu including some Fried Rice dishes. I am sorry but this place, I can not believe how horrible the food are. The chicken taco - the chicken was probably boiled and all the juices drained out. It was DRIED! The cocktail has no taste despite the fact I added like 3 limes to it! The California burrito has to be worse in the whole Poway area! The chips are $1 (I have no probably paying) but the salsas, left me crying. They can't even get the salsas right. We only came because the DMV was such a long wait. I felt downright horrible leaving this review, but I read the reviews before I came. It seems like a decent place. Had one of my employees call and order some fish tacos. " 2 separate orders". 1 order of 10 tacos with a side of rice and beans. 2nd order 5 tacos with chips and salsa. Fish tacos are 99 cents. They charged me $1.89 per taco because we ordered 10 or more. why? I didn't order the 10 tacos lol not only that but i was the second order so my order was 5 tacos and they still passed the 10 taco fee to my tab.. why? Also, I ordered chips and salsa. They gave be a bag of chips. No Salsa guys? This place has super delicious food. I had the Cubano sandwich and it was just as delicious as the one I had at a Cuban restaurant in Miami. Both times some of our party had tacos and some of us had other items. I haven't personally have the tacos yet but the other three in my group love them. Last visit two of us got quesadillas mine had meat (carnitas) the other one did not the one with the meat I found to be a little greasy it wasn't really my favorite quesadilla. They are a good size and a reasonable price. They come with orange mild cheddar cheese and maybe that's part of why I wasn't impressed. I've had the elites, which oddly is on the dessert menu, and we enjoyed them although again not the best Elotes I've had. On a previous visit I had flautas and I did enjoy those. The menu is interesting they also serve variations of fried rice and like a chow mein style noodle dish as well as some sandwiches so there's a real variety of food. One friend had the Cubans sandwich and liked it. I think that might be one of the things that interests me and I expect to try more dishes as we continue to visit. Overall, I like it. When you enter you seat yourself and a server comes to take your order. Restaurant seats about 50 people I would guess. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the fish tacos, carne asada tacos, shrimp tacos and a side order of fries. All of the tacos were big portions for the price and were delicious! The fish was crispy and the toppings were plentiful. The carne asada was a bit chewy. The grilled jalapeños definitely had a kick, but that's how we enjoy them. Highly recommend stopping by taco taco if you're in the area. They have quality food at a great price. They have $.99 fish tacos every day for eat in and $1.50 fish tacos if you get them to go. The California burrito is delicious, however it comes with rice which is a tish odd. I like to order the rice on the side. Their green salsa is delicious, I like to mix the red and green together. I liked this taco more than the fish taco as this one was heavily battered and not much fish in the taco. I rather pay more to get more fish and a better tasting taco than to pay less and eat cabbage with batter. If your in the area for the dmv or Walmart or something I'd check this place out.
