Bulgogi, Galbi, Lengua, and Goat Tacos
Steven T.

I got their Galbi, Bulgogi, Lengua, and Goat Tacos. The two Korean fusion tacos I had were good, but nothing really amazing. I think their more traditional tacos were the thing to get here. The Lengua in particular was super moist and tender and was my personal favorite. When I went, inside was very dark, almost like bar, which was kinda odd.

Pretty cute place and an interesting set up. I think I saw some slot games in there. Someone comes by and brings you a menu. I opted for the Birria Tacos and the Elote. Food was pretty quick but overrall a little underwhelming in flavor. It was decent but bit as flavourful as I would have liked it to be. We both also ordered a draft beer which came in a large 23 oz for only $7 which was fantastic. Service was okay otherwise and not sure if I'd be back to try their other items.

Burrito - Carne Asada with Black beans and white rice - came with sour cream and 2 sauces

OMG ! You have to come and try Taco Ssam by Annandale. My search is done! I ordered, Burrito, Ssam Box and Tamales , sorry No Taco's :) i will start with the tamales and it is amazing! Super satisfied, brings me back to the tamales lady who shouts Tamales ... along the streets of Montebello. Size is a little small for 1 serving, good thing i got 2 and that for me is perfect. They have only 2 kinds - the pork and chicken. Guaranteed super good! Next - Carne Asada Burrito - is Huge !!! ... just missing the salsa - close to my cravings like super close!!! You got choices of protein - 2 choices of beans and 2 choices of rice. Among the places that serves Burrito they're like 4.8 (well because of the salsa) The Ssam box came as a super surprise - it's again super good. Serving portions are perfect for 1 person not recommended for sharing because it's that good you will finish the whole bento box! I love it because it's not salty , no msg I'm super sensitive to msg didn't feel anything at all- the flavors are there, like as what I'm expecting, it came with 3 corn tortilla , sour cream and 2 sauces ( the red and green sauce) Ambiance is well, never really paid attention since I ordered Take out and went to the grocery next door. The inside it kinda dim lit because of the bar. There's outdoor seating if you want to enjoy Annandale. Once you start eating its like for every bite is OMG - OMG - review is coming from someone who lived half her life in East LA. Surrounded by authentic Mexican Food. Now all i gotta do next is try their Taco's :)

Wow oh wow. I expected to see a hole-in-the-wall taco place when I came in here and it was a full bar and restaurant vibe with a ton of locals. The food was absolutely divine. Food 4.5/5 - We had the bulgoki, spicy pork, galbi, grilled shrimp, spicy shrimp, and barbacoa. I would say all of the tacos were a solid 4.5-5. Each flavor was distinct and i truly appreciated the amount of meat in each taco. The Elote was also great! Nailed ever flavor in the book. Lastly, the happy hour deals are great. I ordered a michelada which was refreshing. Service 4/5 - The service was solid and though the server was a bit confusing on the drink size order, the experience overall was great. Cleanliness 4/5 - The place will be packed with a lot of people, but I did feel safe with COVID issues. Ambiance 4.5/5 - A solid place to watch a soccer game or grab a drink and taco in authentic surroundings. I'll definitely be back!

Stopped by after work one day with a friend and we were intrigued by the unique menu and setup that Taco Ssam had. This was my first time seeing slot machines in a restaurant? Seemed like a few people were there to play. The menu was set up where you could order traditional Mexican food and then Korean fusion. There was a great variety of both options and the prices of tacos were pretty cheap ($3 per taco). SERVICE: 5/5 - FAST FOOD! Got our order within 5 minutes of ordering. I didn't go during peak hours, so the restaurant was pretty empty. The hostess immediately sat us down and would frequently check back on us throughout our meal. She was super observant! I didn't know that there was a lock code on the women's bathroom (men's did not have), but she noticed I was going to wash my hands and ran over to enter the passcode for me. FOOD: - Salsa & Chips: 4/5 - This comes complimentary with your meal, but I thought these were actually better than the tacos. The salsa wasn't too watery (which I despise). - Al Pastor Taco: 3/5 - I always get an Al Pastor taco whenever I get tacos, and I can say this is probably this was mediocre. There was a decent amount of meat, but I couldn't really taste or see the pineapple bites. Seemed like too much sauce for me on top. - Bulgogi Taco: 3/5 - I was expecting more out of this taco. Bulgogi is usually juicier, but the meat in this was very dry. If you're in the area, definitely check them out!

The food was amazing! So homie and filling and flavorful! I had a michelada it was delishhhh with the candy straw. The service was wonderful, very attentive friendly and welcoming. A nice dim homie restaurant.

A tiny Mexican/Korean taco joint in the same strip mall as Peking Gourmet Inn. We stopped here for lunch and I must say this place serves some solid tacos and Korean fare for not being located in Annadale. I was tempted to order a bunch of tacos, but I was in the mood for bibimbap and so I went with my gut. Great choice, pat, pat. It hit the spot. Lots of fresh carrots, cucumber, cilantro, cabbage with VERY tasty spicy pork and rice. Enthusiasts will be slightly disappointed as the rice was not traditional...not sticky enough, and the egg was slightly overcooked so there was not enough yoke to mix in. That said, for just $9.00 I cannot complain and the incredibly tender and well seasoned spicy pork more than made up for these deficiencies. Bottom line, Taco Ssam won me over on this first visit and I definitely plan to return. Oh, and by the way, they have a great list of craft beers, which many appeared to be available on tap. Even more reason to pay them another visit!

Hands down one of the best tacos I have had in the DC area. I was in Alexandria area for my workout so I decided to try this restaurant after my workout. Checked yelp and found this restaurant to have some great reviews. It's such an amazing idea to combine Korean and Mexican food. They have similar style of cooking the meat but with different flavors. I have been a huge fan Korean food not so much Mexican so I was very excited to know that this place serves combination of Korean and Mexican. Spicy pork and beef bulgogi are two of my favorite Korean food so I ordered those two along with grilled shrimp taco. Spicy pork was cooked to perfection with the right amount of spiciness to it. Although they have various Mexican spicy sauces I actually did not need any. The tacos the way they were prepared did not need any add ons to it. Beef bulgogi was my favorite of all three. Taco was packed with lots of flavors and it also came a side of turnips. Price is extremely nominal. Restaurant is very clean and service is great! Parking is easy to find. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're bored of traditional Mexican food.

Love the street tacos. The food is good and fresh. The seafood was good. Very economical too with their lunch and happy hour specials. Service is good. The ambiance is great and sets the mood for the food.

Yes, Yes, and Yes! The environment of this place is perfect for tacos, margaritas, and beer! We dined in and our waitress was super helpful. She helped us with choosing food options and which sauce to eat each item with. I really like they have 5 different salsas you could try. My favorite was the salsa they served with the chips and the salsa verde (the green kind). All of my tacos were delicious and my favorite was the barbacoa. I could have eaten 10 of these! The fish taco was delicious as well since it was so tender but had a list crisp texture from the batter on the fish. I wasn't really a fan of the tamale, it was a little too bland for me. The fiesta bowl was absolutely amazing and its great for anyone on the go. We had the rest of the bowl for lunch the next day. The bowl was huge but they could have added a little more meat compare to all of the rice.

We said heck yeahhhh, so the decision was made AMBIANCE: Big space, pretty empty as we were one of the last people to eat before they closed! They were very accommodating-- letting us know their kitchen closed at 10:30 PM and the restaurant closed at 11 PM. When we arrived, it was 945, so we weren't looking to play around. We knew what we were gonna get. Onward we went SERVICE: My girl Arieles (PRETTY sure that's what her name was) was our server! She was so sweet and got us our stuff promptly. We knew we were coming in late so we weren't gonna waste time, but she was joyful to serve us regardless and I appreciate that. So many times people are FED UP, and it shows, to be at the end of their shift (and I get it), so it was nice to have someone of good demeanor to host us! FOOD: We ordered brisket, spicy pork belly, spicy chicken, and spicy bulgogi. First time trying the spicy Bulgogi for fear that it was gonna be TOO spicy and it was not at all! To reference -- I thought the kimchi was a bit spicier than the bulgogi! So try it, flavor is amazing! Can't wait to come again. I hadn't gone to KBBQ in a long while!

The delicious smells hit directly into our faces as the front door was opened. This looks like a popular neighborhood establishment. We were greeted and seated immediately on a Wed. evening. The setting is a bit dark with neon lights and table booths with their BBQ grills arranged around the restaurant. It did feel a bit tight for my legs due to the way the BBQ grill was set into the table. Service was great. The person attending to us helped explain the menu, how to order and decide on which proteins to be brought out. He would occasionally pop over and help grill our meats when we became too busy talking instead of cooking our meals. We ordered the All You Can Eat Option A and you are given 1 1/2 hr. to eat, don't know how strict they would be with that. Unless you are truly hungry, I would order an à la carte dinner instead of the all you can eat option. I particularly enjoyed the thick cut pork belly, steamed egg and spicy tofu stew. There were a few small portions of Banchan to go with our meal and you would need to order additional side dishes of noodles or rice dishes separately from the all you can eat menu choices. There were tried and true hearty portions of meats to grill and it was quite filling. Nothing extraordinary but tasty and a nice place to visit on a regular basis if you want a satisfying Korean meal.

When we arrived, we mentioned it to the staff and showed them the post, and they were happy to apply the discount to our check. The food here is fantastic. The variety of Korean side dishes were all delicious. We ordered the soybean paste soup, corn cheese, and steamed eggs, and each one was spot on. In addition to the menu items, they have a buffet area with different types of food to choose from. The thinly sliced brisket was good quality as well. The layout has actually stayed the same throughout the years. Gogi Friends has a really good deal on Korean BBQ in the NoVA area. With the basic AYCE option, you still get to order 1 piece of premium meat per person. Meat quality isn't premium like Ingle or Meokja, but it is passable. They have unlimited sides and limited buffet type of foods available. I thought everything was good especially the small kimchi pancake. The brisket was quite good along with the marinated short rib. Those two types of meats were all I tried and honestly that is all you need. The grills had to be changed after every round of meat, but the workers were very quick about replacing it. Their corn cheese, egg, and soup were also pretty good. The restaurant can hold a decent number of people and large groups as well as smaller groups. They had a special discount for healthcare and military workers for 10% off. Basically, covers the tax. Service was also good and quick. At the end, they gave a small ice cream. I would come back again as this is a good deal in this area for a $36/person dinner. Lunch is $25 per person during weekdays 11 am -3 pm. Lunch on weekends and holidays for $28/person.

If I were to compare them with clothing brands, the top tier restaurants would be akin to Hermès: impeccable, yes, but you're refinancing your apartment just to sit at the counter. Takumi is Ted Baker: genuinely refined, quietly stylish, and doesn't require a second mortgage to appreciate. The fish is flown in fresh daily. There is no cream cheese within a 50-foot radius of this kitchen. No yum yum sauce. No roll named after a questionable life decision. Just pristine fish doing pristine fish things. The menu is tight -- bento boxes, focused apps, nothing that needs a paragraph of explanation. The fried oysters and squid tentacles are mandatory. Non-negotiable. Do not test me on this. Then the subtle flex begins: yuzu, truffle, shiso placed with quiet confidence, mango puree that sounds wrong and tastes right, an Old Bay finish that would make Maryland weep with pride, and a Kalamata olive that has absolutely zero business being this good on a sushi menu -- and yet. This is a kitchen that knows exactly what it's doing and doesn't need your validation.
