The Taco Shack has been around for years and easy to taste why! The food is freshly made,flavorful and not salty! The lady at the counter,Claudia,was so helpful and made the experience so terrific! Yum! My husband and dad found Taco Shack this past weekend while we were in the area, and it's delicious! I enjoyed a carne asada taco and a carnitas taco. Love that you can get flour tortillas instead of corn if you want. My husband enjoyed the queso-taco. I also enjoyed the green salsas. Service is great, the owner is super friendly and had a nice conversation with my dad! Ambiance is your typical mom and pop taco shop. I would recommend! read more

Food quality has definitely changed with new owners. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito which had very little bacon that was both super hard and flabby in different pieces. It had a very burnt taste to it all also. I also got a carnitas downtown taco which had sooo much fatty stringy parts in it with almost every bite! Come on! Used to be a favorite but sticking with Cuca's now. Staff were nice and even though I ordered pickup at 11:15am, it was ready at 10:50am when I got there early. I took it home otherwise I would have gone back up to the counter and let them know these issues. Loved the way the previous owners cooked everything! Always hot and no hard, fatty, stringy stuff in carnitas. Sorry but probably won't be back, there are other better options. read more

Call before you come to make sure they are actually open. I came at 8:10pm on a Thursday evening and they were closed. Even thou it says they close at 9pm . The Taco Shack, located in Redlands downtown, is super convenient to get to, and they have off-street parking. This is a big deal in downtown. On this particular day, the weather was great and there was ample room between other customers on their shaded covered patio. We particularly like their Carnitas tostadas. The Carnitas by itself is somewhat bland, but it is still moist. You can see from the picture that the tostada is ample size and is made with fresh ingredients. The fried tortilla bottom has the right amount of crunch. (A tip is that the fried tortilla can become soft from the Carnitas, so when we get them we immediately place a fork under one side and tilt it. This lets the juices drain away from the tortilla - thus keeping the crunchiness.) The meat, lettuce and tomato have a good bite and chew. T he salsa and pico de gello really pulls the tostada together. I like to combine the mild red salsa with their pico de gallo (while very fresh and vibrant, doesn't have much heat). read more

We live in the Redlands area and are still on the hunt for a good burrito. We ordered carnitas, al pastor, and a birria burrito. The first two were quite good, but I don't think I can call the birria one, a BIRRIA burrito. The meat was so dry and tough. If you know what birria is, then you know the meat should not be tough or dry. Felt like I was eating beef jerky. So I forgot to take photos of my food... because I couldn't wait to dig in! I ordered the al pastor burrito. Every ingredient in this burrito was fresh. Fluffy rice, smooth bean filling, and plenty of al pastor. I didn't order this personally, but I tried some of the menudo that my parents ordered. THAT was the dish that hooked me. Not everyone is a fan of cow stomach, but this dish might change your mind! Well-cooked cow stomach in a bright red broth that is absorbed by each piece of cow belly . I'd recommend getting limes on the side because the soup is even more delicious with a squeeze of lime juice. Customer service: fantastic. Esperanza was really nice and she went above and beyond with her customer service. She even gave my brother a free bowl of fruit since he was celebrating his graduation this weekend. Having had many beans and rice in the past, I stopped eating it a long time ago. This spot has REALLY good and soft rice and their recited beans were delicious. I don't usually eat it but I did eat it here and, wow! There were many great plate combinations and sides you could add to your meal. Wow ten years later and things change. I agree with Chelsea A, prices gone up and portions shrunk. The taste wasn't bad, but have had better. It does get crowded at lunch time, it's the local spot, but it just doesn't do it for me us. Parking is limited, but you'll find it on other streets and might have to walk a little. And as times have changed, so did the people who patronize it. The cozy quaint feel wasn't there or maybe it's just the times (the latter). Anyhow, customer service was good. I pulled a more enthusiastic review from about a year ago. The reason being I've had better Mexican in all sorts of places and this didn't feel authentic enough to return to. It felt like American meets Mexican, which is silly in California. The best place I tried has unfortunately since closed, INES TAMALES. The second best I've found is LA FAMILIA in Loma, although their ambiance is just okay. It's a shame they can't take over Taco Shack's location. The only other contender is HUICHO'S on California (?) but they didn't have proper AC running and I think they were using a swamp cooler, which makes things smell 'swampy' and isn't really that cool. So the quest continues for the five star Mexican find. read more

My wife and I have been coming to taco shack since they opened years and years ago. We used to order their tacos, tostada's, and burritos. Unfortunately today will be our last time. New owners, new staff, and NEW taste. The hard shell tacos used to be deep fried upon order. Now the new owner is using premade wholesale bought shells that have almost no flavor. Overall the food has almost no flavor and feels a lot like a fast food place rather than a family owned Mexican food restaurant. The service was nice and fast. But now we know it is coming at a price. We will be taking our business to Jose's or cha chas for the future. read more

Always good food and friendly atmosphere. This is one of my favorite spots in Redlands to grab some quick Mexican food for breakfast lunch or dinner. Their fresh salsa is fantastic, their fresh fruit is really good and a great alternative when you're feeling like eating something a little more healthy. Last time that I ordered breakfast here I had chorizo and egg burritos with potatoes... They were the bomb.com! I like this place... the servers are always very friendly. A couple of my favorite dishes here are the enchiladas served with the chili verde 'gravy'. I also like their breakfast burritos and the downtown tacos. Update: 9/11/19 I still like this place and I would recommend their daily specials (Monday - chckn flautas, Wednesday-Taco Salad, ect) however the prices on some items are getting out of hand! I paid $10+tax for a meat quesadilla one time, another time I paid, $8 for 3 taquitos and they barely get be you any guacamole! The food here is pretty good but come on there is a taco shop on every other corner in this area! I would not even consider this the best taco shop in town especially not at those prices. Apparently, these hours were updated 3 months ago, which is rather recent --are the employees just closing early or is there a legitimate hour change? Couldn't wait to get back here, it was so great about a year ago, ground beef burrito was tasteless and too much rice, if there were beans I couldn't find them.
