Waited over 30 mins for my food, then when they gave it to me, the server was very rude. Gave me two hot sauces for 7 entrees and then when I asked for a few more she handed them to me rudely as well, all the while I said thank you every time I received anything and was very polite. People who ordered after me left before I even received my order. The only reason I'm giving it a star is because the beer was cold. Was in the mood for something different and decided to give this place a try. Ordered me a fish taco (fried), "alpastor" taco and some carne asada fries. Let's start with the Alpastor taco which is the first one I ate. For those of you Redlanders who don't have any taco experience, alpastor is the bee hive shape, red meet you see turning in circles at a street taco shop. It is supposed to be one of the most flavorful types of meats there is. (Long story short on the alpastor here, it had no flavor). The fish taco batter was thick and the fish was nothing amazing. The tortillas were low quality (believe it or not there's different types of tortillas). Now the most disappointing part of my visit....the carne asada fries. Let's put it this way, while eating the carne asada fries, I wished I would have gone to DelTaco instead. The fries were the same ones they use at DelTaco but the difference is the ones at DelTaco have more flavor. I don't like fast food but this is what I was able to compare the carne asada fries with. This Taco Shack has a Awesome Location but the tacos were not Awesome. I got two Beef tacos and the tortilla was not even hot almost like they forgot to heat it up. and the juice from the taco just made the tortilla just fall apart. I was hungry so i just ate the meat but it was lacking flavor. It just tasted like unseasoned beef. Maybe I was there on a bad day. The good News for this place is their Location will keep them in business. Maybe the beer is good. The bad news is their food is missing that WOW factor. The Owner needs to taste his own food. My wife I ordered chicken taquitos, I a chile verde Burrito with beans only and a side of rice and beans. there were at least four more couples ordering after us and all got their food before us. 25 minutes later, the waitress/cashier gave us eye contact and said our food was taking longer because the cook ( the only one there) had to make the pork?! You'd think they'd have the common sense to let me know they were out of chile verde...we finally get our food, my wife looks in the bag and no rice and beans. I turn off the car go back in and wait for another couple to finish their order and the waitress has the cook whip up a quick order of Rice & Beans... We get home only to find my wife's taquitos are made with potatoes, not chicken...I think I found 4 small pieces of pork in my $8 chile verde burrito. I have never been offered " sliced deep-fried potato tacos before". My mistake was not taking a picture to show them to you.. I was so livid!! I've been here at least 4 or 5 times on different occasions and always had a pretty decent meal. Place wasn't too busy on Monday evening when my wife and I decided to grab dinner here ~5:30pm. I got the combination plate which comes with beans 2 items (I picked the Chile relleno and the downtown taco). I actually liked that there was plenty of guacamole on the taco and the rice and beans went really well with the Chile relleno which was spicy and soft. I also like that they have a salsa bar which has at least 4 salsas (mild to hot) you can grab as well as lemons, lime and sautéed jalapeños. My wife got a breakfast burrito with steak and added potatoes. Only downside was that it felt that the burrito has too much beans and not much meat. Great Mexican food right in downtown Redlands. I order their street tacos and breakfast burritos on an almost regular basis and both are always prepared excellent. Meat is always juicy and tender and prepared just right. Portions are alright, and burritos are especially a decent size. Definitely think this place is worth a try for anyone in the area. read more

This is for the taco shack on lugonia- The hard shell chicken tacos are very bland.. I wasn't excepting such horrible flavor. The hard shell tacos taste like they were either store bought or left out for a while. The salsa bar looked like it was old salsa, it was stuck to the side of the bowl and very dirty. I must say I am really disappointed in this place! I'm not sure what all the hype is. Went in to get some Fish Tacos and Asada Fries. The tacos were just ok a little bland and over full with cabbage and sauce leaving it difficult to eat and enjoy the one piece of battered fish which was over battered and dry! Second the Asada Fries where mushy, over filled with beans,and barely any Asada or cheese! They use Fries that are served at Del Taco which I must say the chili cheese fries at Del Taco are better. My review is for the location that is on Lugonia which is the address stated for this yelp page, I notice some people are reviewing the State St location which is causing a little confusion. The Lugonia location is incredible. My dad and I come in every Tuesday. My dad loves it because the girls who work there always remember our order and treat us special because we are regulars. Our order is pretty much always the same. He always gets six street tacos, three carnitas, three carne asada, and for me a bean and cheese burrito, tropical ice tea for the both of us. I have tried a couple other things like their carne asada torta, taco salad, and enchiladas. They are all very delicious but I like to stick to my usual. They also have a fruit bar which is always fresh. Sometimes we just order fruit to take home because its already sliced and convenient. To leave you with some of my thoughts on the State St location, I do not think their food is as good as the Lugonia location... maybe because a different chef? Also the service is not nearly as great at the State St location. Most of the girls that work there seem like they are so put out by your presence whereas at the Lugonia store we are always greeted with a smile and conversation. I do like the outdoor seating they have on State St and go there from time to time because it is close to my work and it is better than no Taco Shack at all. We came here for taco Tuesday last week and it was delicious. The street tacos were only $1.25 and they were great. Best were the carnitas and the chorizo tacos. They added refried beans to the chorizo taco and it was amazing. I also tried the potato tacos. They were very good. The atmosphere was welcoming and the servers were very nice and happy to answer questions about the menu. They have horchata and orange whip. I grew up drinking orange whip so I was happy to see that. There is inside and outside seating and they have a large variety of beer to go with your food. My wife and I are very disappointed with our order tonight. The chicken was nearly raw. The salad was soggy and not edible. We basically threw the meals away in the garbage.
