Beef Quesadilla

The food is very underwhelming for the price. $13 for two flat quesadillas and little to nothing else except some sauce is kinda crazy.

Birria Ramen, Consume, and Birria Burrito

Santa Maria Madre de Dios! In other words, HOLY MOLY! No wonder this place is called Taco Fuego, the food is literally hot like fire, but is it delicious? Lets find out! We pulled up into the location parked by the famous food truck park by the Galleria. This was late on a Friday, so there were tons of people in the area. One of the neat features about this truck, is that its open late (at least over the weekend). So you have the privilege to burn your tongue after 3am on a Friday. They have a neat menu with tons of options. Burritos, tamales, mini tacos, ramen, burgers, empanadas, goodness...this little truck makes its all. We were in a Birria mood, so decided to get the Birria Burrito, Birria Ramen, and a side of Consome to dip the burrito. All this came up to about 32 bucks, so this spot IS NOT CHEAP. Very pricey, guess you are paying Galleria prices. The service was descent, not stellar, but descent. Speed was the main thing that stood out to us. In about 5 minutes we had our food (most of the other trucks parked here, take about 10 to 15 minutes to get your food ready), so Taco Fuego gets props for the speed. Portion sizes were good as well, the burrito was big, and we also got a good helping of ramen and consume. Now lets get to the pain and suffering. This food was INCREDIBLY SPICY. I get that Fuego is in the name, but we didn't realize that the taste would be unsufferable. We can handle minimum spicey, but this level of spicey wasn't even enjoyable, it was pure atomic pain. It would have been helpful to know that all the food is made to taste like hot fire beforehand, maybe we would have asked to limit some of that. Due to this reason, we really didn't get to enjoy the food at all. You look at the food, and its burnt red. Birria isn't meant to taste like the atom bomb, so this was a huge bummer. Would not come back, but if you're a fan of burning your tongue, to wake yourself up after a long night out, Taco Fuego is for you.

I had been wanting to try birria tacos for a while and decided to give Taco Fuego a chance. I got the birria tacos, the fries, and the elote. The birria tacos were really flavorful, and they provided lots of consome for dipping. It was a bit messy to eat so have lots of napkins ready. The fries were also delicious and a great portion size (better value wise than the tacos). I would not recommend the elote at all; it tasted like canned corn with an old topping on it and was quite unpleasant. Taco Fuego is a food truck, so there's no place to sit. The food did take a while to come out and they forgot part of my order, but it was fixed quickly.

All ima say is don't order the birria tacos if u don't expect the pay for the sauce that is suppose to come to the tacos. $2.15 to be exact, food good but getting over on people for the small things, I will NEVER go back. And the birria is as soggy asf

Returned last night and was not disappointed! The quesaBirria at $3.25 a piece is flavor bomb. I'm not sure with the tub of sauce adds much more to the flavor.

Get the drinks, they are worth it!

I've been seeing the hype around this place on Instagram, and started following them on Instagram and have been determined to go ever since. The line is quite long, and it takes a while for the food to come out, because it is a taco truck and they make the food fresh order. These would be my only gripes come because the food is absolutely delicious. We got the tacos with the beef and the chicken... I prefer the beef ones, the dip just takes it over the top. My man loves to have loaded fries, so we got those and it was a generous portion, the whole white size takeout container size. I was not planning on getting drinks, but the limeade, the pomegranate and watermelon drink are absolutely delicious, and a compliment the flavours of the tacos very well. Definitely get those!! I am happy that the tacos were not super spicy because my spice tolerance is quite low, but again the dip has a great flavour to it, and We were able to enjoy our tacos in the car. They were put of a couple of the things I wanted, like the flautas, even though we were there early in the evening, but that just shows how they are popular and run out fast. Make sure that you ask for silverware and napkins, because they won't automatically give it to you, and I like to eat loaded fries with a fork so they were a necessity. Overall I would go here again but just be sure that you have enough time since the lines are long, as is the wait time, but it is worth it.

Texan Taco, El Gaucho Taco, and Fuego quesadillas. MUY BUENO!!

(From November 2020) I found them on my Instagram feed so of course it became a Taco Tuesday deal as I ventured to their truck. Do not be afraid of the poorly paved parking area and tight squeeze; this truck is straight up Dope! Went with the Texas taco, El Fuego taco, and the quesadillas. All were delicious and filing. You might be taken aback by the price but these items are large and will fill you up with goodness. Next time I have to do the birria quesitaco, ramen, and empanadas. Not sure why I didn't order them the first time since they were featured on the IG Post. Oh well. Definitely next time!

Some of the best Birria tacos I've ever had. Even the cheese quesadilla I got for my daughter was amazing. Picked it up as a quick snack but so happy that they are open until 3 AM because I plan on coming back tonight while I'm still in town.

Soggy and not crispy. Super red not your typical Quesabirria tacos.
Jacob R.

Very disappointed with this place. I have had Queso birria tacos in many places and the reviews for this place were off the charts. Tacos where soggy and super red.

Tacos Doña Lena

Allow me to be Review No. 1,100 following my visit to this wonderful culinary gem yesterday…read more By default, Spring Branch is Houston's Koreatown, but it's not unusual to find establishments with Spanish-language branding on them throughout the neighborhood. And Tacos Doña Lena, on which I'll heap tons of praise on, is among them. A group of friends and I had supper here before a live show down the street at Eighteen Ten Ojeman. Upon seeing the storefront when we pulled into the parking lot, my first thought was, "Okay, this is legit Mexican, not Tex-Mex." The interior is quite small with some tables and an ample late Saturday afternoon crowd. What caught my eye is how the environment is what you might expect to find at a family-run taqueria off the beaten path. Rock en Español blaring from the sound system. Colorful papel picado draped from the ceiling. A framed Mexican flag and several references to the central Mexican municipality of Guanajuato. The intoxicating smell of spice-laced grilled beef wafting through the air. Simply put, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I glanced at the menu. There are numerous, delicious-sounding items that happen to be wallet-friendly, a bit cheaper than if you were to go to Gringos or Jimmy Changas. According to a mutual, the tacos here are the main draw, but what really caught my attention and appetite was the ramen birria. Mujeres y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), let me proclaim that Tacos Doña Lena turns a noodle dish with origins in Japan and is a known staple in college dorm rooms into a must-try on this part of America's fourth-largest city. Two amazing food cultures unite for a fiery meeting of the minds. Anchored by a rich, tasty consomé that's spicy but not enough to where you need to drink multiple glasses of water, there's a prime mix of ramen noodle, beef birria, cheese, fried egg, rabanos, garbazo, and corn accompanied by cilantro, onions, and a pair of fried tostadas. I was so impressed with how the contents of the ramen blended together. Since it was ramen after all despite the south of the border touchup, I still ate it the traditional way: pick up the noodles and sip the soup. There was so much that I had no choice but to put it in a takeout container. Sure, Spring Branch may be home to some great traditional Korean restaurants, but don't sleep on Tacos Doña Lena.

Although I opted for enchiladas rojas. Intense garlic. Rice is too salty for my personal preference. Beans good. Enchiladas also more salty than my preference. But still enjoyable. TDL is a Houston treasure. Highly recommended. Two locations now. Festive. Great ambiance. Good food. Nice people.

Food comes out immediately but there is no seating so be ready to eat outside/in your car. Definitely recommend the plato especial for best value. This plate is definitely enough for 2-3 to share. Not overwhelmingly strong but very refreshing with the meat and by itself too. There may be a line at night but it goes by super quick. Definitely coming back after I finish my leftovers tomorrow.

It's also a huge plus that they're open late, perfect for those late-night cravings. The green sauce is incredible, and I always go for the fajita quesadillas, they never miss. Pricing is fair for the quality you get, so no complaints there. Just keep in mind it's cash only, no cards or online payments. The lines are almost always long no matter the time of day, but they move quickly, so the wait isn't bad. I usually grab a pink lemonade as well, which hits every time. Out of all the locations, El Taconazo is definitely the one to go to, hands down some of the best tacos you'll find on Fulton St.

We ordered: Horchata (small for $3.49), Quesadillas with beef, Quesadillas with chicharron, Gorditas with beef, and Gorditas with chicharron. I don't like cinnamon but the horchata was addicting and it paired so well with the food. My friend got their Melon Agua Fresca and he said it was really refreshing as well. The gorditas were stuffed and they were so delicious, the cheese was melting and the bread was warm and not dry. The Quesadillas were my favorite. You put both the red sauce and the green sauce on it, a lot of lime juice, and it's perfect. I forgot to order cilantro on mine but they do give you it at no extra cost. The prices are so cheap and you get so much food. Everything is around $3 and it will fill you up. Each of us totaled out to be about $10-15 per person and we were stuffed. I would definitely come back here over and over again! My friend said the only bad thing about this place is when you order to go, they won't give you a lot (no lime, no hot sauces, less meat, etc.) so definitely get dine-in.

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did! Cheers!!
