I'll just go straight to the point. My husband and I both got really sick after dining at this restaurant. The only reason I'm not giving them one star is because the staff working there was so nice and welcoming; it truly breaks my heart to give such a low rating, but getting food poisoning is no joke y'all. With that being said, after dining here we learned that they will soon change the restaurant's name and also the food. I believe they will change it to a Syrian restaurant. That's why they were no longer serving pork and the only items on their menu were beef and chicken. However, if the same owners serve the same "quality" of produce I would be cautious about coming here regardless. Taco Capital absolutely delivered. The carne asada was perfectly seasoned and incredibly flavorful, honestly some of the best I've had. And the chips... wow. They were crispy, fresh, and somehow tasted like fritos (in the best way), which made them impossible to stop eating. The salsas were so, so delicious and paired perfectly with everything. I also have to mention the agua fresca... it was really delicious and so refreshing. On top of that, the customer service was excellent! Friendly, helpful, and fast. Was so excited to try this place out since its so close to work but there were too many issues with our visit. Their frier wasn't working so there were no chips to go alongside our food. The staff was super apologetic and we understood, no problem. Food prices are reasonable. It was easy to order, and we were in an out quickly. Unfortunately, the food was not hot and was very average. My friend got the wrong type of meat given to her alongside it also being lukewarm. Food wasn't fresh, and was very forgettable. First time visiting. They have been here for 2 years. As you can see from the picture this place is nice and bright. Decor is clean and simple. I tried the lunch special which lets you get 3 tacos of your choosing, a can soda, and chips and salsa. I got an aqua fresca de limon. It was not super sweet so if you're used to that you may not be a fan. Unsure if there was up-charge. I'm assuming so. I didn't get my receipt texted to me for some reason. All tacos were good. From the ones I picked my favorite was the Al pastor which is surprising because I don't usually care for those but decided to try it today. The salsas were all pretty good. The orange bottle was suppose to be the hottest but I did not find it to be too hot. Staff were friendly and informative since this was first time there. Definitely recommend trying this place. It was pretty tasty however I ordered three breakfast tacos. With beef fajita egg and bean it was $17 before tax. They were corn tortilla and small tacos. I'm not really a big guy or a huge eater. I usually get two and it fills me up my boy. They were small and a little overpriced. I think because when he was charging me, he just didn't think about making it a breakfast taco. I think he's losing cost with the boxes to go stuffy places he probably should be more efficient on making stuff to go. read more

Was in the area for an appointment, and was looking for some breakfast tacos. Seeing all the positive reviews, I decided to hit this place up. Upon entering, I was greeted by the employees. There was no else there. The place did seem to be very clean. I initially ordered the barbacoa, beans and cheese, and carne guisada tacos. I grabbed a seat and was told the food would be out shortly. After a brief wait, my order brought to my table, along with 3 salsas. I was surprised how small the tacos were. The barbacoa and carne guisada were okay. The carne guisada didn't have the same taste as other places. The bean and cheese was alright, a little heavy on the beans and less on the cheese. I wasn't too full, so I ordered two more tacos: al pastor and suadero. Wasn't too impressed by either. The pastor did not have much flavor. I really only tasted the pineapple. The salsas were a let down as they weren't spicy at all. I don't think I will be back anytime soon as I can find better tacos elsewhere that aren't so pricey. Great spot to give a try when in SAT. Coming from CA it was awesome to see the Texas version of street tacos. You order and then sit down. They bring out some chips and 3 salsa bottles. Habanero, tomatillo (mild) and roasted pepper (medium). My favorite was the habanero just the right kick not tooo spicy. The great The pulled pork taco This one was awesome. So much flavor in the pork paired with guacamole man was it amazing. Highly recommended. The Asada This was a good basic street taco. It was served with ribeye versus flank steak but it was very good. Highly recommended. Not my favorite. Brisket Really wasn't that good. Maybe it was because the meat was so fatty but really didn't feel this was a good taco. Think they need to not use such fatty pieces in their tacos. Overall I would definitely come back and want to try their breakfast tacos and the Pastor. My dining partner ordered it and it looked amazing! Taco capital is very unassuming and if you are not paying attention, you will totally miss it. It is tucked away and a little strip mall between a few other businesses. I had just taken my daughter to the doctor and we got out of their very hangry and found them on Yelp. Everything is super clean inside and they are very welcoming. Our order was taken right away and they brought out some fresh hot chips with some salsa to choose from From and they were amazing! The service was great, they made sure we had everything we needed., And the coffee is brutally strong so if you are a lightweight, maybe get it iced down or add plenty of creamer. I was a bit thrown off with the carne guisada because it was not the traditional recipe you may be used to. It was still very good, I love their corn tortillas, and whenever I take my daughter back to the doctor we will definitely go grab more tacos since it is pretty far from where I live. TL;DR I would argue these are one of the best tacos in the medical center. The first time I went here, I was trying to figure out if they were opened or closed. But then I accidentally made eye contact with the owner when I tried looking at the menu... so I felt obligated to go in. First impressions is that it's clean. It's a pretty simple place-- there's only six tacos on the menu. Three on a corn tortilla and three on flour. There are also "packs" you can purchase if you wanted to buy a lot of tacos. The owner said his favorite was the CAMPECHANO, which is a mix of the asada and pastor on a flour tortilla. The owner was so friendly and seemed like a nice father figure. I ended getting one Campechano to go and decided to eat it in the car with my friend. But WHAT A HAPPY ACCIDENT. The tacos are a good size! The meats are cooked to order and the sauces are so good. I loved the green sauce and sometime mixed with the orange sauces. I don't really know what they do with the tortilla, but it's so perfectly crisp. When I tell you that my friend and I couldn't stop thinking about these tacos for a whole day, I'm not kidding. We went back the next day to order more. We invited our my classmates to try it because it's a crime they do not have more business. Their tacos are so good not to share with others. We dined in and got chips and salsa while we waited. Served to you immediately after they make it, literally, you can watch them make it and they bring it right out to you. Even if it is not a complete order... don't worry, they'll bring the rest to you. Their menu is small, but I think that is what makes it so yummy! They aren't throwing frozen food in a fryer or oven. The place was clean and minimally decorated, they serve glass bottle soda and have a little box next to the trash can so that you can recycle the bottles. It's in a little shopping center so if you blink, you'll miss it. Just look for the Dunkin' Donuts sign and pull in there! To try it, you won't be disappointed. The carne asada that I had was OK. Problems is, I found this place in a search for Quesabirria, which I was/am really craving. They don't offer it anymore. For the Asada, the portion was good, the tortillas solid, the cilantro/onions/lime fresh. The hottest sauce, orange, had no real bite and only a mild after-tingle, couldn't call it a burn. The green sauce that also came unexpectedly was certainly not hot, perhaps it was their version of an avocado salsa, didn't really add or subtract. I'll go elsewhere next time, but the lunch was decent, just nothing like what I hoped for. read more

My favorite was definitely the Campechano taco with all the cheesy and juicy goodness. However, the Al pastor and asada tacos were just a good. The asada meat was tender and delicious. I come here often because I live and work in the Medical Center, but it's worth the trip if you don't. While there are a few other good places for el pastor in this part of town, this place has really good beef and chicken street tacos, and great el pastor. Tacos are not as good as I expected them to be. I had been wanting to try these since I saw their page on on tiktok and instagram. The tortilla was stiff, the meat was cold & the they were pretty bland. The hot sauces were okay not spicy at all (coming from someone who loves hot stuff). Honestly really disappointed on these, wouldn't recommend. Also didn't really have the best experience with staff. When getting my tacos the guy who plated them told his coworker "here are the fucking tacos" but in Spanish. Although he didn't say it to me specifically, I was standing right in front and found that rude. The coworker handing me my order didn't say anything in response... Needless to say I'm a native Spanish speaker and just replied "Have a good rest of your day" in Spanish once I received them. The guy's face changed (the who made the comment) I'm guessing he didn't think I understood him.
