For some reason we have overlooked Taco Cabana, but last weekend decided to try it again after a long period. We placed a large order online, which was easy to do. The order was not ready at the scheduled time and came out about 10 minutes late. When we got the order home, it was missing half the items. I called the local store, the phone was answered then put down on the counter, I held for nearly 8 minutes and they hung up. I called back again, and finally got a human on the line, who eventually passed me to the manager. He agreed to redo the entire order (not just the missing part), had it ready in a short period of time, and even threw in $5.00 refund for making us drive back to their restaurant for the correction. The food was fresh and tasted great. The customer service and helpful attitude from the manager was excellent. Mistakes happen and we understand. We will be back! read more

I ordered fajita tacos, which should be hard to screw up. They should have been called jerky tacos. The meat was completely dried out. My wife got a cabana bowl that also had jerky instead of fajitas. And the oreo churros were like oreo cookies that had been dipped in water and then left to dry. Don't waste time or money here. For what the fast food restaurant Taco Cabana is, they were really accommodating and understanding. Manager checked labels for me and ensured items were vegan! *Black beans are vegan *Flour tortillas are not vegan I got tostadas with black beans, lettuce, and then decked it out with pico and salsas at the salsa bar. This was a to-go order so they were kind enough to pack everything separate- so the proportion were huge and everything stayed fresh. Good management, nice service, and not the typical frustration normally received when ordering meat and dairy free at a fast food restaurant. Great on the go, quick, option. read more

Beef enchiladas with double rice turned out to be cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. It took a while to get our food so we just ate it. The tables were not cleaned and table numbers on several tables that were not picked up. The area between the big dining room and the patio is being used for random storage. The condiment bar isn't open so they just set trays of food there and may or may not call out the order number. read more

I ordered $59 worth of food so it was a big order. I counted the items before leaving the drive thru. It was 5 items shy. I understand that these things happen so I wasn't angry. I just told them that it was missing part of the order. The cashier asked me what was missing so I gave her the order so that it could be checked. She said, "it's all there, trust me". But I said it wasn't. She turned her back on me and slammed the window. I waited but she never came back to the window. Another employee came to the window and asked me to move up to the front of the building so she could wait on the other cars behind me. She said someone would meet me up there to take care of the order. She was nice so I did. No one ever came out. I had to go in. It turns out that the employee who had waited on me at the window was the manager. I never saw her again even though I asked to speak to her. She told the employees to tell me that she was too busy and that I would have to go back later. The other employees were very nice and tried to accommodate me. However I was still lacking a dozen tortillas when I got home and two of the flour tacos were messed up. read more

Had a "buy 1 get one for $1" coupon for 2-enchilada dinners, so decided to go this evening. Well, the complimentary flour tortillas that accompanied the dinners were the only thing worth eating. Otherwise, the beans and rice were tasteless and nowhere near the correct texture (rice was cold/clumpy/chewy, refried beans were a mixture of whole and runny), and the enchiladas were sloppily put together. I had chicken enchiladas and the chunks of chicken in them were slimy and hard to cut. My husband had beef enchiladas in which the filling was so watery that his whole plate was turned into a sort of soup. Yes, I know it's a chain restaurant and sort of fast-food. However, I very rarely eat at any fast-food restaurants, and I've been a routine defender of Taco Cabana as a Texas chain that actually has good food, so this was a major disappointment. Three words... Don't Eat There!!! We went to the drive thru and ordered chips and queso- the person was very unfriendly taking our order. The queso was leaking out of the container because it was thrown in the bag upside down. The queso looked like water. I took a video If the owner wants to see how watery it is. The cashier was very polite, and courteous. We got our order and the food was just the way we like it. I have to say that it is a nice fast food restaurant to eat. The atmosphere was good and rookie. Some fast food rest. are small, and your can't find a good table to eat your food. We ordered the fajita mix platter with rice and beans, it was very good. Today I realized how great this TC is. I was hungry and had lots of work to do. I also had a 2 hour wait for nearby car repair, and was on foot. I was prepared to walk further to one of the area coffee shops or delis, but Yelp indicated this TC had wifi. Doubtful, I ducked in on the way to more promising yet distant businesses. Well it's true, and the connection is great, inspiring this rare review... PROS: - Consistent Quality - been to this location 5+ times now and always good. - Good for Work - decent, free wifi & enough space to spread out. - Convenient Location - I'm always headed to Home Depot & other spots in the area. - Clean - space seems new & tables are quickly cleaned. - Friendly Staff - the cashier was particularly upbeat today. - Salsa Bar - Same as any other TC, just really dig it. CONS: - Diet Lemonade - I love Arnold Palmers, but can't do it with sweetener in the lemonade. - Guacamole - with the lettuce base, the guacamole in the menu photos always looks better than in reality. read more

We've been going to TC since we arrived in Bastrop 15 years ago. At that time, the grande family pack was 15.00... It was a great deal because it all seemed fresh. Pound of meat, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, tortillas, beans and rice. Today's experience? Went through the drive-thru. The server forgot to include the tortillas and accoutrements that go with soft tacos (when they corrected it, we got TWO containers instead of the one that comes with the meal). The second was that the rice had hard bits in them - the bottom of the pan, so to speak and were just nasty - and the rice lacked flavor. They were out of boracho beans. And not-so-important, but noticeable - the napkins were wadded and thrown into the bag and lastly, when we went inside the place to get the bag they 'forgot' to give us, an employee was having to count the tortillas - probably took her three times and a few minutes (the tortillas folded, were sticky - and they've also gone down hill). The meat is a little less good than previous meals there.. the customer experience was such that you got the idea that no one wanted to be working there - but were driven to do so - probably because the manager was there. The same meal - and not as good, now costs us $33.00. Meh read more

Pull into my parking space in front next to a car in the #1 parking spot with wheels on line and engine running... go in after squeezing out of my car and looks great with clean tables and salsa bar. That was very inviting but ended there...cashiers, Pamela never welcomed us, never smiled. Hubby got aCorona and it set there while she waited on the next customer before realizing she needed to open bottle. Ok, so I and several others have had a rough time with the TC in Bastrop, with not getting orders right, or leaving out items, but the owner has made a very aggressive move to make this better, and want to have that noted. The other Manager is wonderful and has a friendly Ile with the other staff, it just seems to be ok be particular Mgr Raul that out s not caring nice or wants to make things right. It seems some of the food we got was contaminated. Otherwise I'd give this two stars. We ordered burritos and got charged for them but got breakfast tacos instead. When we went back to get our order fixed, it seemed no one could understand what we meant by, "We ordered burritos, and these are tacos." The order eventually got fixed (despite the insistence that our order was correct, even though we had the receipt) but when we brought them back home, one of them smelled and tasted strongly of some sort of chemical solution. Not sure if it was the foil it was wrapped in or the burrito itself. I'm sure it was an accident but it's a careless one regardless. Cheap margarita and ok Tex-Mex fast foods make Taco Cabana one of my favorite fall back place to eat if I am in a hurry. If you get hold a coupon from your mail box, then you can have a meal for two for less than $10. My daughter and I was in rush to get to Austin From Stafford. By the time we were in Bastrop, it was noon and we were hungry. We saw Taco Cabana and we hopped in and ordered 2 Cabana beef bowls with tap water to drink. The beef was seasoned well and the help yourself condiment bar took the bowls over the top. The bowls were just the right size for lunch. Total bill was less than $12 with tax. read more

Ordered mine with 2. thought they only gave me one. Nope it was 2, the were so empty of cheese that they looked like one enchilada. I will rarely check a review for fast food or chain restaurants, especially when it is just for a lunch pit stop... but I regret not checking the review for this Taco Cabana before stopping. I didn't have the same issue that everyone else complained about (slow service) and my food was largely decent, but my major issue was with the drinks. They were out of unsweetened tea (boo!) and the sweet tea (yuck) tasted somewhat chemical on top of being uncovered and just open to the surroundings. I then tried the lemonade from the soda machine and it was also somewhat chemical-tasting. The root beer tasted fine, but that was likely just masking an underlying problem with the water. Lastly, many of the tables needed cleaning and it seemed like this was a very low priority for the staff. Overall, no bueno. read more
