Burnt beefy frito burrito
Robert Z.

Went there the other day and they pretty much burnt my one item to a crisp. I've gone there tons of other times in the past and this experience is new, hopefully it does not persist.

This is the quality you get from this Taco Bell in Wilkes Barre PA

By far the most excellent Mexican restaurant in the area. Enchiladas are to die for, as are the margaritas. Olé!

Went with a party of seven for a birthday. Was seated right away (they don't take reservations),…read moreservice was great!! Get the table side guacamole. Food was excellent and fast . I had the Texas fajita really good. Highly recommend!!!!

I went to La Tolteca with my family hoping for a solid Mexican meal. What I got instead was a…read morerollercoaster experience that started with hope, dipped into confusion, and ended with me questioning every life choice that brought me there. Let's start at the top: Queso: $7 for a bowl so small I thought it was a free sample. I've seen bigger portions in Lunchables. It tasted fine, but for seven bucks, I expected at least a second scoop. Chips: Honestly? Fantastic. Whoever's in charge of the chips deserves a raise. Light, crunchy, salty -- the MVP of the whole night. Diet Coke: Shockingly elite. Crisp. Ice cold. And they hit it with a lemon slice like they were trying to impress me on a first date. Best part of the meal, no question. My Burrito Hawaino: Shrimp, pineapple, mango salsa, queso -- it actually started off delicious. I was ready to forgive the miniature queso bowl. ...Then I found a black hair. And another black hair. At that point my appetite clocked out and left the building. Nothing ruins tropical flavors like unexpected garnish from someone's head. Service: The waiter was nice, polite, and not the problem. He did his job. But no amount of friendliness can cancel out surprise hair in your entrée. Final Thoughts: La Tolteca has potential -- good chips, great Diet Coke, friendly staff. But charging $7 for fun-sized queso and seasoning my burrito with bonus human hair? That's gonna be a no from me. Would I go back? Probably only for the chips and a Diet Coke with that lemon slice. And next time, I'm inspecting every plate like I'm in CSI: Wilkes-Barre.

El Tikal Mexican Restaurant & Bar - Delicious!!

El Tikal Mexican Restaurant & Bar

Skipped breakfast so I was halfway looking for a brunchy option when I stumbled into El Tikal…read more With a quality lunch special section, plus your everyday Mexican favorites and a great variety of meat, seafood and veggie dishes, I had a hard time deciding. I'm usually a combo order kind of guy, but I had to throw together my own little lunch variety pack, add Santa Fe (breakfast) burrito. Plantains always hit for me, but these were extra caramelized and gooey so I had to portion them out between the beginning and end of the meal. The mole sauce on the chili relleno was smokey and not as spicy, but really well-balanced. The tamale with red sauce seemed less flavorful than the other dishes, but I'm no tamale expert and I've been hanging out with a lot of Italians recently. The Santa Fe burrito was out of this world: the eggs, nice and crumbly with tons of seasoning and flavor, the cheese-covered chorizo oozing into each bite. I need this again, and I'm sure there's so many other incredible things on the menu to explore, but this is truly a hearty and unique item worth coming back for.

The food was amazing! Only had one margarita but it was tasty, would have been better with salt…read morebut they forgot it. You will wait for your food so if you're in a hurry plan ahead but in my opinion it was worth the wait! Prices were on point and staff was very friendly.
