This place has an amazing vibe that reminds me of some of my favorites in Seattle. That being said it was a bit hard to rate this place as the experience is a bit off the times I went.
-The first time I went here it was packed (It tends to be most of the time) but we were seated quickly and helped with the menu fast as well. I noticed that they really do not have many of the beers they have on their menu and they are quick to point out the cheaper standard ones they always have available. This means if you have trouble speaking Spanish you won't really get shown the other beers they have behind the bar, you merely get a "no". But overall I loved the vibe this place gave off and it definitely draws a certain crowd.
-The second time I went was to get some reading in on a slow day. It was not crowded and I was shown the menu and once again told "no" to many of the beers I pointed at until they decided to save me time and indicate the cheaper standard ones yet again. I enjoyed what I had and decided to pay the bill. When I paid in cash for my beer the server wandered about for about 10-15 minutes while I waited for my change. I am not sure if he just had better things to do (like sit, talk to other staff, look at his phone, etc) or he figured I had no clue how to count money and was hoping I would just leave and assume that was the cost. I kind of just sat there staring at him during the last 5 minutes to see what he would do until he finally came over and gave me my change.
-This last experience put a sour taste in my mouth when combined with the fact they don't really take the time to suggest anything else when their menu is depleted.
My best guess is going up to the bar would yield a better result as they seem to have a lot of beer in the case. Even with the language barrier, it would help if they practiced UpSelling to some extent as a foreigner will be more prone to spring at an alternative if the one on the menu is tapped out.
- The 2 stars come from the fact that the food is actually good and comes out at a solid pace and based on the vibe I get from this place with the surroundings and the music choice. read more
