Each person made 3 dozen pralines (to take home) and information about tempering chocolates, filling the praline shells, and decorating the finished products was provided. I rarely give glowing reviews of perfection but this little shop deserves it! Upon entrance, you'll notice it's a small shop with a smaller selection of pastries than some other bakeries around. Ordered a latte (really good) to go with the lemon tart and tonka pastries. If you do the same, I recommend consuming the Tonka first. It's super rich and creamy in texture but lighter in flavor. Good on its own, but difficult to taste the flavor next to the knock your socks off lemon tart. The lemon tart was the perfect blend of sugar & tartness. It was all so good that we left with two more, plus two boxes of petite pastries, some macarons (these were alright but nothing close to Laduree -a bit too sweet and too saturated with coloring), and chocolates. Additionally, the gentleman that helped us was really friendly and spoke English.

There are several gift boxed items, and the cashier will gift wrap an item if requested. The cashier did not speak English, and my German is limited; still, we got on well enough. She even gave me some hard candy at the end of our transaction. This location also sells chocolate ice cream cones with a variety of toppings. I purchased six gifts, large and small, for my chocolate loving family and friends for just over €28.

BUT. Sofia's Cafe has proved me otherwise. This cute cafe & tea shop that recently relocated from Kronberg is such a delightful find. The interior reminds me of a typical British tea time joint that is utterly beyond adorable and quite dainty. The seating is plentiful and the larger windows offer the perfect amount of natural daylight to illuminate this quaint place. I ordered the blueberry latte (because I like to try new things, I mean c'mon!) and it was delicious! It tasted like a blueberry milkshake. Or an Asian milky blueberry chewy candy. We also ordered the Honey Toast which comes with a giant dollop of fluffy whipped cream & drizzle of honey and the strawberry vanilla cake which was equally delicious and so ever moist. I've been living in Germany for close to 3 months and am a dessert afficionado and honestly have not tasted anything that delicious here until now. Sofia's Cafe knows how to do desserts right. They were so good that I got a slice of oreo cake and carrot cake to go (I'm a fatty- don't judge). Both were divine and also not like the uber sweet American cakes back in the US.
