He first assured me that he was capable of doing general contracting work. His quoted price and the price he charged was not remotely close. The first job that he quoted me $5,000 to do cost me $15,000 (which I paid - I subsequently found another contractor to do the work). He then offered to install four cable outlets - as a favour. Another electrician quoted me $200 to do the work. At the end of his "favour" he presented me with a bill for $1,200 - nevermind the fact that it was done poorly and not to spec. Remember, this was cable TV that he was installing, nothing actually electrical required. I still had to have the other electrician clean up after Dirk's handiwork. To follow up - he's decided that it makes sense to post negative reviews about my company online, even though he's never been a customer of our business. Try to find anyone else to do your work for you. I have heard other rumblings from people using Dirk to do electrical. Very slow, very expensive.

Only two things were disappointing. One was that when I had the final City inspection, found out that one light fixture was wired to the plug-in breaker. This made me go over the max 12 per breaker to 13, as I had 12 plug-ins already. I was expecting it to be wired to the other breaker where the other basement lights were already wired to. I would expect this to be caught when testing the breaker, or very least give me the heads up before the City inspector came. The first inspection it was also noted I required one more plug-in to meet the minimum distance between each plug-in. I just ended up installing one more myself and rough running the wire over. I did end up passing my inspection, but a bit disappointed that these two things were missed.

He showed up worked forked for a couple of days and then disappeared again and then came back asking for more money claiming that he had family issues and he can't finish the job unless i pay him even more money. He does not answer his phone unless you go to his home and tell him i would not leave before you talk to me and tell me where are the missing parts and where is my money. I have everything documented. He keeps lying and saying that he came 10 pm ????? To do the job but the door was closed ?????? I asked him more than once to work during normal hours but he insists on working on odd hours that the landlord and the city does not approve. I have text messages to prove that too. I am also complaining to Service Alberta and Safety Codes Council.
