The State requires each funeral home list their prices publicly, but it's always nice to see the facility and meet the people. The person we met with was very pleasant and professional. We were not given an opportunity to see caskets to 'pick' one, but a quote was worked up using a price range. The facility offers a package for services such as prayer cards, memorial book and such for an additional fee. We were also told if the funeral service is at the funeral home, there is a one hour viewing available before the service at no additional fee, vs. just the viewing, which has it's own fee structure. It's all broken down: preparation, casket, viewing, transport, graveside and so on. There's a lot to know about funerals and I do recommend you pre-plan so you know what to expect. In the end we did not choose Carrier for a couple of reasons. The first is it felt as if we had to pull information out of the person assisting us. For example, we now know the State of NH requires some kind of grave liner. During our discussions it sounded as if a liner was a 'negotiable' item that could be eliminated to save money. It is not. The second is they don't use a 'trust' to hold the money you pre-pay, they sell you an insurance policy for the amount you put down and then each time you add money they add an insurance rider to that policy. Some of the staff here are also insurance brokers. We weren't comfortable with this business practice. Funeral arrangements are much better made with a clear mind instead of during the chaos of grief and loss. I cannot recommend enough that everyone at the very least know what the expenses are and make an effort to have a plan in place to ease that most difficult of life experiences for their loved ones.

My mother died in October 2023. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home took care of everything. They were perfect: easy to deal with, kind, gentle, competent, flexible, and all that. They weren't even expensive. They hosted the memorial service for my mother in their facility, and it went just the way people wanted. I doubt that anyone is going to do comparison shopping of funeral homes at the time that they need one, but if you did compare, I know you'd end up with these folks.

This cemetery shouldn't be in the business that they're in. A cemetery should be a place we can go to remember a loved one. Instead they make it unbearable to even appreciate it. They just mow down the plants and flowers we've planted. It's gross. Not only are they awful customer service wise but my parents bought 3 plots of land with my brother being in the middle and my mother on one side and my father on the other. Yet they put another person on one of the sides that my parents have already bought. I'll leave pic below. My point is if you have anywhere else nearby to choose from you should choose elsewhere. . There is an older section of the cemetery that has some very nice, large monuments. In recent years, the cemetery has opened up new areas. If you are looking to purchase a plot, they appear to have some available. Family members are allowed to leave memorial items at their family grave sites and to plant bushes and flowers as well. Water spigots and hoses are located throughout the property making it easy to keep your plants watered. It's very nice to see grave site personalization. There is a small child's grave near our families plot. That family has chosen to leave toy cars and other items reflecting the child's interests and a memorial bench is nearby as well. Other graves have markers of wars fought, flags, and other items of interests the residents shared in life. It's very nice to see people there caring for their loved one's sites. The staff seem very personable, the grounds are pleasant and it's in a normally quiet area (except perhaps when the nearby fire apparatus are needed). What else can you really ask for in a final resting place?
