Sylvia was wonderful to work with, and I would recommend her with high regard! She was responsive to my inquiry and gave me options for time and place for my family photoshoot. We booked a two hour shoot, and Sylvia did a great job directing our poses as we strolled through the park, making us feel at ease and making the process fun overall. Being an elementary school teacher, she is also great with kids! She was patient and kind with my 17-month-old and knew how to get his attention. My mother and I recently did a family portrait with Sylvia and it was a pleasant experience. Before the shoot, she had asked us little Q&A to get a sense of what we wanted. She had recommended few places in Orange and we had picked Carbon Canyon for our shoot. During the shoot, she was very professional. She took a lead directing our positions as she knew exactly what was needed to get the best lighting. She was very approachable and sweet, which allowed us to be comfortable to capture the candid shots. She was also very responsive before, during and after her service. Her delivery was on-time and pictures turned out flawless! read more

Sylvia recently did a family portrait session for my wife's family at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea. During the shoot, she was highly professional, personable, and quickly made everyone feel at ease including a very rambunctious 3 year old and normally rigid grandpa. She understood each location within the park and how to capture the right lighting, and more importantly, the right moments for us as a family and for each of our smaller "subunits" (like couples, brother/sister, father/daughter, etc.). The resulting photos are absolutely beautiful, warm, natural, soulful and almost film-like in the post-processing. Throughout the process she has been somewhat responsive, very timely, and completely communicative and accommodating. The final package she sent was in a custom branded usb with a hand-written thank you letter--nice, personalized touch! We would definitely recommend Sylvia for any engagement or family photo session. read more

I was looking for a freelance photographer around my small town of Diamond Bar when I began to lose hope and thought I'd settle for a studio photographer. As usual, Yelp saved me last minute with great results!! Sylvia is EXTREMELY accommodating... I am terrible with scheduling and decisions, but Sylvia was patient and helped me decide even though it was a bit rushed. She took my senior portrait photos at English Spring Park. I wanted a casual photoshoot with my instrument (the viola) and she was extremely helpful in her directions, helping me to feel comfortable while I posed and played my viola. I've included a few of my favorite photos she took! I might also add that I was even more compelled to choose Sylvia after looking through her website. Her style of photography was exactly what I was looking for... elegant and beautiful! The best thing about Sylvia is hands down her care in her packaging. My CD (which had a lovely cover picture of myself and my viola) came in the mail wrapped in one of my favorite colors, baby blue, and was tied in a ribbon. There was also a small handwritten thank you card. It really made me feel like the money was worth it. This just doesn't come/happen with standard studio photographers! read more

We had a family portrait shoot with Sylvia in September 2013 and we absolutely LOVE our photos! Before the shoot - Sylvia is very accommodating with our schedule and the location of our choice (By the way, we picked the English Springs park in Chino Hills, very nice place). She listened to how we envision our shoot and offered plenty of idea and feedback. During our session - This was our first time shooting family portraits with a professional photographer and we knew little of how to pose, what to expect and what not. But Sylvia gave us lots of directions, made us feel comfortable posing and just being ourselves in front of the camera. It turned out to be such a fun experience shooting portraits as a family, and Sylvia captured all the lovely moments that we shared. The end product - We received our photos in just 10 days after the shoot and Sylvia really goes the extra mile to make your experience special. Not only did she wrap our DVD in a lovely little package, she also made a cover picture for the disc AND included a hand-written thank-you card for us! Also, the DVD is complete with full resolution and Facebook-sized images, very thoughtful too. We love all of our photos as they portray the natural and sweet interactions and the candid shots of my family - we don't know which ones to hang on the wall because there are just too many amazing ones to choose from. :p That being said, you can be fully confident with Sylvia's professionalism to capture memories that will last forever. We would definitely work with Sylvia again. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Sylvia for my engagement photos this past May and I just have to say...she is UNBELIEVABLY amazing! Her style is light and airy and she manages to capture the happiness and love in every single photo. There was no forcefulness or unnatural posing that I was very worried about. Her sweet personality made it very comfortable for my fiance and I- we were laughing and smiling every minute! Although Sylvia is very personable, that does not mean she is not professional! She was very flexible and accommodating with her schedule and we received the photos in a timely matter. I can't wait to work with her again :) Do yourselves a favor and just BOOK HER NOW! read more

Highly recommend Sylvia for a photoshoot! Although I was camera shy and didn't really know how to pose in front of camera, Sylvia made the session very fun and comfortable. All the photos came out looking very natural and gorgeous. Sylvia captured the best moments and made me realize how pretty our UCSD campus is! She even customized the CD cover for me and wrapped it nicely. You won't regret choosing Sylvia as your photographer. read more

Sylvia is SO AWESOME. Sylvia did our Engagement photo and I was first worried that we weren't going to look natural and nice (we are photo shy and never done an actual professional photo shoot). But that went out the door as soon as we met her and started the shoot. She is extremely kind, friendly, and professional. Most of all, she makes all the awkwardness go away instantly! My fiance and I look so natural and great on the photos! She does a great touch up on the lighting and everything too. I would definitely recommend her to anyone because she has the ability to make people like me (who looks awkward on photos) to someone gorgeous in the photos!:D She also delivers the photos promptly after the shooting in a super cute package (which shows how detail oriented she is). I am so glad that she has done our engagement photos!! and I am DEFINITELY going to hire her as our wedding photographer as well! SUPER RECOMMEND! read more

Sylvia is a fantastically talented photographer! She did an engagement photo shoot for me and my husband at Coronado beach in San Diego. Sylvia took her time and was extremely creative with her perspectives and captured us beautifully. Just take a look at her portfolio and you can see her talent. Thru our engagement photos, you can see a story unfolding and that's very special We framed several photos into a collage set on the wall and also printed one out onto canvas. It puts a smile on our faces every time we look at it. Thank you for making us look beautiful, Sylvia! We will definitely ask Sylvia to come down to San Diego and take our photos again when we start our family in the near future. read more

Sylvia is a really talented photographer and easy to work with. she had taking pretty photos of me for two times already !!!!One was the couple pictures and one was the senior portrait. they all came out lovely and beautiful!! it's very easy to have some camera-shy moment when a professional photographer holding a big cameral in front of you. However, Sylvia knew we were having difficulty, so she asked us to make fun with one another like everyday. With this, she would then walk away and shoot pictures in the back. This is the top secret behind all natural pictures! Sylvia definitely knows when to capture the perfect moment and the beauty of life is appreciated. Highly recommend her! and i'll for sure asking her to be my wedding photographer in the future ! read more

5 Star rating for both the experience and the photos. I would definitely recommend Sylvia Chen Photography!! Sylvia is a kind, patient heart! She has people skills, which some photographers lack. She's proffesional, friendly and ultimately displays a passion for her craft!! With that mentality behind the camera giving you direction you cannot go wrong! =D I am more than pleased with the results of our shoot. We spoke over the vision it previously and things panned out better than I hoped! Sylvia is amazing! I had the opportunity to work with this lovely, kind, creative, and very talented woman for a dance photo shoot. Let me start by saying that Sylvia is AMAZING!! I just had my engagement session with her and I cannot find any cons about her! I literally wanted to praise myself for find such an awesome photographer! When the forecast said there's expected rain on our shoot day, Sylvia was very accommodating and postponed the date for us! I was bit worried about the shooting but Sylvia made us relax and we were able to act natural. It was FUN! We are turely amazing what Sylvia has been accomplished, not only a talented photographer, Sylvia is a pleasure to be around. Booking her was very simple and throughout the lead-up to our wedding she was clear and efficient. On the day, she was friendly to everyone she came across, and yet invisible most of the time. She really just let us, and all our guests, get on with enjoying the day - it was crucial to us that we could actually enjoy the results of all the effort we'd put into planning it, and although Sylvia was always at our disposal, it was so nice to just let her get on with it! Going through one of her albums, you never fail to get a sense of the atmosphere at each and every event. And that's exactly what we wanted ,something we could look back on and remember how every step of the way felt. Sylvia delivered a beautiful set of images that capture many very happy memories - I'm sure we will continue to enjoy looking through them for years to come. Sylvia's photos told the story of the day just perfectly and - each time we look at our photos - we spot somebody's expression or a clever detail that we missed the first time around. When choosing a photographer, you spend a lot of time looking at other people's wedding photos and hope that yours will turn out just as well. Nothing compares to looking at your own and, with Sylvia, she will turn out even better! Sherilyn & Harrison read more

Sylvia is the best photographer I have ever had. My friends and I had sylvia for our graduation photo shooting recently and we are in love with our photos. Sylvia is a total sweetheart. Not only is she equipped with a great amount of professional and school experience, her personal talent comes through with her broad range of ideas and beautiful end results. If you do not have experience in front of a camera, she will make it fun, give complete direction, and help you to be fully comfortable. I had a great shoot with her, starting from an exchange of descriptors/pictures for inspiration, and then discussion of the best locations and times. Also, I received the pictures in a quick manner (some photographers take forever to give you the prints). I look forward to working with Sylvia again and definitely give my recommendation for her to those who are seeking unique, gorgeous photos. read more

Sylvia did a family shoot for us in March 2013. She is very professional: scouts the location before hand, knows how and what she wants in a shot, and best of all, she gives direction in a very naturing and playful way even my 9 and 6 year listened. She even brought props to keep the kids entertained! I was amazed when we received the final prints on how Sylvia was able to catch our family all smiling and focused on her at the same time. Sylvia chen is one of my oldest closest friends i have. I have to add its pretty amazing to see her progress in doing what she loves and building her own business out of it. Not only do i think she"s an amazing artist and photographer, but shes also great to work with as well. Me being my clumsy self have NO idea how to strike a damn pose but she gives great direction and def knows whats shes doing. Im lucky to have a variety of graduation pictures in which someone actually took the time to shoot and fix up, not to mention at a great price , rather than pay for those generic ones that the school provides. I found Sylvia through Instagram and at first look really loved her soft yet vibrant photos. I usually have low expectations for photographers because I never like how I come out in photos and was nervous as it was our first time having an engagement session. She was very professional yet friendly from the get-go and super easy going and flexible. We met up with her and we felt comfortable to be ourselves immediately! She also has an amazing turnaround rate (for those who have low patience like me) and always gives you sneak peeks to make your waiting and anticipation a little less painful. She's extremely patient and you can tell she just genuinely loves photography and capturing love and the stories of others.
