Andy & Nita are fantastic hosts. We arrived and were greeted by Andy who quickly showed us to his version of "afternoon tea" which was wine and freshly baked cookies. Oh.my.God. They were delicious! We were given a tour of the property, along with some history. Andy took his time in explaining a map of the city and giving his recommendations for things to do and restaurants. This was such a nice and personal touch. We stayed in the Michigan Room. It was so warm and cozy. We felt right at home. This B&B is the perfect blend of modern and vintage. It definitely had the original charm of the home. But, it also has great modern conveniences such as an Apple TV, USB wall chargers and a pretty amazing shower. Entrance to the house, and your room, is by a personal code. Again, super cool:) There are towels aplenty and the bath robes are made from the worlds softest material. The house is located on a very quiet street which makes relaxing so easy. Do yourself a favor and take a walk around the neighborhood. The charm in the surrounding houses sends you back in time. It's a short 5 minute walk to downtown or to the beach. Breakfasts were amazing! On day 1, we had homemade stuffed cinnamon swirl french toast, fruit and yogurt parfait, an egg souffle and organic sausage. Day 2 was homemade cinnamon rolls, bacon and a caramelized apple, pecan and brie omelette. Whenever Andy wants to cook for you, just say yes because it's going to be heavenly! It was so nice sitting with Andy and the other couple for some fun and informative conversation. Overall, the personal touches are what set this B&B above and beyond any experience we've previously had. Thank you, Andy & Nita!

You can walk across the street to watch the sun set on beautiful Lake Michigan or hop in the car and be in downtown St. Joseph and/or Silver Beach in less than five minutes. Many renowned wineries and vineyards are a short drive away and ready for you to tour. The proprietors are true professionals who are warm and engaging and yet perfectly sensitive to your desire for privacy. They accommodated our every need. My wife and I enjoyed a weekend here with four other couples. We arrived in the early evening on a Friday and enjoyed a wonderful happy hour in the kitchen and living room. We decided to stay off the streets and enjoyed some great pizza from Silver Beach Pizza. The next evening we took advantage of the beautiful back porch by grilling steaks and sitting down to an engaging evening of great food and lots of laughing. The breakfasts were stunning - worthy of a spread in a food magazine. The service was exceptional. I could not have felt more at home and relaxed. This place is a gem. I highly recommend anyone give it a try. Perfect for a group of friends or for a nice romantic getaway with your sweetheart. I can't wait to go back!

Meanwhile he dog woke us all up barking both mornings. Also, she locked us out one evening when we were quietly enjoying the back yard so we had to go around to the front of the house. If you're not a people person--don't have an inn.

Spouse and I are big fans of the Tru brand and planned for several months to stay at this location…read moreon an overnight visit to Saint Joseph & wine country. The ratings here are not believable. When we turned down our beds to go to sleep, our sheets on both of the queen beds in our room were covered in other people's hair and there was sand and dirt down at the foot of the beds inside the sheets as well. It was disgusting and a big shock to find. We immediately reported this to the front desk, and the staff told us dirty sheets going unchanged between guests was an ongoing issue that management knows about but has been unable to successfully address with their housekeeping staff. (In fact, an hour before we reported our issue, we witnessed another guest at the front desk complaining about finding unexpected hair and dirt in their room as well.) We were changed to the one remaining room at the property, and front desk staff came up to inspect the sheets with us before they gave us the keys. But if there had not been a room left, or if those sheets had been dirty as well, we would have been forced to look for an available room on a busy summer Saturday night at nearly midnight in rural Michigan, or get in our car and drive two hours overnight back home. We reported the issue to Hilton corporate, requested that Hilton investigate the franchisee for knowingly breaking core Hilton sanitary practices, and requested a full refund of the cash and points we had spent for that night's reservation. This is clearly an identified and repeating issue with this property and needs to be addressed. (I fully believe reviews from more than a year ago from people who found urine stains on their toilet seat.) If you choose to stay here, you probably should check your bedsheets the moment you get access to your room. But we'll never stay here again, and I really don't suggest you do either.

In addition, we wanted to use our credit card points so our selections for this weekend were slim but overall this checked all the boxes. What went well was that our room was quiet. There was 24/7 coffee/tea available in the lobby. the space to walk the dog was really nice as there were two locations on either side of the buildings. Additionally enjoyed the set up of the room and the amenities such as the body wash and the hand soap. There is some room for improvement at this location in regards to breakfast items. It was very continental and really didn't do the trick however we were able to enjoy bagels, toast, hard boiled egg and they did have a few varieties of fresh fruit. In particular, I wasn't really a fan of the pancake machine and the traditional waffle iron would be much more hardy and suitable. Overall, no major problems with our room however, the TV system is unique and sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn't often to look at Pluto versus even accessing the live channels as their entertainment system is kind of finicky. Additionally, the lotion dispenser in our room did not work, and I really wanted to try the lotion as I thought the fragrance for the body wash and hand Soap was very pleasant. Lastly, the workers at this hotel are just not very friendly. They're not rude. They're just not hospitable and that was evident from the front desk to the breakfast attendance to the maintenance person. They just were not very friendly or engaging at overall. If in this area again, I would stay at this hotel if the price point was right. overall it was a good value and close to St. Joseph while having the charm of Stevensville.

Extremely Disappointed with Hotel Owner and Unfair Business Practices!…read more I am extremely disappointed with the customer service and business practices at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Harbor, Michigan. On 3/23/24 rented a conference room for a graduation party and had to cancel due to circumstances beyond our control. I called on May 17, 2024 to cancel and was informed that there was a two-week cancellation policy. When I pointed out to Sara that I was calling 15 days in advance, she then assured me that she would work on getting me a refund from their accountant since they don't keep cash on site. (I had paid $100 on my credit card on March 23 and $200 cash May 2.) However, when I went back for the refund 5/19/24, it wasn't ready. On Monday, May 20, I returned and was told that the owner decided to keep $150 and only refund $150. This was not reasonable or acceptable! Despite my protest, I was told that this decision was final. This experience has left me feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. Their unwillingness to honor their own policy and their poor handling of the situation demonstrate a lack of integrity and respect for their customers. I would strongly advise against doing business with this hotel. NEVER, EVER! Extremely Disappointed with Hotel Owner and Unfair Business Practices! There was a construction crew on site updating certain rooms which was nice to see also. The problem was the blood we found on the comforter in one of the 3 rooms we rented for the week. Another issue I have was the fact that the hot tub was not working at all during our stay. The pool was very warm, which was nice, but it was dirty and had a lot of sand on the bottom. The biggest problem however was that the pool door was broken and would not latch. Any small child could have ran through the open door and drowned. Yes, parents should watch their children, but with a 2 and 3 year old with us for our stay it was concerning. We visited this same hotel in July of 2023 and it was perfect at the time, which is why I booked again this year. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back here.
