I was here 2 days ago and had a wonderful experience. They were busy as they had a sale going on. I had several suits to try on and I also had my 5 month old daughter with me. They were extremely patient and kind and didn't make me feel rushed at all, even whenever my daughter needed to nurse. They gave helpful and honest opinions and helped fasten a swimsuit when I had trouble (due to holding my baby). Very impressed with my experience. I bought 2 suits and will be back in the future. Do you have a swimwear problem? Are you 'resorting' in the next few months and can't find anything to wear?! Could life be more stressful?! That's the basic aim of this store - if you didn't know already. It's November and it's not getting any warmer anytime soon - so the cashier told me it's the "slow season" from now until December. But after that, the resort crowd raids the place and after that, loaded spring breakers raid the place, and after THAT - it's summer all over again! That's the life of swimwear in the Midwest anyways, and in Johnson County no less. The sale rack was a bit cheesy - too many zebra prints and screaming oranges but the selection was vast and mostly wonderful elsewhere in the store and they carry top brands, from Michael Kors to Calvin Kline - you can find a killer suit in here if you want one. The sale rack isn't much less than the suits in the front - so I would spend the extra $10 for a better looking and styled bathing suit - just a tip. They also sell: sunscreen and tanning oils, jewelry (Caribbean themed of course for those pesky resorters!) and also hats (wide-brimmed, for women named Muffy or Edwina) and snazzy resort-style sandals in all sizes (and also on sale). The prices range from $75 - $150 - I believe. Different designers and manufacturers price so varied so don't take my word for it as there were thousands of bathing suits - the selection is incredible. I especially liked how laid back everything was with all things considered. The cashier even joked with me about "those lucky few" who are able to vacation in the winter - she was a chill lady. read more

Frustrating experience. I had heard good things about the plus size section but selection was minimal at best. Basic or hideous prints, nothing cute. Sales seemed condescending and also suspicious, perhaps due to my size but literally no way for me to steal in my outfit and tiny purse. If you are small, there seemed to be much more options. Today I needed to find a suit for a trip to Costa Rica tomorrow. I tried to find something on line as it is not my favorite thing to do. I remembered these folks are close by and dropped in. Bring a plus size, sometimes clerks can be dismissive. Mary Kate was the total opposite and made me feel normal. She probably has no idea how much I appreciate that. So hats off to you, girl. First time customer..and wow, so happy I walked in! Amazing selection of swimwear on new and marked down pieces. Very attentive, friendly and patient assistance in my 2 hour visit. I left with about 9 combinations of mix and match choices for my trip..so many, that I'm going to have to take some more beach/poolside trips to wear them all. Time was running out. I needed to finally do that dreaded deed: shop for a new swim suit before a cruise. At age 69, I was NOT looking forward to this shopping trip. My millennials told me to just order 15 or so swim suits online and send back the rejects. I wanted personalized service; did I ever get it from Kristin (manager) and Mary Kate! They actually made it as painless as possible, with them bringing back and forth merchandise to accommodate my needs and wants. I visited the store today with high hopes of finding some bottoms that would fit great as that is what I heard could be expected of this store. I was extremely disappointed. The store associate was completely unhelpful and I ended up leaving within 5mins of walking in the door. I expected more from a store that brags about helping women find the perfect suit. I absolutely love the suit I got from Swimwear Solutions! I have a real hour-glass figure, which can make finding a swimsuit with enough support and coverage a challenge to find. The staff here were so helpful in getting me in exactly the right suit. I was in town last week and LOVE to support small business particularly after COVID. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from this store! It is a terrible experience. They ram everything onto racks so you can hardly see what you're looking at. I was sure the long haired woman with the dark hair was merely a rude clerk but I later learned she is the store OWNER. Went in to buy some tops for my wife for our anniversary. No one mentioned, nor were signs posted, that they did not allow returns. Apparently, they have signs posted in the changing room but decided to pass on trying the tops on myself ;-). Suit tops didn't quite fit and nothing else jumped out, so my wife was going to make a return when they dropped the bomb on her... no returns. She said they have a sign in the dressing room that says it is federal law that they cannot accept returns (but exchanges are fine, please). Clearly a company policy given you can return swimsuits at Athleta, Victoria's Secret, Macy's etc. The return attempt was 4 days after the original purchase. Price was as high or higher than Athleta and VS. Selection was much less. Not impressed. Will spend the store credit and won't be back. read more

I had a very successful shopping experience today at Swimwear Solution in Leawood! Laurel, the owner, selected many options for me that looked fantastic and I would never have tried on my own. I sometimes have trouble finding tops that fit properly, and she was extremely helpful. I found 3 tops and 2 bottoms and was able to take advantage of their BOGO sale. I can't wait to wear them all! I went in thinking that I would be greeted by a friendly associate who would assist me with my swimwear needs. If I wanted to go browse around a small selection of ugly swimming suits, I would have gone to WalMart. The associates were rude, and the selection was poor. I went into this store to find a cute swimsuit for a date. Once inside the sales girls were rude and unhelpful. I found a few suits without help and took them into a dressing room to try on. While in the dressing room, I could hear the girls who worked there openly giggling at me and making fun of women in the dressing rooms, me included. The lady in the dressing room next to me was getting a lot more attention and help. I think it's because the sales girls thought she had money to spend and I didn't. I felt bad for the lady next to me though because the girls were basically calling her fat. That's not cool! read more

Was interesting that another person walked in and they rushed over to welcome them to the store which meant blocking us from exiting easily. You cannot return anything, not even a dress of cover up if it doesn't fit. I bought a dress as a gift and it was too big but all they would give me is in store credit which I don't want. I want my money back. I've never seen a store do that unless you didn't have the receipt. read more

This is the first time I have ever had a positive experience buying a swimsuit. The selection of patterns, styles, sizes, and prices was just perfect and I found what I wanted very quickly. My wife left her new ray-ban's in the changing room and left for one moment to grab another suit and the attendent cleaned out the room and took her glasses. It seems to me they have a racket going full of clepto's as other reviews indicate this is common. Their response is leave your number and we will call you if they show up. What a joke. First, let me preface this request by telling you that I LOVE supporting local businesses when I can. I will pay more to buy locally and support a neighbor before I will order online. However... On Saturday morning (May 31st, 2014) my Mom and I went to Swimwear Solutions (located in Hawthorne Plaza, 119th and Roe) to purchase swimsuits. While we were there we were treated with such a distain and complete disrespect by THREE sales associates. When, I asked for help with a swimsuit I couldn't reach I was promptly told that it, "Didn't come in my size." before I was even asked what size it was I was requesting. When I was finally given the swimsuit I'd requested (they did have my size (12-14) by the way) I was told that all of their dressing rooms were full. After I waited quite sometime and saw others being given rooms I figured I would ask again. When I asked again the sales associate told me that all the dressing rooms were full and followed by saying, "If you really want to try the suit on you can try it on in our bathroom." At that point I CLEARLY saw that my Mom and I were not welcome there and it was as day that they thought I was to fat for their store. With all of that said please let me say that very sadly some local businesses DO NOT deserve to be supported! Swimwear Solutions is one of those business! A business who discriminates against anyone because of race, religion, sexual preference or in this case size of the customer etc. doesn't deserve your business. read more

There is no question the prices are pretty high but equally I've found the quality is there! I've purchased several suits over the past 8 years and have never been dissapointed. My build makes it near impossible to shop anywhere else. For the past 2 years I've been taking my 14 year old daughter there as well since she is very slim but well developed. We had difficulties finding anything for her that fit appropriately but Swimwear Solutions has been able to fit her everytime in suits she likes (not too old looking) and she's comfortable in. I highly recommend it if you are hard to fit or are looking for well made suits. They also do custom work as well but I've not had experience with it myself. read more

I'm really surprised by all the negative reviews here. Don't let them dissuade you from stopping in!! They have an AMAZING and enormous selection of swimsuits that come in every imaginable cut, color, and pattern. I walked in searching for a sexy one-piece that would conceal my belly (thanks, Thanksgiving) without making me appear matronly. There were two women working and they were both incredibly helpful and knowledgable about different brands and sizing without being pushy or intrusive. They have gorgeous one-pieces for all ages, and many of them have body shaping and contouring abilities. I definitely found what I was seeking. As an aside, I have a small frame and really benefit from swimsuits that have more structure than skimpy bikinis, and I was pleased to see that they have plenty of two-piece swimsuits with push-up and/or underwire support. They also have fun swimsuits with wider bands that offer a more retro vibe. I had a tough time choosing. They also carry sunglasses, flip flops, resort wear, cover ups, jewelry, and men's swim stuff. The swimsuits offer sizes for plus size women, too. All of the products felt like they were made with quality and design, and the prices reflect that. That said, I really feel like you get what you pay for with swimwear, and am confident that my purchases were worth the cost. read more

Super disappointed! Asked a staff member to show me a few suits that would be flattering for my body. Her response was to show me what was popular. A suit that is popular does not mean it will be good for me! I do expect knowledgeable employees at a specialty shop that charges a premium price for the merchandise. The ATTITUDE here is extremely disappointing. My friend and I went this afternoon and we were not greeted or acknowledged for a good while. And they acted like we meant nothing to them and really didn't want to help. Ended up finding something cute on their clearance rack (which was very reasonably priced) but everything else around the store was very overpriced and pretty sure we won't return due to the amount of snobbiness of the employees. read more

I was just there today trying on swimsuits. The staff was very friendly but shortly after leaving I realized I had accidentally left my nice watch and bracelet in one of the dressing rooms. I realized that about one hour after I left. I called and they told me the bracelet had been found and not the watch. It broke my heart to think the people who shopped their would steal. I was devastated. Needless to say the staff wasn't very helpful when I called and talked to them about the situation. On June 22, 2014 I was shopping in Hawthorne Plaza and came upon Swimwear Solution. I proceeded to walk in and check it out. No one greeted me or said anything to me but nonetheless, I proceeded to look around and I found a Maxi Dress I liked and wanted to try it on. I proceeded to go to the dressing. There was a lady sitting in a chair waiting on her daughter. No one else was around. No sales person and no customers waiting in line. I saw an empty dressing room and proceeded to walk in and lock the door. I had my blouse almost off and someone with a key opened the door (they did not knock; most other stores I go to they knock on a closed door before opening). They saw me half naked and proceeded to close the door. I was asked my name, I told them. What came next is something I have never experienced in my life adult life or expected from a store (I am a 50 year old Latina women). I was asked to get dressed and get out of the dressing room because I did not have my name on a list. I proceeded to tell them I did not know anything about a list...they said to bad so sad but that I had to get out of the dressing room. Needless to I got dressed and walked out.. I have never been so humiliated and embarrassed in my life. I will NEVER shop in that store and will be publishing my experience in Twitter and Facebook. Employees at Swimwear Solution need to learn customer service and etiquette. read more

I was greeted by Denise who quickly picked out a variety of suits that would fit my body style. She was wonderful to work with and was very patient. I visited this store about 3 months ago with my two daughters, despite the negative reviews, because they desperately needed suits for an upcoming vacation. Upon entering the store I prepared to encounter a rude sales staff, but to the contrary I was greeted warmly by the sales associate and immediately asked if I needed any assistance locating a swim suit. Since I had never been in the store before, the young lady briefly described where certain items were located and addressed all the questions that I had. Even though the fitting rooms were quite busy the staff made sure that the customers had the sizes that they needed to ensure a great fit. The store is filled with virtually all of the items you would need to enjoy a day at the beach or lounging by the pool(sun glasses, flip flops,cover-ups,sun hats, etc.). They have an extensive selection of swim suits which I believe extend up to at least a size 24W. They also have a good selection of bra sized bikini tops that extend to possibly a size "F" but most definitely up to a "DDD". Oh, and if you need any alterations on your suit they have an in-house seamstress who will gladly take care of you. Be fore warned that these suits are not inexpensive, but you can get a good deal during one of their sales. The staff explains their return policy to you before you make your purchase so make sure you understand and agree with it before you pay. They also have the policy posted on the counter at both registers. Overall, it was a good experience! I found what we needed and I will visit the store again. read more
