    Pup cup for the win!!

Wowza! OUTSTANDING ICE CREAM DELIGHTS! In the vernacular of the current youth - it slaps! No cap! If you need an interpretation, it is damn good! While visiting Andrews to ride the rail bikes in the summer; it was hotter than two rats making love in a wool sock; we needed some cold creamy refreshment to replenish our electrolytes! O...M...G... go now! Stop reading this and get some of their cool sweetened cream from the gods - it is straight from Mount Olympus! My wife is a big kid and had their spin on nachos, so good! I had the snickerdoodle and it was shut yo mouth good! Our pup Figgy Pudding devoured her pup cup! We are sad that we didn't stop here until our last night in western NC, we are thinking of driving back just to get another treat! And it was very affordable!! To those about to get your dish on, I not only salute, but am envious of you!!!

    Decisions, decisions!

So, what do you do on your vacation during a pandemic? You get in your car (which gets you out of the house!), and you take a scenic 2 hour drive into the mountains to Sweet Tooth! Lets take a walk down memory lane.... when you were a kid, do you remember getting soft serve ice cream from a small local ice cream shop? Well, if you want to re-live that experience, Sweet Tooth hits the spot! Oh my goodness, the amount of ice cream flavors and treats are endless! Yes, they have twist cones (two flavors of soft serve ice cream twisted together!). They even have a double wide cake cone - that i haven't seen in years! Yes, they have dipped cones - in several flavors (cherry, chocolate, butterscotch). Yep, they have milkshakes and slushies! Yes, tons of sundae options too! If you can't find a treat on this menu that excites you, you are crazy! Lol. :) Gosh, they even had a 4th of July themed sundae! How neat is that? I just "geeked out" about this place so much as it reminded me of the little hole in the wall "tasty freeze" type ice cream shops that i grew up with in Pennsylvania. Brought back some fond memories and was a nice trip to take for the day (to use up some vacation time from work). Oh, one last note...this location is walk up or drive thru only (not a dine in location). Plus, the portions are very large! Prices are reasonable, and staff was awesome. I will be back Sweet Tooth! Thank you for making me smile on a day that i really needed one!

When we arrived several vehicles were in parking lot, so we decided to take a chance. The parking lot could use some work. If it was not for the activity around the place you would consider it closed. We decided to give it a try and we were glad we did. You can get all day breakfast, unch or dinner. I chose the breakfast. Grits over easy eggs, country ham and biscuits. All were delicious. My friends had grill cheese and onion rings, another the burger and fries. All were well pleased with our choices. Around us we saw porkchops and salad being served which they seemed to be enjoying. They have a large varied range of foods on the menu so thete is something for everyone . We did not get desserts but from ice cream cake and pies all looked good. The prices are very surprisingly reasonable. The staff and service was very efficient and friendly. I understand why the locals support this place.

Seeing they had a new item on the menu, prime rib I decided to try it. It was very tasteful and seasoned with a good crust. The basket of fried mushrooms as an appetizer was very fresh and fried perfectly. Their cream corn is one of my favorites. The restaurant is cute and decorated in a way that it makes you feel very comfortable.

Oh my goodness! If you're ever in the Murphy, NC area make sure to treat yourself to Julie's Place…read more The food, the service, the atmosphere, etc. is all super sweet and amazing! My husband and I aren't the kind of people who like to eat at chain restaurants when we're traveling. We were visiting the area because of a death in the family. The owner, Julie, treated our family very well and I couldn't be more grateful. We got to eat here several times during our stay. Oh man. The first day, hubs had a grilled cheese and tomato soup while I did the soup/salad combo that was a house salad and their house made chicken and dumplings. We left very full! Those dumplings are some of the best I've had. On another visit, hubs got the catfish while I got the kids' portion of popcorn shrimp. It was more than enough shrimp for me. It came with a side (fries) and I still couldn't eat it all! The portions are very generous! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his catfish with fried okra and fried squash. The menu is very large and everything looks/sounds good! There are sweet painting and signs all over the restaurant - especially sunflowers! It's definitely a very small town family run restaurant and I LOVE it! The prices are great too! I promise that if you visit Julie's Place you won't be disappointed.
