Kellie's is in an old Loganville strip mall near the Goodwill and the Hong Kong Chinese restaurant which also offers home cooking if you are Chinese. I was at Kellie's for a 50th wedding anniversary and was late but not too late to be able to grab the last big, fat, moist and tender fried chicken breast and some great slaw. Best fried chicken in Atlanta is supposedly either Matthew's Cafeteria in Tucker or Merry Mac's in Midtown but if you really want the best fried chicken in Georgia, try Kellie's - just amazing. The chef said she has a secret recipe. Of course she does. Any place that can make fried chicken that good can probably do everything else well. I'll definitely make the trip again. I'm guessing their Southern breakfast is amazing. Oh, and fried chicken is their daily special on Wednesdays. The place is a must stop and eat when coming home or headed to Athens. read more

Let me preface by saying I went at 3 pm. Kind of a weird time to go to any restaurant since it's between lunch and dinner. However, the place was about 80% full. The fried pork chop which was a special of the day was amazing. The mashed potatoes tasted exactly like those cheap little instant potato packs, the okra had clearly been sitting and gone stale, and the biscuits could break a glass window with a little gusto. We were dissed! We went to Kellie's today at 1pm. Many tables were empty. We were not acknowledged by person at front register, so we asked if we needed to wait to be seated. She seemed rattled by the question and finally said we needed to wait. She then walked quickly over to an older woman who is responsible for seating guests and spoke with her. We continued to wait for our turn. She sat several people in front of us; however, she never acknowledged us, even though she clearly saw us, and went to stand and look around as if we were invisible. A blend with mostly working class families and older retired think tanks setting around discussing politics makes this place one that I could get used to and frequent if I lived closer. The staff is bubbly and well trained and the food is amazing. I chose the western omelet based on my waitresses input and it was the best omelet I think I have ever had. It had a mixture of two or three cheeses with ham, cubed tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Just melts in your mouth! The cat head biscuits taste fresh and look hand rolled like mama used to make. My only complaint is the last two orders were missing the biscuits we ordered. The first time they swapped them out with cornbread, and the second time they just didn't give us any kind of bread. I understand you probably run out at a certain time, but this needs to be communicated to the person taking takeout calls. My family came to Kellie's for a quick lunch. For the most part it was really good. Not healthy but tasty! My parents and i had the catfish fillet. It was pretty good. I had the carrot and raisin slaw which was good and very sweet. The sweet potato soufflé was more like whipped potatoes and again very sweet. Now the biscuits were good but not nearly as amazing as i had expected from previous reviews. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich and he really enjoyed it. He also really liked the mashed potatoes. The staff was very nice and very quick. So if you want some comfort food this is a good option.
