Liked the relaxing TV music and scenery upgrade
Elisabeth P.

You know, no ones really ever thrilled about being in an ER. There are classically long waits, sick people coughing all over you, and no one ever brings you that martini you ordered. I can't say that for most people a trip to the ER will be a pleasurable experience, but I think if you take into account what to expect from such a visit and adjust your parameters, you can still end up with a 4-5 star experience. As coronavirus is running rampant in WA right now, I really wasn't inclined to visit a doctor when my clumsy self fell running and my finger turned 50 shades of purple..yah not at all sultry or enticing as an ombre of grey. I taped and generally avoided until I couldn't any longer and checked myself into the ER with an xray of my translocated finger break..so apparently a purple finger is NOT a sign its healing normally just FYI. The ladies at the front were positively peachy and got me checked in and even gave me the mask I requested to avoid the dreaded beer virus (CV). I really loved the new construction of the building with modern aesthetics, the checkin desk being separate from the waiting space and the door that begins your journey into the next waiting space. I actually didn't hang out in the waiting room too long and an RN nabbed me to triage. He checked out my radiograph I came prepared with and laughed at my attempt to convince myself I was totally fine. They moved me after vitals to a nice patient room with a TV playing relaxing music and showing gorgeous scenery photography, I actually quite enjoyed that touch. The room was modern, clean, and had rather nice cabinetry. Radiology popped in after hardly any wait to snap a few more photos of my mangled paw and then came the long wait for the physician. I waited about 40 mins or so for her to pop in, say yah..that's a pretty complicated break.. then another 25 mins or so as she stepped out to see if there was anything she could do for me. I was disappointed I couldn't be treated for a fracture there but I am ignorant to the extensive training in all disciplines that an ER physician has so perhaps this is normal. What I did appreciate was she was able to secure me a last min visit at the end of day, on a Friday no less, with a hand surgeon. She reviewed my case with him, sent the radiographs, and I was on my way to Bellevue for a splint. Im sure I won't like the bill for this adventure, but again I think adjusting expectations to fit emergency care wait, limitations, and costs is a must. I was pleased as a whole with the speed of the triage, the attempts of the physician to get me to where I needed to be, and the friendly RNs and front desk personnel that made my experience as pleasant as possible. So what did we learn kids? Purple fingers are bad, see a doctor.

While dealing…read morewith a very challenging medical situation for our oldest child, we previously had left 2 other practices because we felt that they couldn't meet our needs. It's not an exaggeration to say that Staci came through for us in the biggest way when we felt like we were drowning. She has continued to do so for nearly 10 years and for all four of our children. She always gets us in same day if needed, is punctual, spends a lot of time with us, and never makes us feel rushed. Staci responds to messages same day and gets refills in for us as quickly as humanly possible if I ever drop the ball. Staci has been tireless in her efforts to help us find answers to challenging medical issues, and she is always current on the latest research. She is kind and patient with my children, even on their hardest days. If you have a neurodivergent child, I cannot recommend Staci enough. The front office staff (Katelyn and Sara) are wonderful too. They know me and all of my children on a first name basis, and it feels like they bend over backwards to always help me whenever I am in a bind, whether it's trying to fit me into a very full schedule, get a message to Staci between appointments, deal with insurance, you name it. They are welcoming and kind to my children, and always try to help them find a favorite sticker, no matter how long it might take them to decide . On rare occasions when Staci is unavailable, we have seen other practitioners and have always been pleased with their care. The office is clean and warm and friendly, and feels like a comfortable and safe space to my children. My youngest is 2 and he recently started pretending that one of his cars is named Dr Staci. If one of his brothers has an appointment, he always wants to go too. All of my children would agree, Staci and Village Pediatrics feel like a part of our family in the best way possible.

Our teen arrived unwell and we asked if she should wear a mask but were told no (headache, nausea, post-flu), mentioned it repeatedly, but there was no basic empathy or accommodation--no temp check, no relief suggestions, and loud talking continued despite requests for quiet. When our teen felt like vomiting and nearly passing out, the response felt dismissive. The appointment ended abruptly after Staci got upset, stormed out, and left us with no med plan or next steps. Our kid ended up throwing up in the waiting area with no follow-up help or call afterward. We own that our teen was moody (sick + ADHD), but we expected better de-escalation skills, empathy, and flexibility--especially from a specialist in teen ADHD. Lacked strong interpersonal skills and neurodiversity awareness in tough moments. Wouldn't recommend. Look at her google reviews as other families had a similar experience. Kristi the other nurse only works one day a week and the other one left. There's no other "medical" staff so you'll likely be stuck with Staci and no alternatives. We have never seen a single person there in the photo she has of her practice.

Before that time, I was a patient of a large medical practice in Issaquah for over a decade. I've always tried to eat well and stay fit through exercise. So it has been frustrating that the story I've received every year at my annual checkup from my primary care physician at this large medical practice is the same: some of your biomarkers are higher than ideal and we'll just watch them. No further investigation, no analysis of underlying causes, no next steps at all. After I saw Dr Woodall, I learned for the first time that there were steps that I could take to address the underlying causes of my high biomarkers. The steps that I have taken include both medicines as well as nutritional supplements based on scientific knowledge and lab testing of vitamins and nutrients my body is not absorbing well. And I'm confident that the steps that I have taken will help me stay fit, active, and healthy as I move into an older stage of life. The doctors of the practice take a holistic approach seeking the root causes of ailments rather than merely addressing symptoms as seems to be the norm for many medical practices these days due. If you want to get ahead of health problems instead of dealing with them only after they arise, this is a medical practice that is highly worth investigating.

We have utilized the patient portal for questions between visits and receive an answer the same day. The billing department was extremely rude--they even disconnected the call while making excuses about why my question wasn't covered under the well-child visit. My son has had documented allergies since he was six months old, and it's clearly recorded in his pediatric history. During his two-year well-child check, we requested a referral to an allergy clinic--something we already knew he needed. However, we were later charged, with the claim that the doctor "diagnosed" his allergy, despite us already having this information. Even the provider mentioned that I could directly contact the referral department. Since we were already at the appointment, we asked the doctor about the process for referral. Ironically, the referral never went through--their response was that it was "accidentally closed." I had to call the referral department myself to get it submitted again. The billing department's explanation? If I had asked the referral department myself, there wouldn't be a charge, but because the doctor took time to submit it, I now have to pay for it. This isn't the first time I've faced such issues with them. I've decided to move away from Allegro, and I strongly recommend looking for a better pediatric clinic to avoid similar frustrations.
