I brought my car to Zorik for an assessment, and he immediately impressed me with his honesty and attentiveness. Zorik replaced the steering fluid at no charge and encouraged me to drive the car for a couple of days to see if things improved before moving forward with larger repairs. Ultimately, Zorik recommended replacing the rack and pinion and, given my car's mileage, the timing belt as well. Unlike the Volvo dealership, which told me they needed to "call Sweden" because no rack and pinion parts were available in the United States. Zorik quickly located the Volvo parts, completed the work in just four days, and even showed me the old components to explain exactly what had been replaced. The price he quoted was exactly what I paid. Zorik treats his customers with the kind of care and guidance you'd expect from a trusted friend -- not a service advisor reading from a script or an accountant managing their profit and loss statement. I came across Zoric by searching online and seeing which Swedish Auto mechanic shop had the best reviews. It was not hard to come across Swedish Auto Tech's page. After spending a brief amount of time reading some of the other reviews, I decided to give him a call regarding my 2017 Volvo XC90 having a Lean Code. My other mechanic was having a hard time figuring out the issue so I figured I should try and find a specialist. Zoric answered my call very quickly and was very attentive to my request. He told me to bring the car in the next day in the morning. I had a great feeling from the energy of the phone call and the next day I met him in person. He told me some possible causes right off the bet and he made me feel at ease as he told me to not worry and that he would take care of the problem. The following day from the drop-off day he gave me a call letting me know that he felt that the O2 sensor was the source of the problem. Additionally, he told me that he would still drive the car a bit after changing the O2 sensor before determining fully that it was the cause of the code. This was on a Wednesday. Friday morning he called me and let me know the car is ready. I went Saturday morning to pick it up and had a brief conversation where he explained some of the issues with my model car and a quick summary of his assessment. The experience was very professional, prompt, and informative. I highly recommend Zoric and Swedish Auto Tech to fellow citizens in the Los Angeles area, and even outside of LA County. I took my car here to get a check engine notification resolved, they asked me to do a spark plug change since I passed my mileage for that service and was due. A mont after the work was done, coming back from Palm Springs the car Check engine came on and it went into turtle mode. Come to find out a spark plug blew up. These guys saved me a lot of money. I took my 2018 V60 to Pasadena Rusnak for air conditioning service. After spending almost 200 bucks on an inspection. I was told i need to replace my AC Condenser for a whopping 2400. Also, that might not do it so they will have to maybe recharge the ac system. I took my car home and searched around. Zorik picked up and told me that sounds fishy, bring your car in. After the free inspection, recharge and replacement of a few tiny parts, the AC flows goriously. Took my 2012 XC60 to this shop. They were honest, they weren't expensive, and my car hasn't had an issue since coming here. I had burnt out coils, which affected my catalytic converter. He didn't have the new piece in stock and he even suggested I take my car to a volvo dealership to compare prices. The diagnostic was the same there as he gave me, and he was thousands cheaper. I'm very happy with their work. My Volvo C70 convertible had been overheating and loosing coolant. Zorick fixed my car when all hope seemed gone. They did all the work very well and on budget. It was not cheap but appropriate for the job. I took the car to two other mechanics and one said head gasket was blown and probably the engine was blown and to throw the car away. (Charged me $200 to tell me that.) The next one said he would do the head gasket (valve Job) but if he broke an engine bolt, he would not be able to get it out and he would sell me a used engine... Zorick at Swedish Auto Tech said he could do the valve job and if a bolt broke he had a machinist that could get it out. :-) At the end none of that was needed, he did the valve job, nothing broken and car running great! No coolant leak and lots of power. read more

I bought my mom a Volvo 240 wagon to be her run around/road trip car. My mom is super particular about needing cold AC as she spends a lot of time in the desert and driving between AZ and Idaho. This business was amazing in identifying that her wagon had already been converted and that she just had some minor leaks to fix to make her system run tip top on the AZ summer, it's been 6 months since this fox and the car is reportedly doing AMAZING. Volvos are diva cars. You need to take them to specialized places only. After having a bad experience with another place in the area, I looked on line and found Alfred's Auto Tech. Glad I did. For a few years we take our Volvo here for maintenance work and all sorts of repairs. Alfred is a man of a few words, but he has the same people working for him, that makes things easier. They take care of everything within the same day, unless they need to order parts and they get it done ASAP, by next day or so. They care, they make sure they don't keep your car for long. They also check your car for free if the engine light comes up or something like it. They make sure everything is safe, but they don't change parts that can last you a bit longer just to charge you more, so that's nice nowadays. Clean place, Alfred is nice, he even kept the place opened later when we had to tow the car to him last year for an emergency situation. This is a place we trust and I'm glad it's close by. read more

These guys at Swedish Auto Tech are LIARS, not to be trusted. They installed the two new tires I purchased from them on the incorrect axles, did not rotate any tires, did the job completely wrong from how it was discussed. They would not admit to making the mistake, would not commit to fixing the problem. Instead the owner laughed at me, and then complained they didn't make enough money on my job to warrant taking care of the problem they created (the issue being my new tires, which were actually more expensive here then the Audi dealer, were now on the back and require an additional tire rotation they refused to perform, which they originally said they would). I was dumbfounded at how they laughed off not doing the work they said they'd do and still charged full price, left me no option if I wanted my car, basically strong-arming me. Clearly I'll never go back here, and I'll make sure no one I know does either. Amateur hour, abundance of lies and the classic take-advantage attitude. You're better off...anywhere else. If you happen to run into the owner of Swedish Auto Tech, the slimey sleezey filthy bald little golem-looking grease-weasel...don't believe a word he says. Alfred has done so many things over the years for me, trying to save me money and giving me advice about what needs to be done and what I can anticipate happening with an older car. As Alfred says, these cars are meant to go on for 100's of thousands of miles... however, they will need repairs from time to time. Things do wear out! A few weeks ago, my Volvo S40 started rumbling and vibrating - it ended up stalling in the middle of Hollywood. I had it towed to a random auto shop close to my house where they charged me 1,000+ to fix a number of issues, charging 135 dollars to diagnose EACH issue. Two days later, I drove it out of the lot -- it was still vibrating. Two days after that, the check engine light came back on and the shop tried to charge me another 135 dollars to diagnose it again. I took it here instead. Alfred charged me nothing to diagnose the car, and he found the problem right away -- old spark plugs -- and charged around 100 dollars, giving me tips on how to avoid the issue and what items I should have fixed on my next visit. Everyone was so kind and non-condescending. And they're experts in cars like Volvos, so you won't waste money on unnecessary fixes offered by mechanics who don't know what they're talking about. This is my 5th Volvo (1998 v70 GLT Wagon) and I'm so bummed I didn't find Alfred sooner. Alfred is a gem of a man, as well as a knowledgeable Volvo mechanic. As echoed in other reviews, he is a man of few words, but knows Swedish cars inside and out. Another mechanic in his shop, Edwin, worked on my car, and together we did a compression test which a local Volvo mechanic wanted to charge me $100 for - it turns out that not only did the oil filler cap gasket need replacing (he could have charged me for the gasket and the cap, but didn't - only the gasket) but the third plug needed replacing so we replaced all 5 with genuine Volvo plugs, even though I asked for aftermarket ones. I'm glad now we did. They will last longer and allow the car to run better than OEM ones. He cares about my engine lasting - another mechanic might have bent to my wishes and installed aftermarket plugs that didn't either a) run so long or b) damage my engine. Alfred advised me that the thermometer needed replacing also so that will be done next and for sure it will be done by him. My car has 214,000 miles on it and it looks brand new and I want it to keep going and there's no reason it can't go to 400,000. It runs like a top and Alfred is my man from now on! But p.s. - don't bring him donuts. :-) read more

These guys are AWESOME and very honest! They were able to diagnose and fix an evaporative emissions leak on a 2007 Audi A4 when my other awesome mechanic couldn't find any issues. Alfred only charged me $95 diagnostic plus $45 for a purge valve replacement, no more check engine light! Other shops wanted at least $125/hr diagnostic and one even quoted me 2 hours worth without seeing the car! Try them out for your European car. read more
