Big problem when shipping glass jars of anything - most times it arrives broken due to very poor package and not enough bubble wrap to cushion the shipment from breakage. Ex: I placed an order in late Nov 2015 and finally after the fourth shipment (the prior shipments arrived broken) the merchandise arrived in acceptable condition. Swanson has a long history of poorly packaging shipments compared to just about any other online vitamin company. Billing issues: They will constantly say you "owe them money" when that is impossible since they take your credit card number upon taking your order and reserve that amount with the credit card company. They never send out shipments unless they are paid first! Do yourself a huge favor and shop else - if you want a suggestion try Pureformulas out of Florida - great and easy to wok with and will ship 2nd day air at no cost to you if your order comes to $150 gross before any discounts. read more

NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. I placed an order over 2 weeks ago. I tried to place it one night and it didn't go through. The next morning I completed the order using PayPal. PP is a safe and easy way to pay/receive payment, which is how I receive payment in my online store. I was charged twice for the same order. I knew it was a mistake b/c the first time I tried to order it did not go through and I only received e-mail confirmation for ONE order. I have now called 4 times in over two weeks-allowing time for the hold to be taken off. Each Customer Service Rep I talk to says they can see the charge, but it's not attached to an order. This means there is absolutely no reason the money should not be released. Someone in Billing simply needs to go into their PP account and verify that the charge is void. I placed the order at the end of February and I MIGHT have the money released in May by MY PP account if the charge continues to not go through and stay pending. I have now paid $100 for a $50 order. This was not my first purchase. I was becoming a regular customer. However, I WILL NOT be using them anymore. Every phone call ends in an e-mail sent to someone who never takes care of the issue. I have yet to receive a call either, which I was told I would. This is a simple problem with a simple solution and an overall terrible customer service call to action. BUY SOMEWHERE ELSE. I have ordered from Swanson for the past several years with no problem. The last order I placed did not come within the normal time period, so I called their customer service department. I was told rather bluntly that they had 7 business days (Mon-Fri) even though UPS delivers on Saturday to get my package. When I did not receive in 7 days, I called again and was told they had 7-10 business days, again with no compassion. When I did not receive the next day and through my tracking saw where UPS had delivered to the Post Office, I called again. I was told that UPS had raised their rates and they were now using a hybrid distribution using both UPS and US Post Office. None of the 3 customer services reps seemed to give a rip about my problem. They said basically I could take it or leave it. I told them to remove my email from their database and quit sending me daily solicitations. i have been using swanson's thryoid capusles for a month now, i use the capsules to keep my metabolism and body temperature normal as i would get cold quickly in cold weather. anyway the swanson brand has worked just as well as more expensive brands and i am going to continue to use this product and company for my supplemental needs. read more

This is by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. I placed an order, then the following day they emailed me demanding documentation with my credit card details, full name & address to prove that I wasn't committing credit card fraud! I provided the details, then was advised that what I provided wasn't sufficient so they then demanded a copy of my credit card statement. I emailed them the documentation that was requested & they assured me that my order had been progressed. 24hrs later, the order status was still "on hold" so I again contacted them only to be again assured that my order had been progressed. 24hrs after that, the order was still on hold, so again I contacted them. On this occasion, I was advised that there was an issue with my order as they had lost the email with my private verification details which included my credit card #, full name & address. How utterly incompetent & shady! This company is only concerned with covering themselves at the expense of their customers. They literally wasted several hours of my time for nothing. I've never had a single problem with iherb or vitacost & they have the decency to offer international customers the safe & secure option of paypal. If i'd read Swanson's appalling reviews earlier, I would have run for the hills! read more

This online store is rapidly declining. Up until recently I loved them and the service they provide. They only sent half my order and didn't inform me that they were actually out of stock on a few items. When I contacted them, their rep didn't apologize and even told me I should have read the invoice that it had been backordered. He then told me I should have looked online when I ordered to to see if it had been backordered or was in stock? I've never had an issue prior to this as whenever it was in stock it was available and if not it said "out of stock." Not knowing where the rest of my order was for the past couple of weeks is disturbing enough but when the rep basically blamed me and refused to make and kind of amends, such as credit towards my next purchase, he offered me a $5 coupon, really? They have lost a longstanding and loyal customer and based on the BBB's recent complaint I'm not the only customer they are treating badly. read more
