I called Aldrich to ask if they wanted to send someone out to repair it and I was told I could bring it back if I was not happy. I did not have time to do that so I drilled and tapped the remainder of the bolt out so I could use the machine. When I returned it I asked for a credit because I had to repair their equipment in order to use it. The employee behind the counter did not respond. So I asked if that lack of response meant no. He very abruptly said, "no, we will not give you a credit". Even if he would have knocked $5 off it would have been a nice gesture since I spent an hour of my time making the repair. At the end of the day it is nothing to lose sleep over but it will prevent me from renting from them in the future.
