I randomly took a day trip to the charming little town of Orebro when I was visiting Stockholm for…read morea few days. After visiting the castle & doing some shopping, I wanted to warm up with a nice meal and a local suggested this food hall. It was quite spacious with a warm atmosphere, featuring several options, such as Italian, Japanese, burgers, but I was craving traditional Swedish cuisine.
There was one place offering an awesome lunch special of entree, salad, coffee or tea, and cookies for only around $14. The person I spoke with at the bar was welcoming and let me have a sample of the beef dish, served with tortilla chips, which was very tasty. I decided to go with the Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, and it was absolutely delicious! The meatballs were a substantial size and covered in this wonderfully well seasoned, savory gravy sauce. The meat was tender, full of flavor, succulent, as well as juicy. I definitely can no longer eat Swedish meatballs in the States and think they are good. Mashed potatoes were thick, nicely creamy, but not all that flavorful.
The salad was fresh and crunchy. I also enjoyed the coffee. The little cookies were a lovely treat. I'm glad I found this place to enjoy some home style cooking and relax a bit before heading back out in the snowy, chilly weather.
