They gave me 1 stretching brace from Ovation Medical and I bought the recommended heel lifting insoles. I went back for my follow up today to a whopping $888 bill!! They charged me for 2 braces (I only got 1), and said my insurance doesn't cover things. Well, this was a follow up since I am having no more pain and am back to running. They wouldn't let me see the doc till I paid. I told them I am going to take it up with my insurance because this is highway robbery. I paid just a portion of the bill and demanded that the 2nd brace be taken off my charges and the bill adjusted accordingly. The print out they gave me of the charges does not reflect this and I will be taking it up with my insurance company. They also claimed it was so high because my deductible for the year has not been met, however that is not the case as I just got off the phone yesterday with my insurance company about it and some back charges they made me and confirmed it has. But that isn't even the half of it. The brace they gave me is the real issue. The $405 charge PER BRACE made me super suspicious. $810 for 2 braces that I know didn't cost that much. Many runners suffer from these issues and use these braces for long run recovery and they are NOT paying that kind of money. So I looked it up online. The posterior night split they sold me - $49 with free shipping on Amazon!!!! RIGHT FROM THE MANUFACTUER! Some places sell it for as little as $36! You have got to be kidding me! What a total scam! This is insurance fraud if you ask me. That is a 626.5% mark up per brace!! I will not nor would I ever recommend this group to anyone. If you do go, get a listing of charges UPFRONT! Total scammers.

They aren't saccharine sweet, they are just REAL. Their wait times are unreal! Most, if not all of our doctor appointments are typically, 90% waiting 10% issue(s).With Dr. Stepnicka & Co. it's 5% waiting (if even that) 95%+ is spent addressing concerns, needs, desired outcomes, & casual conversation about our lives sprinkled in (hers & ours...what!!?). In our experience, other doctors barely seem to want to hear your issue(s) or so it seems. They are trying to punch through appointments. Dr. Stepnicka is too but she doesn't make us feel that way. The nurses will apologize if she doesn't come right in & they apologize again if she is 5+ min behind (that's crazy! I can't remember ever waiting more than 5 or so minutes). We easily wait 30+ min in ANY other doctors offices & that's just the exam room wait. Between my elderly father & myself we have been to too many doctors visits to count; we are well versed. Dr. Stepnicka is easy to talk to, makes herself available (not just lip service), has & will move her schedule around if you feel it's something urgent. She is unparalleled in her response time with call backs & portal messages. I hate that a couple people had bad experiences but I can attest this is NOT their standard of care. When I encounter any issue with other doctors offices I will try to gently bring up my issue & address the attitude (how's your day?) We are all human & have bad days. If an issue is frustrating & not being resolved to our satisfaction I will bring it up to the doctor. They typically are not aware of what's going on with their 1st impression front office or financial/billing. They want & need to know; word of mouth is their bread & butter. I try to put myself in the situation of the rude person & don't waste breath if it's not being resolved. 1 bad experience or 1 apple having a bad day or even 1 bad apple shouldn't spoil the bunch. I know this is a lot but Dr. Stepnicka has gone above & beyond for our Dad & that should be recognized & shouted from the roof top! We heart you, Dr. Stepnicka! Hmm, maybe I should have left a 1 star review so we can have her to ourselves. In long, if you need an extremely competent, give it to you straight, small town doctor in a big city vibe then Dr. Stepnicka & Ankle and Foot Centers of GA-Johns Creek is where it's at! * I do agree with the reviewer about accessible doors & an accessible curb near all accessible parking spaces. I've researched this & know it's not something the doctor's/lessees have decision making over (they can request it) but the lessor/owner of the building is the ultimate decision maker. I also found out that there were 2 places to find reviews on Dr. Jon Zarett, and there was only my 1 post on the other site with only his name, so decided to cut and paste that older review to this page under the name of "Atlanta Foot Care Group," especially since so few have bothered to give him the 5 stars I'm sure he deserves for his every patient. Anyway, here's what I wrote then, and I can gladly say it's still true plus my foot has healed up better than I could have expected: (Originally written Dec., 2014): I cannot recommend Dr. Jon Zarett and Georgia Podiatry more highly. They are the absolute best and the office experience is unique in today's usual world of big business medical centers. Instead you will find a smaller, comfortable (!) office where you are treated with special kindness and compassion by Dr. Zarett and his assistant, Jeff. I was a new patient, yet was seen in only a few days. I needed surgery soon due to insurance running out, and it was taken care of with special attention by Dr. Zarett. The surgery center he uses is excellent as well, so comfortable and warm. The anesthesiologist was especially kind. But shining above all is Dr. Zarett himself. He goes above and beyond for his patients. Obviously... because I was a new patient, yet he took all the time in the world to talk and explain everything to me, to show me he cared about me and to let me know that I had alternatives to surgery. I knew I wanted the surgery, though, and although I was a bit apprehensive, I needn't have been. I had the same surgery done on the other foot 20 years ago with quite a bit of pain for weeks afterward. This time with Dr. Zarett there was little pain in comparison. Of course there was some pain, but the difference is incredible! There is also just no trumping experience. Dr. Zarett has been doing this for well over 3 decades. It is no wonder that Dr. Spector is highly regaled in the sports medicine community. Upon checking in, my son was x-rayed and Dr. Spector had us seated and diagnosed within minutes. He then spent his time carefully reviewing the diagnosis, showing us images, and answering umpteen questions. We never felt rushed and although my son had a fairly grim diagnosis, we left feeling positive and upbeat that he could be healed with time and proper treatment. I would highly recommend Dr. Spector for any sports related injuries - it's no wonder why he's considered to be one of the best in his field, as both a podiatrist and a distance runner himself!

He suggested either orthotics or surgery. At first I thought the orthotics would be fine, then I remembered how bad it had been for me the winter before when I had to wear close-toed shoes all the time. The pain was immense. I decided to go for surgery. The surgery went well. Early recuperation was a little tough because I am a busy body, and being laid up didn't suit me. Dr. Corwin had to slow me down, but he was nice about it. However, after the 8 weeks of recuperation he said it would take I walked away with no problems or pain at all. It was pretty amazing! I took my daughter in to see Dr. Corwin as well because she was having problems with her ankle turning. His recommendation was to get different shoes and see how that goes. He recommended shoes that would work for long hours on your feet. He did not push surgery or even orthotics. He did what a good doctor would do, and what is best for the patient in his opinion. It may be tough to get an appointment here, but it is worth it to get to see Dr. Corwin.

She was warm, spot-on with her diagnosis, and thorough with her treatment. Even though she was "on-call" she worked with my pharmacy until they got my prescription right. What she prescribed eased my pain which allowed me to get some much needed sleep. My toe is now pain free and healing nicely. What was an extremely stressful situation was quickly turned into a positive experience. So Happy!

Due to my own stupidity and bad luck, I had an ingrown toenail coupled with athlete's foot. The athlete's foot had bent my toenail to curve in and dig into the flesh until I had an infection. I kept putting it off until I was hobbling along and found Dr. Stepnicka's office. She immediately treated it with some sort of icing spray and cut out the offending portion. Many thought I was going to lose the entire nail but not with her help! She even told me I should be feeling better within the hour and she was right! I didn't stopwatch it but it was within approximation; I was walking normally again. Clear and apparent evidence of her experience and expertise. I would recommend her to anyone and plan to go back for any future issues. Thanks Doc!
