Disappointed. I went to Chris for assistance with a serious financial issue concerning debt and…read morethe IRS. Had my initial consultation and he said he could help. Retained Chris. The bankruptcy process was long and arduous. Not a great deal of communication between us during to process. We started it in March and in July our paperwork was filed with the court. Okay so far, nothing really bad going on. Except, it was revealed to me that he himself was in bankruptcy for very much the same reason we were. That was until we had our initial hearing with the bankruptcy court. My debt was over the debt ceiling for the State of Oregon. Isn't this something that a bankruptcy attorney should know? Of course it is. After the hearing, our calls were not taken and only an email showed up. Need to research the problem. That is it. Meeting with him a week later, it was explained that he knew the debt ceiling and was hoping that the bankruptcy trustee would overlook the amount of debt I had since he slid another client through who exceeded the debt ceiling. My case was nothing but a gamble for him. He was rolling the dice with my financial future, my house and my life. I was then told after liens we placed on my house to come back and we could move forward. Fast forward. Contacted Chris. Provided a lien report for my home and. my current pay information. Weeks went by. Nothing. Followed up. Was told that he had not been able to get to it. Followed up again and this time, was kicked to the curb. Was told that he wouldn't be able to get to me for several weeks and that he was swamped with other work. I had hoped that after the massive fuck up with the filing of my case and the debit ceiling we ran into that our case might have gotten a little more attention. I now have a bankruptcy on my credit, having to. try to recover from the devastating credit advice, and still have issues with the IRS and liens on my house and no relief to show for it. DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY.

Chris was incredibly helpful explaining things to me, he stuck by me for months while I was asking questions, before I even filed. Finally when I was ready to file he made it VERY affordable and guided me along the way with each and every step. I would recommend anyone who is considering a Bk to see him, he will not pressure you and is very good at what he does. The level of attention he provides is also phenomenal. Some of these lawyers you can never get a hold of, he responds to me same day almost every single time. Thank you Chris for helping me get my life back. omid

Unfortunately they were unable to wrap me for personal reasons, but they gave me other people that could help. I really appreciated that. Honesty goes a really long way. I was referred to this firm specifically to assume representation for both my workers' compensation…read moreclaim and my employment termination matter. The referral was presented as a coordinated transfer to a larger firm capable of handling overlapping injury and employment law issues. This was not a general inquiry, it was intended to be a formal case handoff. When I contacted the office, staff appeared unfamiliar with my case and unaware of any referral communication. I was treated as a new cold inquiry rather than a client whose matter was being transferred. There was no evidence that case materials had been reviewed or that any attorney-to-attorney coordination had occurred prior to my outreach. The intake interaction was rushed and dismissive, with no meaningful attempt to gather background details or establish continuity of representation. Given the complexity and seriousness of combined workers' compensation and termination matters, this lack of preparation and professionalism was concerning. Being terminated while actively managing a workplace injury places clients in a particularly vulnerable position. In that context, proper referral handling and internal communication are essential. My experience reflected a breakdown in both. I would strongly advise prospective clients to confirm in writing that referrals are formally accepted, files are transferred, and case reviews have occurred before relying on this firm for representation.

After the 2.5 week…read moretraining session concluded, I elected to seek other opportunities and left my employer on good terms. I had filled out my timesheet each week. My employment was as a contractor, separate from the company I was working for actually. After 2+ weeks of not being paid at all (over a month delay total), I reached out to Schuck Law after searching the internet for a solution. According to Karen, who cited Oregon State Law, I should have been expecting my final paycheck to be deposited/delivered to me within 24 hours of my ending employment. After talking to Karen, I made the formal decision to hire Schuck Law, and specifically have Karen represent my case Karen and her staff worked with me diligently, patiently, and eventually was able to resolve my situation in my favor. It took a goodly bit, over 3 months to resolve, but I thanks to the clear expectations set forth to me by Karen, I expected this. In the end my pay was addressed, albeit 4+ months late. I was most impressed with was their candor about how to handle this, what to expect, and how things would eventually play out. Karen made it clear that this whole endeavor was a process, and that the process needed to play out accordingly. My former contracting agency at first balked regarding any penalty wages, let alone paying me what I had worked (and forget the legal fees for Schuck Law LLC), but when all was finished, both Shuck Law and myself were paid as expected, including penalty wages. In over 25 years of working I have never had a situation like this, but I am grateful that my first time allowed me to find a great solution to addressing my needs. I consider myself quite fortunate to have found an honest, diligent, and reputable law firm to represent my needs. I have had little reason to involve an attorney in my life, but the one time I did, I found someone I would easily recommend to others. Karen and her staff was excellent, and treated my situation with respect and understanding. I am sure there are attorney's out there that are worse, but I seriously doubt there are others that are better. If you have a wage claim issue, and you feel your employer or former employer has violated state or federal laws in Oregon (or Washington), please do not hesitate to call them. I sincerely hope I never have to go thru something like this again, but if I do, I know who I would call if need be..

I did, and got an auto-reply saying I'd hear back in 3 days. 1 week later, I still didn't hear back so I went out of my way to follow up. They claimed they escalated to the office manager to expedite my review. A week after that, still nothing. I emailed again, and they said there was no change and there's nothing they could do. They were obviously giving me the runaround. How could a big law firm like HKM not have the staff to complete an intake in a timely manner? It took them over 3 weeks to finally email me back "no." All these guys want are easy cases that they can win big bucks. The second your case is a little bit different or (Gasp!) they find out you're not in a protected class, they shut down. They claimed their "analysis" didn't find enough "points" in my intake to represent me. (Translation: they thought my case was too hard or wouldn't make them enough money.) But of course it didn't? My intake was just a brief summary! The intake specialist said I didn't need to include all the details and that an attorney would call me to discuss my case! But of course they didn't bother calling. They're too lazy. To be clear, I had a straightforward retaliation case. But I guess that's not good enough huh?
