It's places like this that make Brighton what it is. The digital industry here is one of the best in the country, and the Sussex Innovation Centre is right at the very centre of it. Basically, start-up innovation businesses can rent out offices here and build on what they already have. The SINC's mission statement was to make as many millionaires as possible, and although I'm not sure how many they have made, they have sure helped grow some brilliant businesses. Tenants include motorcycle safety geniuses Thermahelm, digital marketers White Hat, and a range of brilliant web designers, medical researchers, and a great support centre who help out with PR, marketing, business strategies and sales. There's a Costa Coffee on-site which serves food too. This is not the best aspect of the centre, but then there are plenty of other places to grab a bite on the beautiful Sussex campus where the building is based, and for coffee alone Costa isn't too bad. I think Brighton's media industry has a lot to thank the Innovation Centre for. It's helped it grow into the hub of digital. read more

The Sussex Innovation Centre is an award-winning incubation centre for small or start up technology businesses. I have a few experiences with the dozens of businesses inside, having attended interviews and applied for jobs at PasPic, White Hat Media aand Key Wealth Solutions. As well as working for both Poll The People and Sussex Learning Network previously. The centre is definitely worth looking up if you're a student looking for experience in a sector like marketing, ICT, or even telesales and admin. Try approaching companies personally by using the website as not all vacancies are widely advertised. A huge credit to the centre is internship manager Patsie Sutcliffe who runs the Sussex branch of Shell Step - a placement scheme for undergrads and recent graduates. She has personally championed my applications in various situations and seems to genuinely care about opening up as many opportunities to people as possible. The centre boasts excellent access to various facilities - such as a libary and health centre - on the Sussex University campus where it is situated. As it's high up on the side of campus there're fantastic views across the South Downs too. In my opinion this is a far too little tapped resource by sudents at the university. read more
