For appetizers, we had the following: crab rangoons-fried to a crispy perfection and filled with an ample amount of crab. fried squid - think long strands of calamari in a light tempura batter, delicious! edamame - steamed just right. Seaweed salad - flavorful The nigiri were the largest pieces of fish we have ever had. The tuna and salmon were melt in your mouth perfection. The baked rolls take 20 minutes to cook, so we ordered the following right away: Fox Fire - It's a California roll topped with a variety of seafood. It's a nice mix without tasty "fishy." Popcorn - which has fried catfish and calamari inside and out, and torched white tuna outside too. This was a big hit with our "non-sushi" eaters. Salmon Surprise - came with baked salmon. Our "sushi" eaters didn't "love" it because it was baked, and our "non-sushi" eaters thought it was too fishy. With that being said, they still managed to eat every bite:) The Pink Lady - it's the perfect roll to introduce new textures to "new to sushi" friends. It's wrapped in visually pleasing pink soy paper and filled with mild shrimp tempura. The Volcano - a massive roll topped with tuna, salmon, and yellow tail. A delectable spicy blend. I expect a restaurant to have great food and offer service, but the Sushi Train offered an intangible gift on Saturday, January 24, 2026. There was a nationwide winter storm, Fern, which closed down much of Tulsa. We had flown in from California and met family from two hours away to celebrate our daughter's 50th birthday. First of all, the idea of this restaurant is very unique for being in Tulsa. The sushi here is very good and tasty. The service is great and they ask how your experience is going! The ambience is very good too and very cool how they make the sushi. One thing is to keep an eye out of the plates to make sure you don't over spend. It is a little overpriced though because you get around 4 pieces of sushi at the most being 4.79$. But overall good sushi and good restaurant! The owner wasn't friendly, and the sushi itself was bland and completely lacking flavor. The whole "train-style" sushi setup was more of a hassle than a fun concept. It was hard to grab what you actually wanted as it zipped by, and we quickly realized that even though each plate is supposed to be priced differently, we were charged the same high price for all five--even the cheaper ones. The service was equally disappointing. I had to repeatedly ask for wasabi, and even getting a plate from the waiter was a chore. This was a interesting place to grab lunch. My business associates wanted come here for lunch since we all enjoy sushi. It wasn't anything like I expected. We choose a table to the side which was so wobbly. It was hard to eat and keep the table level - thankfully sushi are small bites. The waiter came and took our drink order - he wasn't the best but managed ok. To serve yourself you made your way to the train to take the sushi you wanted. Sadly there were no labels on the plates so it was a guessing game. The only one that had a label was the T.N.T - which had a sign very very very very spicy. Don't get me wrong it was spicy but I thought it was more on the moderate side. It had the heat that snuck up on you after a minute. I did enjoy it! The price of the sushi was determined by the color of the plate that you chose. I took a few different colored plates and there was nothing that I chose that I didn't like. I also chose a side order of Salmon Roe & Flying Fish eggs. I knew my party would be reluctant to order but they are two of my favorites so they had to try. I love this place! It looks like a hole-in-the-wall when you enter, but forget that. I'm there for the food, not the decor. The gimmick is that a toy train moves around a track in the center of the restaurant, with plates of various types of sushi on it. You grab whatever you want off the train, and they add up your bill later based on the number (and colors) of plates you've grabbed. They have a great selection of very good sushi at very reasonable prices. You know it's fresh, because you can see the preparers making it just a few feet away from where you sit, behind the train track. I go there several times a month, and I've never been disappointed. One minor complaint ... Most of the plates on the train have signs to tell you what they are and what's in them, but often some of them don't have signs. I'm not going to choose a plate off the train if I don't know what's in it. EVERY PLATE SHOULD HAVE A SIGN. I hope the managers read this! read more

It's so good it's my family's favorite place to go to for sushi and mine and my fiancés only place we like for sushi with the exception of sakuras down in Muskogee. Everything's good from everyone's perspective and experience but I have my top 5 go to favorite rolls. My #1 being the popcorn roll. Service (from waitstaff) is ok, sitting at the bar is more fun cause the sushi chefs will talk to you. And you request a plate of a roll you want to be on the train. My fiancé and I go rather often and talk with the sushi chefs while we're there since they recognize us. It's a very chill environment and experience, super fun when you bring a group with you to. My eldest daughter wanted to get sushi for her birthday and asked to go to Sushi Train. None of us had ever been there before so I was looking to have a new experience. I am not one to really eat sushi but I did try some tonight. We got seated quickly and got our drink orders served fast as well. Our food orders were a little sporadic when they brought them out to us. Everyone enjoyed their food. I got the Philly roll which was smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese. As my entrée, I got the chicken teriyaki with fried rice. It was a nice meal. As a personal preference I am not a sushi fan so I don't think I will be back for a while. Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and thankfully it wasn't too packed (but they'd filled up by the time I left.) Was greeted immediately and told to grab any table I liked. The server was nice enough to give me a rundown as a first timer. I was sat at the furthest back booth closest to the kitchen. This is the ideal spot for getting first dibs on the sushi train. The prices of the plates ranged from $3-5. The variety was alright. There were quite a few deep fried rolls as options, but I personally prefer raw rolls. The few raw rolls on the train were pretty basic. They have over 20 rolls on the menu and even more off menu; which your welcome to order if the train's not doing it for you. The sushi's not the highest grade sushi, but it's pretty good for the price. I got 3 plates off the train, salmon and eel nigiri, plus a soda which came to $27. I considered getting more, but was comfortably full. The flavors were on point. The nigiri kind of fell apart, but the salmon and eel tasted great. Excellent service. I sat at the bar, hoping to pick options from the train, but they were very limited. My fault though, as I was having a late lunch and arrived 25 minutes before they close until dinner hours. I ordered a couple items from the menu and they were both very good. I went here on a Friday at 5:30 and it was a little busy but nothing crazy. They did seem to have a lot of to go orders. Sadly, I sat down and order just two things and it took a very long time for them to come. The train only had a few rolls and they weren't really refilling it so there were not a lot of options. My water and miso soup came out fast but my two rolls I ordered took a long time and one of them, I saw the guy making and when he finished, he didn't give one to me so I had to ask and explain that was the role I ordered. So, walking in, the "host" (who I later discovered was the owner) didn't even get up off his butt to greet us & show us to a table. He was sitting at a booth & with an attitude, pointed and said, "There's 3 of you? There's a booth over there in the corner, go sit in it." That should have been a red flag but we still entered. Floors are dirty. Grime build up on the edges and corners of the entire restaurant. An open bucket of paint sitting by the phone booth. Underneath my table, there was a bunch of old food that got stuck to the bottom of my shoe. Staff with long beards with & beard nets. Sushi was tasteless. The "train" was more like the amtrack, moving too quickly, difficult to even be able to grab any sushi off of it. Plates were supposed to be labeled by different colors for prices, there was no color on any of the plates, and we were charged the highest price for every single plate we were actually able grab off the Sushi Amtrack. Had to ask 3 times for ginger and wasabi. Ordered a large rice plate, and it didn't even come with a serving spoon, came with 2 small plastic forks which was impossible to serve on our plates. No one checked on us to see if we were doing ok after we received the food. When it was time for our tab, we had to ask for it, and someone came to our table, aggressively asking us what we ordered and scribbled it down on paper, then when we were walking to the register to pay, someone ran up to us, accusing us of us missing something on the "tab" which was something I ordered, but never received. Convenient they remembered it when it was time to pay, but didn't remember it when I was sitting there waiting for it! WTH!? What kind of "system" is that? I ended up going home and scrubbing the bottom of my Jordans of all the old food that was on the floor just walking in that place. read more

So since I see reviews from people just being assholes and giving one star reviews when you didn't even eat here, thought I would leave a good review. I have never had a bad experience at Sushi Train. This isn't Chicago or wherever else they have conveyer belt sushi apparatuses. This is Oklahoma. The fact we have this awesome of a place here is INSANELY AWESOME TO ME. First of all, the train is just. Soo cool. A lot is the time they have super crazy spicy rolls on it so I can't eat those, but the Crunchy Cali and Krusty Krab are my favs. The Gyoza is good, only downfall is no sauce but that's okay. They're super good without it. Wasn't a huge fan of the egg rolls, but that's just me being super spoiled by Thai egg rolls haha. The tempura chicken I think it is with the sauce is SOOOO INCREDIBLY GOOD WOW. I wish I could eat this every day. I try to go to sushi train every payday so I can gorge abs not feel bad I dropped $25 on sushi. To each their own but I love this place and if I had one single complaint it would be that they hide the ancient pay phone that I saw behind a current exiting the girls bathroom. It hurts to write a negative review about a place we really wanted to like, but our experience here was not good. My wife and I sat at the bar and were greeted by a waitress (who took our drink order) and then a second waiter who explained the system to us. The both told us if we wanted to order something specific to let someone know, but we never saw either of them again. We ate a few plates of sushi off the train, but the train was empty most of the time (see the picture). When I asked the man making sushi in front of us if I could order a Volcano Roll, he said he didn't make special orders and only made sushi for the train. My wife eventually flagged someone down and ordered a volcano roll, but it took almost 20 minutes for it to arrive. We spent 20 minutes staring at our empty glasses of water and listening to the sushi chef talking on his phone's headset, complaining about "all the construction workers" coming in for lunch and, specifically, complaining about my wife and I and mumbling things like "people think they can just tell me what kind of sushi to make." If we had not already ordered the volcano roll we would have left. Overall I would say the volcano roll was good, the "train" sushi was just okay, and the staff made sure we won't be going back. read more

This place is by no means the swankiest place, but they more than make up for it by having some of the most affordable, delicious, and greatest variety of sushi in Tulsa! I don't ever want them to leave!! Even if they up charged my favorite roll a few $ it's still better than others and I love their deep fried oklahoma roll. You'll have the best experience if you manage your expectations and appreciate good sushi. It's not your typical restaurant: better than yoko or in the raw for sushi any day. It's an older space, however, I find the vibe laidback and inviting. I don't come here for good customer service, it's not guaranteed and you aren't paying for it either they aren't pushing you for tips. I don't mind that part just letting you now, depending on the time I've had both good and some ok service, but always good sushi. I've had the best service when I've been the most low maintenaince customer and ordered everything at the start rather than sporadic ordering and excessive questions. The last time I went the service was exceptional it was a quieter evening not crazy busy, they checked on me often and even saved me from spending money on a full roll when I wanted to try the spiciest roll they offered and offered to let me try it on the train first. That tuna is crazy crazy spicy. My go to roll is the Oklahoma roll it's sweet savory and deep fried: salmon, cream cheese, avocado, masago My tips for someone new~ ‼ Sit at a booth by the train or the sushi bar in front of the train to watch them go around. I order full rolls rather than doing the train but i get tempted occasionally its also just fun to watch it go around and see what other rolls they have. I like to watch them make the rolls too its neat. If you're weird about the idea of it being out om the train and not knowing how fresh it is just order off the menu so they can gain your trust haha. If there's nothing on the train you're interested in or something on the menu you'd like to see of the train to try rather than committing to a full roll. They have signs on the wall to indicate how much each plate costs based on color. If you are confused and its your first time be sure to let them know that because they can be used to regulars If they aren't crazy busy you can ask them nicely and there's a good chance they'd accommodate the request. If you like the extra sauce, ask for sides of eel sauce or spicy mayo, eel sauce is a must for me I love sweet sauce. They have soy sauce out on the table if you don't get a container to pour it in you can ask for one and if you order extra sauce theres usually an open side you can use to your liking. You usually have to ask for wasabi or ginger too, they don't always ask I don't like either so I'm happy about that. When you're done be sure to let them know, they will go with you to the register or wrote down your order + the train plates on a piece of paper to give to whoever works the register. This is a lovely place and my go to personal favorite my friends have heard me talk about it for years telling them they need to do it if they love sushi! Stay around forever sushi train! read more

Today , I'm assuming it's the guy in charge, showed poor customer service. My husband and I came here because in the past the fried rice was good. We didn't get sushi because we needed lunch for work. Anyways, upon walking in, the air was musty and it smelled like old mop water. It's 130pm. The guy was like barely looking at us. Just his phone. After so many years I'd think they would fix the place up to make it nice, replace things on the wall that are broken. This place is definitely not your typical sushi looking restaurant. It's a "it'll do". Pick up services have taken over one side of the bar area so there's even less spots to sit. The sushi train happens to be 3 minutes from my work (walking distance really) and it's on TripAdvisor top 10 Japanese restaurants in Tulsa, landing at number 6. It also has 4.3 out of 5 stars on google based on 1.3K reviews which is surprising to me. I am not sure how it got all these raving reviews but the fact it did make me question whether I should come back. The service is really bad after you come in and when you leave. No one was at the counter for me to pay. I had to wait for 5 minutes or so until someone came up to process my bill and it was not busy. The yellowtail nigiri tasted fishy which it should not, it was not fresh. The white tuna sashimi was fresh and did not taste fishy. Presentation was really basic compared to other places. I'm a little confused with the higher ratings this place has. It was takeout because they did not offer curbside and I was visiting Tulsa and craving sushi. The roll was the only good item I ordered and finished - asparagus added avocado. The yellowtail had a large bone in it and did not look appealing. Ae part of one. Also ordered combo fried rice. Cut up small shrimp with dry meats. On a plus it was a huge order - I also tossed. Side salad was presented nicely and the ginger dressing had plenty of shredded carrots. I ate 1/2. Another roll I ordered was not even with the order but I don't think they charged me based on cc charge. Husband went in and said crowded and no masks being worn.
