Great food - great service - sushi is fresh, spicy ramen soup was lovely. We're in town for a week and ate there twice. The down side is the entire restaurant is VERY DIRTY. The dark lighting camouflages the residual dirt that is caked onto the floors. Best sushi in WL and the city is fortunate to have 2 spots that have excellent sushi at a reasonable price! They have all the variety you'd find in the big city and everything is fresh, tasty, and authentic. The portions are generous with the Teriyaki beef dinner bento box being my top favourite. Tempura prawns are bang on and the Cali rolls are satisfying. Miso soup has lots of tofu which is nice and the service is always speedy and friendly. Will be back as soon as I can again! read more

My colleagues love this place, so we went back - and I'm getting on-board. This time I asked for half-sauce on the gomae, and that made it pretty damn good. The portion wasn't as huge this time. Miso was still good. I had the red dragon roll, which was enormous, and I could barely fit each piece in my mouth. I tasted the gyoza and yam tempura too - they were both pretty decent. This is probably the worst sushi restaurant I've ever been to. When we came in, the owner recommended us the $15.95 buffet, so we decided to give it a try. The food was just a huge disappointment, the nigiri barely had any fish/shrimp, it's just a huge chunk of rice with like a millimetre of meat on top, same with the other rolls, lots of rice and fake crab as fillers to meat and vegetables. The food also tasted bad, too sweet in some of the rolls, did you add sugar??? After eating a plate and a half of the food I was already full, with that huge cup of pop that they offered me. To sum it up, this is just a place that fills you with cheap fountain pop and tons of rice. WOULD NEVER COME AGAIN, OR RECOMMEND ANYONE TO COME HERE AND WASTE THEIR MONEY. read more

One of my favourite restaurants! I have tried sushi all over BC and I have yet to find a place that I like as much as Sushi California in Williams Lake! At lunchtime they have a buffet of cooked food (noodles, battered cod), and about 15 types of rolls for only $13. The décor is fresh and unique, and the staff are the friendliest bunch I have ever seen! I am never disappointed. read more

Very good sushi when your up north, Im not sure if its the same company as in vancouver.

We've had a lot of sushi and this was the worst. Here's our list of why and what we ordered. Ordered the $11 Dynamite/California roll combo, a Beef terriyaki roll, and kapa maki. Rice was chewy, like it had sat out too long. The tiny slices of avacado and cucumber in both the cali and dynamite rolls were barely traceable...mostly immitation crab. The prawn in the dynamite roll was so chewy and had to be leftovers from the day before. The bigger rolls weren't rolled very tight which made it hard to eat. Lastly, the beef in the terriyaki roll was very dry. And as if the food wasn't bad enough, it took 10 minutes for them to give us dishes for our soya sauce and longer to deliver a missing plate of sushi. When we went to pay, the owner asked us how the food was...and we were honest. They weren't having it...very defensive and even the sushi rollers who were overhearing were shaking their heads. Bad business when you refuse to hear honest, possibly negative, feedback. At least she refused to take our money. But we won't be returning...ever. read more
