Delicious starters
Jane S.

We were impressed by the quality of the sushi and all the food. We've never tried Hokkaido style omakase so we loved that they prepared some new ingredients and flavors on the starters. We loved watching the chef prepare each course with time and care, and everything was delicious. They're relatively new to Montrose and we were so impressed to find this kind of quality here, especially at this price point. Soft chatter ambience and good for a more private dining, a great place for a date for foodies (omakases take time so maybe not for the first date). I could tell that the omakase experience is new to the neighborhood seeing some of the reactions to the courses coming out. Private-like bar-style dining and Ample parking in the back.

3 kinds of sashimi: scallops, ahi and I didn't hear the last one but it tasted like halibut. All served with its own spices.

My family's second time with Sushi Nakata's omakase. The first was during its soft opening, which was delicious but I ended up feeling very full afterwards. This time was exactly the right amount of fish and rice, particularly the rice, which was kept to a minimum, my personal preference. Everything was chosen by Nari-san with precision and excellence and I loved seeing the cuts of fish prior to him slicing into them. Chawanmushi is steamed hot to begin your meal, all served in a Hokkaido-style presentation. I've never tried Fire Fly Squid before and it was a revelation next to the monkfish liver and raw oyster. Most of the sushi prepared did not require additional soy sauce so it was very easy to eat, especially with your fingers. I am so happy we now have a fine omakase restaurant in the area. My only hope is that people in nearby cities do not discover it.

Where to begin? Nari san (the sushi chef) prepared the most amazing sushi we have had in a very long time. The quality, the freshness, the taste was incomparable. We would typically drive a good minimum 30 minutes outside from where we live in order to have quality sushi (Scratch, Sushi Nishi ya, Katsu-ya, Yuzu) This will not be the case any longer. If you want directly amazing sushi from Hokkaido Japan, without fluff covering the flavor, where the fish shines on its own because it's that good, this is the sushi restaurant to come to. Anu San, his wife, is extremely kind and attentive. The uni, monkfish liver, toro, sweet shrimp, handroll, was incomparable. The seaweed was fresh and crispy. Every detail was thought out, and their pride in the quality of their fish shone through. I couldn't wait to eat, so I didn't take enough pictures haha. We cannot wait to go back. Wow.

Amazing omakase experience! Every piece was so fresh and thoughtfully prepared -- you can really taste the quality and care in each bite. Service was attentive, and the pacing was perfect. Easily a great omakase dinner -- can't wait to come back!

One of the most enjoyable food experiences I have ever had. The Chef was very impressive in his preparation and presentation of food. The fish was super fresh and flavors out of this world. Just look at the pictures!!

Started off with the Matcha IPA beer (green deliciousness, a bit strong on the hop + matcha so beware), and ordered a few appetizers to start--edamame, karaage, seared albacore with onions, yellowtail jalapeño, ceviche (omg so good), shishito peppers--everything was amazing! And we were off to a great start. We ordered a few rolls, and sushi, and hadn't realized that each portion came with 2 pieces so we definitely ate a lot. Everything was very fresh, and the quality was amazing. As if it couldn't be better, the service was superb! The owners came to check on us multiple times, ensuring everything was according to our liking and nothing was amiss. Can't believe it was my first time here! Will definitely be back for my sushi cravings!!

The restaurant was pretty empty due to the extreme hot weather. We ordered the lunch specials and they were really fresh and delicious. (like their restaurant name) The server lady was very friendly and answered the questions that my daughter had. I accidently left my key after the lunch and they kept it safely for me. This restaurant deserve more business and highly recommend. Obviously we will be back this restaurant again sometime soon.

This spot is truly an absolute gem. We were warmly welcomed by the host and seated right away at the bar. The chef greeted us personally, and although there was a bit of a language barrier, he was incredibly sweet and patient while explaining each course and where the fish was sourced from. You could really tell how much care and pride went into every piece. Everything tasted so fresh and beautifully prepared. Each course flowed perfectly into the next, and by the end of the meal, we were surprisingly very full (which doesn't always happen with omakase!). To top it all off, we were treated to a homemade matcha cake with a candle, which was such a thoughtful and memorable birthday touch. It wasn't too busy during our visit, which we actually loved because it made the entire experience feel more intimate, just like other omakase experiences we've had. Highly recommend this place for celebrating special occasions, anniversaries, or birthdays. We'll definitely be back.

As we walked through the room, we noticed that every empty table had a "Reserved" sign on it. Yet in the entire hour we spent eating, not a single person or group came in and sat at any of those reserved tables. The hostess was somewhat rude and seemed to have a sense of urgency for us to hurry up and not waste a breath ordering, which made us feel rushed. Given how empty the place was, there was no reason for her urgency. The sushi and rolls we ordered were okay--very fresh--but the rolls didn't have much flavor. We had one roll with fried onions; it would have been nice if the onions were fresh, but they were obviously cooked long before and were cold and stale. We were the only two people at the very long sushi bar, and the sushi chefs kept placing orders for other tables directly in front of us over the bar, so the wait staff had to continually reach over our heads with other people's food. I will not eat here again and will not recommend it to anyone.

They have a few options for us gfdf folks. They seem to know the menu well enough to make specific suggestions. I went with the Luxe 3 roll with HYE, negi and truffle salmon. Wow-- each one was delicious and didn't even need soy sauce (they do have a gf shoyu). I was so impressed, I ordered an additional blue crab roll. You have to eat them fast- every second counts as the nori softens. The chefs were really friendly as were the staff. Everyone will probably compare this to Kazunori, which I haven't been to yet but my friend said it's comparable. Give it a try! I'll definitely be back.

From the moment I walked in, I was promptly and genuinely greeted by pretty much everyone working there; it set a welcoming tone right away. Even better, there was virtually no wait. I walked in and within minutes was already seated. The energy of the place is fast-paced, but it never feels rushed. Everything flows smoothly, and you can tell the team is locked in while still making sure guests feel relaxed and taken care of. I went with a 5-roll order and an individual roll, and every piece hit the spot. The salmon roll came out first and was the perfect start - fresh, buttery, and incredibly satisfying. The tuna followed and delivered that clean, rich flavor you want. Third was the amberjack, which had a really nice balance and depth. The scallop roll (fourth) was a standout: sweet, delicate, and expertly done. Fifth was the blue crab, fresh and full of flavor with great texture. I finished with wagyu, which was rich, indulgent, and the perfect closing note. Marcelle was exceptional. Even with the restaurant moving at full speed, his attention to detail never dropped. Everything was explained clearly, timed perfectly, and handled with professionalism. You can tell he takes pride in his work. Huge shoutout as well to Daniel, who stayed on top of everything the entire time: attentive, efficient, and always present when needed. Top-tier experience across the board. Perfect for a solo visit or otherwise, and definitely a 5-star spot.

I…read moreremembered that someone recommending Haruka while I somewhere nearby and decided to head there. Located in a small plaza, Haruka is a neighborhood favorite, and I can see why. The interior has a modern aesthetic and even on a Wednesday evening, it was packed with a wait. We didn't have to wait too long, but as we ate and had dinner I noticed that it was full consistently. We sat down and they have have a wide array of items on their menu. We went with 3 dinner specials which have a small options (one has tempura, another with a California Roll. and one with Both) safe to we ordered one of each. For Apps we got some Edamame and Kaarage. For Rolls, we went with Rainbow Roll and Catapillar Roll. Starting with apps, the edamame to me was good a touch less salt which was great for my father. The karaage was flavorful with that sesame taste and juicy interiror. To me it was rather small compared to what I am used to, but flavor wise on par. The Rainbow roll is a staple anywhere I go for the first time as that gives me the array of fish with a California roll. The fish was fresh tasting and to me was fine. My slight disappointment was with the Caterpillar Roll, my parents just returned from Japan and the first thing they compared the roll to was what they experienced over there. Not a fair comparison, but none the less I am posting it here as refence as I see the same in surrounding restuarants here. The dinner special comes with Miso Soup, Salad, Protein of choice, and a choice of side (tempura, California Roll, or both). We each got one of the combinations. The Chicken Teriyaki was juicy and good compared to what I normally get from similar restaurants. Overall, a good choice if your simply looking for something balanced. What won me over, was the service. The place was packed and the staff and manager were out there doing what they can, but I didn't hear a single complaint around the restaurant. Not about the wait times, nor the food, and that matters. A small interaction that I happened to pick up, was one of the staff helping an elderly gentleman put on his coat. A small gesture but to me means the world. If they can take a second to do that for him, they really care about your experience. As a local favorite, I can highly recommend this place not just that the food is good, but because service tipped my scale. Mind the place was packed and smiles all around from everyone. I will be back if I am around, I am so glad I was able to finally check this one off my list!
