This is one of the best sushi restaurants I have been to in the triangle area! I came here for lunch- they have a limited menu but a few lunch specials that were enticing. I ordered the sushi-sashimi bento and it was delicious. The bento included high quality, large cuts of fish. My favorites were the salmon sashimi and the tuna sushi although everything in the bento box was amazing. The fresh wasabi that came with it was also a perfect touch. The bento came with miso soup which was the most unique miso soup I have ever had. They add fish to the miso soup to make it more rich and flavorful. The restaurant itself is small and cozy so it fills up quickly. It is located in an office/apartment building. I would recommend parking in the attached parking garage as it's closest to the restaurant. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch here. Compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, this place easily outshines many of the other places. I look forward to returning to try more of their menu! read more

Disappointed by lack of service and professionalism. They were not slammed this evening. Our server took our order, brought us our water and he dropped our sushi order off with no explanation to my husband and son that we didn't need soy sauce or wasabi. I was talking to the people seated next to us who were giving us menu recommendations. We waited a considerable time. He never checked on us. Then I got up and asked any server for soy sauce and Wasabi. Another server brought it over, and I was told that it didn't need any since it was already in it. This was never communicated to us to begin with. We were ready to order two more dishes based on the recommendations from the customers seated next to us. When I let the server know that we were ready to order, he said to wait and then went to another table to take their order. Thought it was rude. When he came over, I changed my mind and asked for the bill. No apology or anything from him. When we left, I let the woman (hostess, server?)know. She apologized and said she's on her break. I also let the young hostess know as well. At least she apologized. I do not recommend. Hard to find this place on Google which was frustrating enough. The Seabream recommended to us as being "melt in your mouth" had a few tough spots. But when I went to go eat at their new location it seemed very refined and everything seemed to be executed better. Ordered the chirashi bowl and the donburi as our main entrees and they both were incredible. The chirashi bowl was light and had plenty of fish that mixed well together in the bowl. The donburi, was amazing. As someone who focuses on the texture of the food, the donburi was able to provide a little bit of everything. The charred rice, crispy bits, and soft fish and rice led to a very exciting dish that went above my expectations. It is now located on the base level of an office building (or maybe an apartment complex?). The vibe inside is kind of fancy and it suits well for a fancy night out or date night. The preparation with arugula and radish made me hesitate but I ultimately really enjoyed the addition of the arugula. It's a small space and very serene. They could likely accommodate a larger group in the lobby area outside the main dining room. If I could've eaten more, I would have...even considered going back my second night in Raleigh. Great flavor for the first few bites, but slowly the sweetness started showing through and being more dominant. The Rock Salt Seared Salmon was perfect. Could eat five more orders. We went with the Salmon Crunch Roll thinking the mango could bring a nice sweetness. Little did we know that would be the dominant seasoning towards the end of the meal. The roll was decent, I don't know, felt 'meh' for a specialty roll. Chirashi was good. The scattered presentation was interesting with the chunks of fish, gari, and roe scattered throughout. I suppose the idea was to help the diner get a different bite with each scoop. Sushi Mon is fantastic. I believe where they really shine are in their nigiris. The space was small but very elegant and serene located in a large building down the hall from the bank. Parking is difficult up front so I recommend to park in the parking deck behind the building. The sushi was phenomenal and was very high quality as many of the reviews suggest and I was also very impressed with the miso soup! There was actually fish bits in the soup so definitely not a typical recipe. I only wish that there were more specialized Nigiri options with a balance of citrus flavors or other sauces to balance the bites. Saw multiple tik-toks praising this place so I knew I had to try it immediately. It's a very small restaurant located near apartment buildings but has a very modern and intimate feel to it. It has nice floral and stone decorations with dim lighting and seating in front of the sushi chefs too. The sushi is not BOGO, but most top sushi places aren't. We got the kiss of fire, lion king, rainbow, crunch salmon, and salmon & avocado roll. If I knew how good the rainbow roll would be, I would've gotten 3 rainbow rolls, 1 salmon & avocado roll, and 1 lion king roll. The rainbow roll had so much flavor it beat every other roll by a LANDSLIDE. If you're gonna try any roll get this! The lion king baked roll comes in second place easily. It was creamy, baked with cheese, and veryyyy delicious, I just would've gotten no rice crackers next time because the rice balls were very hard and threw it off. I'm giving this place a 4 because of the very poor service. There was 1 host and 1 server for the entire place, and though it was a small restaurant you could tell 1 was not enough. There should not have even been a host, just two servers. He took over ten minutes to even greet us while checking on existing tables and walking by us multiple times, was forgetful and slow, and we had to ask for things like water. We also wanted to try the cod plate and had ordered it but it was never given to us. One of the sushi chefs was apologetic and gave us a rock salt salmon plate for free, which was very kind! Me and my sister decided to try a new sushi restaurant. I'm not a big fan of the Buy One Get One free (BOGO) sushi business model. So I was excited to try this establishment. First off, I love the vibe of the interior of the restaurant. My waiter was phenomenal and super helpful. Be prepared to wait for at least an hour or more because the restaurant is small, so I recommend coming when it first opens! If you have a party of 5 or more come early because there are only a few tables large enough to fit a party of 5 or more. Food: We ordered 2 rolls: the Lion King and Kiss of Fire. Both were incredible and the portion of fish was generous! The quality of both rolls was top notch and both rolls were unique! The rice to fish/crab was equal and good! Secondly, we both ordered the Omakase dinner which came with 8 nigiri, miso soup, a tuna hand roll, and the sponge cake as dessert! All the nigiris were fresh and well made. Wow!!!!! I have to say that this was the best sushi I have had since moving down here. I'm being serious. I read some of the reviews here before we went on Friday. Most if not all were very positive and stated that the food is awesome at Sushi Mon. Well, it most definitely is. We started with an order of the Gyoza Pork Dumplings. The dumplings were delicious. The Gyoza wrapping was freshly made and not pre-made. Sometimes, when you order dumplings like this, the wrapping could be a little hard or dried out. Not these. They were soft and moist. the filling was delicious and the dipping sauce was tangy which rounded out the flavors and seasoning of the meat filling. My wife ordered the X-O Tuna. The tuna was so fresh, the garlic chips were crunchy and the truffle aioli sauce was awesome. For dinner my son ordered the Salmon Crunch Roll and the Truffle Tuna Roll. He really liked both of them. I tried one of each and the fish was was really fresh. The rice was not sticky or starchy and the accompanying flavors went with the salmon and tuna nicely. Well, my wife made her won roll. She asked to have the salmon swapped out with the tuna and the chef accommodated her request. She enjoyed the roll very much. I ordered the Kiss of Fire Roll and the Lion King Roll. The Kiss of Fire was spicy but not overpowering. The Lion King had a nice crunch to it and the mozzarella and cream cheese added a nice texture to the roll. The only drawback is that the restaurant is really small and seating is limited. We sat in the lobby area of the building where they had high and low tables. This did not hurt the service at all. Our server stopped by often refilling the water glasses and asking if we needed anything. Like I said before, the food here is delicious. Service was very quick and friendly. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Fyi: they did not have Uni on the weekdays. I was told starting Friday, so maybe Fridays and Saturdays only for Uni lovers. Lunch lover should always get their lunch sized bento. They have moved three times in three years but I am glad that the quality and style of their food still remains as one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in NC and it's always a easy 4.5-5 star given the price performance. The new venue is a little bigger than what it was across the street - upbeat and stylish and heavily surrounded by earthy colors. The service is on the slower end, but the food definitely makes up for it. Miso soup is a must - chefs clearly spent hours cooking it and it is reflective in the texture. The unagi don has un-proportionally too much rice but the taste is still above average. The nigiri and the sashimi is spot on as usual even though I am not a big fan of the rolls.
