It was nice and intimate for the setting. Onwards to the sushi! I have been to Japan and I wanted to try their fresh fish nigiri among with a few rolls that our table was sharing. The fish quality was superb and was one of the best I've had. This is now my favorite sushi spot in town and I've been to quite a few locally. The server was very attentive and we got everything brought out in a nice timely manner. Highly recommend if you're checking for a spot in Lake O for sushi! I'm going to try their ramen and steak next time.

The family obliged. We started with the gyoza and takoyaki. The gyoza were the best we've had. We had been wanting to try takoyaki for awhile and figured we'd finally give it a try. It was tender and delicious. We also got 3 sushi rolls and loved them all, some of the freshest tasting sushi we've had. The katsu chicken was good, though the rolls and appetizers knocked it out of the park so far by that time we were spending a lot of time the rest of the meal talking about how good they were. The service was fast and friendly. We weren't familiar with Lake Oswego but it's a very nice/upscale area, away from the city. It reminded us of a few cities we have similar to it in the Bay Area. The restaurant itself is not tiny, but definitely intimate. The lighting is nice in there and a light was brought to our table, which was a nice touch. Tada is in my top 3 sushi spots I've ever tried, and the Bay Area (where I'm from) is no slouch when it comes to sushi. I would definitely come back if in Portland again and do a full course of sushi.

I'm choosing not to give them three stars because their food is so good. Apparently they had a…read moredishwasher employee quit so they were only seating about 60% of the restaurant. That happens, but it took us an extra 30 minutes before we got seated. The service was quick. The staff was friendly. The pricing is a little expensive, but the quality is worth it. We sat outside, which was perfect for August evening with the sun going down

We started off with the Brussels sprouts which were crispy bites of flavor in your mouth. The peppers add a little heat. The sauce has a sweetness to it. Combine all three together and perfection. We ordered four rolls. A traditional spicy tuna. The tuna was not ground up tuna which I have gotten at other many places but beautiful pieces with crispy cucumber to give it more texture and a nice heat but not so overpowering you lose the flavor of the tuna. The bamboo dragon was the least favorite of the table . Too much combined together and not enough flavor all at the same time. The sunset was the prettiest looking one. I felt the heat level took away from the flavor of the fish masking it too much for me. The unicorn which I asked for no cilantro was my favorite of the evening. The combination of the fishes with the seasoning of the oil was wonderful. I didn't even need the soy sauce. I of course tried all with the soy sauce and without to ensure I tasted them all both ways. Service was friendly and we were there towards closing so despite being asked to close out our bill we were told we could sit as long as we liked to talk. Overall very fresh and flavorful.

He kept saying how good and fresh the fish was ... even the soy sauce was really good. It was also my first time trying agedashi mochi, and wow, it was so good! Soft and stretchy on the inside with such a nice texture. Definitely a nice surprise! I also ordered the yuzu soda, which was super refreshing. It wasn't too busy today, so the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The staff was nice and everything went smoothly. We had a really lovely birthday dinner and would definitely come back!

Craved for some good quality fried foods, gotta spend my quota here at Sushi Kiichi!…read more I rarely eat fried foods but when I do, this is def. on my list. It was busy as there were two servers but the service was a bit slow. Hope they can find some help or rest after the busy day! Mom and I each got two fried foods so we could share and have some for another meal, too. Ebi fry: always good, flakey, and it went well with the tartar-like sauce, tonkatsu: nice thick slices and the batter stayed onto the meat (unlike another place haha). Kaarage: the pieces were a lot bigger than the usual karaage at other places but still good and juicy. Assorted tempura: I liked the assortment as there were quite a lot of veggies and of course the shrimp! We also loved the croquettes as they're so soft and fluffy on the inside and the other side dish with a crunchy texture and the little fried squid (or octopus?) I wish I could order more of those! Can't forget the miso soup as it's not salty at all (unlike the other Japanese restaurants I've been to) and they had different types of tofu inside- delish!

I've tried really hard to catch this place on a good day and haven't been able to. The service…read moreleaves a lot to be desired, typically I have to flag down a server if I need water or to order something, and the belts aren't well maintained to ensure quality. There's either less than 10 plates on the belt or dozens, and if I sit there for an hour or so, not a single plate is inspected or removed allowing the sushi to become room temperature. With the mix of items available, at least 60-70% of the plates will be some weird fruit sushi or grapes. And if it's not something weird in the rolls like peanuts or fruit, it's filled with cream cheese. Today, the worst offense was how oily every plate was, the soy sauce tray bowls were greasy from not being cleaned properly and the salmon was oily from what I presume was unthawing. When I had touched the salmon, my fingers had a heavy slime on them and, while I chose to eat it, a fishy residue remained in my mouth and on my lips until I washed it off. With that, my stomach is almost always queasy after visiting. I know the prices are great, but this quality of sushi is bound to get someone sick and I would not recommend coming here at all.

The sushi is sadly "not consistent". I also order the "too…read moregood to go" afternoon sushi box & we are disappointed that they fill the box up with egg rolls & desert bites instead of sushi rolls. Anyway, when they good it's good but unfortunately not consistent.
