This place is a must go! We've been here several times already and the sushi is fresh, tasty and did i say fresh?. They really thoughtful about presentation and flavor. The salmon sampler, they're fresh and each one will make you smile and hamachi carpaccio is really good, they're like butter. Great service and it is quick if you get there early before the crowds. I've been here before, the new owner did an excellent job made the ambiance brighter. Will come back soon!

Went to check out the newest iteration of a sushi restaurant at this location. Sushi and sashimi were very good. Fried squid, oysters and otoro were standouts for me. Solid new restaurant and great local neighborhood spot, but parking is a little tight in this small strip mall. Go check it out for yourself!

I went here with my parents for a Friday night dinner with a reservation, sometimes it's recommended especially if they're busy! There's a few tables inside, plus seating at the sushi bar. I got excited to see they have Omakase on their menu, and for pretty good price too! It's $40 for a 9 piece set, and they were all so delicious! When they serve it, they explain each nigiri, which I appreciate! We also ordered some appetizers such as Chicken Karaage, Spicy Edamame, and Mixed Tempura. All the food was great and I look forward to coming back again!

We've been meaning to try Sushi Kashiwa since it's close to home and we loved going to the prior sushi place before they took over the location. We had reservations for dinner on Sunday night, and the place was full so I'd recommend making reservations or coming before peak hours. We ordered plenty of dishes to try and we absolutely loved it! My favorites were the Geso Karaage and sashimi. Their fish was fresh and I love that their Geso Karaage were thick pieces with plenty of meat to them. Most places I've been the squid is thin and more batter than meat. Overall, very happy we checked it out and grateful for the complimentary dragon roll! Congrats on the 2-year anniversary and hope there's many more to come. We'll definitely be back.

I've been dying to try this sushi spot since stumbling upon it months ago- imagine my good fortune when I ended up moving north and finding a hike within reasonable distance of this sushi restaurant! Sushi Kashiwa is refined and understated gem. Service was friendly- we ordered chicken karaage, uni toro hand roll, salmon paradise roll, salmon nigiri, and 9 piece nigiri omakase. Chicken karaage was one of the best we've ever had. The sweet potato fries were lightly breaded and had a crispy exterior, while the karaage came in large chunks and was made with tender dark meat. Both were piping hot and tasted delicious when dipped in their spicy mayo! Uni toro hand roll was delicious, the fish was fresh and wasabi complemented the flavor of the temaki beautifully. Salmon paradise roll was to die for, I'm not typically a roll person but the mango they use is super sweet and Kashiwa does not skimp on its fish portions at all! Salmon nigiri is as expected, the 9 piece omakase was also incredibly filling. I savored every piece! Plating and execution at this location is exceptional, you'd never know from the location that this spot is so exemplary!

First time trying this place. We got a to-go of their rolls and ramen. The rolls were flavorful. I wasn't able to see the ambiance inside d/t my order being take out. They packed the ramen & rolls neatly. The food was pretty good, but the ramen can use a little more flavor. Overall, I will retry again as a dine in customer.

Came for lunch on a Saturday and there was no wait. We ordered the salmon sampler, oyster shooter, shinkuku roll, and geisha roll. The rolls would fall apart as we picked them up which made them messy to eat. The salmon sampler had a nice variety of different salmons but the fish didn't taste so fresh. Actually, most of the fish didn't taste fresh - they had a bit of a slightly slimy texture and an off taste. Service is ok but space is a bit small. Wanted to find a new place but I'd rather pay a premium to ensure I was eating better quality fish.

Pros: Arrived for dinner service at Sushi Kashiwa and my husband and I were immediately greeted and seated. The customer service here is great! I enjoyed the variety of options they have and their menu with photos was helpful. The Lion King roll was delicious and I highly recommend it! The Chicken Katsu was crunchy and flavorful. The prices were very reasonable compared to other spots. Cons: My miso soup was lukewarm and the seaweed was tough and hard to chew. I wasn't a fan of the rice they used for the rolls - it was sweet and took away from the overall flavor. The parking can be a challenge too. Overall, I left feeling confused on whether I liked the food or not. Based on other reviews I plan to give this spot a second try. Perhaps it was the time of day I went (right upon opening).

We made a reservation but still had to wait as this place is very small and busy. Parking is limited but the food is to die for! We didn't wait long to get our food. My absolute favorite were the fried string beans and the surprise desert which i believe to be strawberry ice cream! This is my favorite ice cream of all time! Definitely try it! It has a different texture but still so delicious. We must've came on a good day because the desert and the sushi roll was on the house! :) The servers were very friendly and the restaurant seemed a bit trendy. We ordered so much food, but all was finished with no crumbs left behind. I definitely recommend getting the fried string beans to start and the strawberry ice cream to end the night. :)

Placed looked pretty new. First time visiting. I would say it's a 3.9-4.0. Sushi quality was good. We were the only table there so it's not busy. We went on a weekend day. We were two adults and a baby. Service was nice. Inside was clean too. Food came out decently quick. We got a Lunch Bento D, Bento B Salmon and String Beans. Most items were great. I took one star because my chopsticks tasted like soap. Had to wipe it down. Private lot Infront.

Sushi Kashiwa is a cozy sushi spot, but it's got a great vibe. The service is quick and attentive, and they play great, upbeat kpop. We had the veggie tempura and each had a chirashi bowl which is a TON of large, fresh sashimi. There's amaebi and uni which was really nice to have. The slices are so generous that I couldn't finish my bowl. The green tea, red bean, mochi dessert had a nice, chewy mochi that I really enjoyed. They also gave us a complimentary red bean ice cream for dessert. We're definitely coming back here again when we're craving sashimi!

We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

We ordered the following: 1) Deconstructed lumpia - more difficult to eat than the classic lumpia but the flavors were so bomb that it was worth the effort. 2) Patatim - reminiscent of paksiw na pata but with mushrooms. The meat just melts in your mouth! 3) Bistek tagalog - their take on steak and fries, but better. 4) Kaldaretang baka with bleu cheese mash - classic kaldareta flavors on a bed of mash potatoes. We were a little unsure about the bleu cheese part, so our waiter offered that it can come on the side. We tried it with the dish and while it was good and added a tang, bleu cheese is just not for me so I'm glad we got it on the side! The meat was cooked perfectly - still a little pink on the inside so it wasn't chewy or overdone at all. 5) For dessert, we got the buko pandan which my mom absolutely loved. Owner (I think) and ancestor of Inda, Raquel, came out to greet us and ask how everything was. She was so kind and glad we had enjoyed the flavors. She even boxed up our leftover for us! Food gets a solid 5 stars - I would give more if I could! For atmosphere, I give it a 4 as it was a hot day I don't think the place has AC, so it was really warm in there. For service, I also give it a 4 because although our waiter was super friendly, kind, and very helpful, I felt that he could have checked in more. For cost, I feel that everything was priced fairly. It's just a little more expensive than your "regular" Filipino restaurant. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back!

The star of the show was the dish our little one ordered the Fried Chicken Over Fried Rice everything about this dish married well with each other and tasted spectacular. The Massaman Curry with Chicken was ok it wasn't my family's favorite, the Roti and Cucumber Salad that it came with was ok Roti too crispy for me, Cucumber Salad was super small portion I was expecting a bigger portion and the Curry itself was a tad bit too salty for my liking...I find that it would have been nice if it was served over a bed of rice instead of with Roti. We had heard such great things about Hula Hoops and were excited to come for Mother's Day brunch. When we arrived Sunday morning, we were seated right away, which was great. However, our party of six was seated with only three food menus and five drink menus. I asked our waitress if we could get additional menus for the rest of the table, and she explained they had run out and were waiting for other guests to finish with theirs. We ended up asking if there was a QR code version we could scan, and she brought one over. I was mostly confused why the QR code wasn't offered immediately, knowing half the table didn't have menus to begin with. It just made the start of the experience feel a little disorganized. That said, there were definitely some positives. The sparkling cider for Mother's Day brunch was a really nice touch, and the Shanghai lumpia was fantastic. I ordered the two-protein silog breakfast with eggs, and while the flavors were good, the single scoop of rice just didn't feel proportionate to the rest of the plate. Any Filipino knows you need a little more rice to balance everything out, so I ended up not finishing my meal because it felt off portion-wise. My son ordered the cheese omelet and said it wasn't his favorite, especially the potatoes. The ube waffles were really yummy though, and my husband enjoyed the sisig tater tots. Overall, I'm glad we finally got to try Hula Hoops after hearing so many good things, but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to the hype for us, and I don't think we'd return.

Didn't contain some of the ingredients advertised and felt like they were made the night before 3) lemon grass beef rice plate: Wasn't what we expected. We thought we were getting bbq'd lemongrass beef and I think this was cooked and then put in a crockpot or something. The taste was fine, but the look and texture was kind of grey and bland 4) five spice chicken salad: LIKED THIS - really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and the contents of the salad - would def get this again 5) lemon grass beef bun mi - bread and pickled veggies were great, didn't care for the meet Would recommend 2 out of 5 dishes and would return for those dishes. All part of trying new places.

I was in San Bruno today and was craving Korean food. Korean cuisine ranks high on my list due to…read morethe awesome variety of flavors and textures you get with your meal. K. Grill and Tofu House is an excellent, family run establishment that serves up delicious food. The space is very nice and the service is very friendly. I ordered a Dolsot bibimbop because I love food that comes to your table and it's still cooking! I also love that your entree is served with several Banchan (appetizer) dishes. One thing I love about any dining experience is getting a lot of different flavors and textures in one meal. The banchan here had seven different dishes! Of course you get your kimchee, bean sprouts, fish cakes and then some other pickled fruits and veggies. They also gave me what seemed like a roasted sardine? In any case, it was delicious! The Dolsot Bibimbap was a hit! Crispy rice, vegetables, beef and a fried egg on top. Plus, some gochujang sauce to go on it! So yummy! I feel like the prices here are pretty standard for the area, but I do think it's 100% worth the money. Check them out if you're in the area!

Great neighborhood spot. My parents love it here. We usually get the soondobu, pancake, japchae,…read moredol sot and bulgogi (or galbi). The fish cake banchan is so good and we get at least 3 refills. Service is good put parking is annoying in the area because its not free! Wth, San Bruno Ave... Anyways, a solid 4 stars, no frills type of place!
