Was taken to Omakase for my birthday and it was a great and unique experience. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating and they helped me pair the best Japanese whiskey with the sushi on the menu. There were some rolls that didn't hit for me but the whole point is to be experimental but I have no complaints. It was a great experience.

I had SUCH a great time eating here. My boyfriend and I arrived and were seated to a lobby like area. We were served some small appetizers and a sake mix drink while we waited for the chefs to be ready. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary and his birthday here and they made it so special. We had celebratory shoutouts on our name plates which was a special touch. We even got signed menus at the end for a keepsake! The 16 omakase course filled me up but for $$$, I'm glad I got full. I did not have a bad fish! I loved everything that was served. My absolute favorites were the uni, wagyu, unagi, bone marrow, and kanpachi. I can't wait to come here again!!

We came for my husband's birthday since we were in town. Every bite was excellent, prepared with care and explained by chef. Intimate seating up to 10 with name plates. Truly memorable night.

Dinner at Sushi by Scratch in Beverly Hills is a truly enjoyable experience. Went twice in September. The food is great; the small sushi bar setting creates a more intimate environment and lends itself to a fun time; and Chef Victor and the staff are beyond friendly, being both engaging and welcoming. Food: 16-17 course omakase dinner that is "reasonably" priced given the soaring costs of omakase dinners in LA. The sushi was fresh, albeit prepared in a less traditional style. Some might think that the addition of different ingredients such as chilis or use sauces somewhat gimmicky, but I think it made for an interesting and ultimately fun tasting experience. Further, if you arrive early, they offer a pre-dinner cocktail and canapes. Bottom Line: Again, truly enjoyed my dinner at Sushi by Scratch. There are many "traditional" sushi places in LA. For something just a little different, try Sushi by Scratch.

As promised, I had to come try the Beverly Hills location after a wonderful experience in Austin but this time with my bf in tow. Lol. They're located inside the beautiful SLS Hotel. Since this wasn't my first rodeo we made sure to arrive 30 minutes early for the canape service. The flow is pretty much the same: you check in, get seated with your batch mates and they start you off with a drink and a couple of small bites. Then you're brought inside, find your name, and that's your seat for the night. We also decided to do the Japanese whiskey pairing add on. Each pour was thoughtfully matched with the courses. If you're into whiskey it's definitely worth it! I loved my first visit in Austin. Special shoutout to my friends for putting me on so I really wanted my bf to experience it too! The space is small only 10 seats very intimate and dimly lit. Everyone gets a front row view of the sushi chefs in action! The menu is written on a chalkboard behind them so you can follow along as they serve each of the 16 courses. The chefs were engaging and explained each piece without overdoing it. Every bite was fresh, clean and just melts in your mouth. The quality is a consistent 10/10! I really appreciate that they're very accommodating with my dietary needs. It matters so much to me. Big shoutout to Ope for taking care of us. Loved her energy! I was told the Encino location is the OG so that might be our next visit. We had a wonderful time here and would definitely come back!

Such an amazing experience and food by the team. Chef Victor's beautifully executed Omakase with a fusion of Japanese and Mexican cuisine using the best fish flown from Japan. I was amazed by Japanese "tajin" made with Japanese pepper. You will enjoy the complimentary cocktail before the course. It's a small place with probably 8 seats. Great sake selection from all over Japan which you will enjoy.

Blown away by this omakase experience with a speakeasy exclusive feel. It's a 10-seater table and the guests dine together intimately at the chefs table along with two other chefs and a bartender. We were greeted with a friendly face to get comfortable before entering the room. I was so excited to try all the sushi prepared right in front of us. It's a 17-course meal and that was more than enough because I think I made it to #10 before I started removing the sushi rice and just eating the protein lol. Every bite was unique and mouthwatering. I was very impressed with the varying flavors and the sake that paired with each individual sushi! It was overflowing with delicious sake and It got me feeling very warm and fuzzy. I was stuffed to my core and also so happy. Definitely will do this again soon

The Omakase experience at Sushi by Scratch was both elegant and inviting, blending traditional Japanese elements with a modern twist. The culinary offerings were exquisite, each dish meticulously crafted to delight the senses, and the overall experience was elevated by the attentive service. Chef Victor's culinary artistry was truly exceptional, as he meticulously prepared each dish with stunning detail and a beautiful garnish that elevated the dining experience. The entire staff was amazing, including the incredible bartender who crafted unforgettable mocktails and cocktails. This level of dedication makes it easy to give them a well deserved five stars. My personal favorite dish was the Unagi Eel. Victor added Matcha salt onto the Eel which was delicious combination. My niece loved the juicy Wagyu and delicious Sea Bream.Brandon truly made it personal and special for us.

Sushi by Scratch in Beverly Hills was an absolute experience. From start to finish, the sushi was next level -- flavors you honestly won't find anywhere else. Huge shoutout to our chefs, Victor and Kevin. Chef Victor especially made the night memorable for me and the homies David and Rico. Great energy, great conversation, and even better food. Favorite bite of the night was hands down the Black Sea Bream -- unreal. The fluke was also outstanding. Every course felt intentional and perfectly executed. Definitely worth the experience if you're looking for something special. The flavors are unmatched, and the vibe makes it even better. We'll absolutely be back for the "ceviche" for sure (inside joke with Chef Victor).

I was honored to have this incredible dining experience at Sushi by Scratch inside SLS hotel in Beverly Hills with a group of 10 people. We began the evening with a welcome drink and hot towel in a separate 'waiting' area, which was a nice time to mingle with our group and get excited for the evening. Next, we were escorted to the private dining area, which included a sushi-counter-esque set up where our four servers/chefs awaited for our arrival. We had assigned seating, which I haven't had in a dining experience outside of weddings, so I was pleasantly surprised. As we all settled in our seats, we were then introduced to the 17 omakase items that will be enjoyed this evening with an overview of each piece. The food items were also listed on the back wall, which made it easier to follow along. The experience also came with an optional beverage pairing, of either Japanese whiskey, sake, or mixture of Japanese cocktails/sake. I opted for the sake, which honestly, all pretty much tasted the same. If I were to do it differently, I'd opt in for the cocktails/sake combo. Every bite of this delicious meal was like enjoying a piece of art. Not only did it look beautiful, but the flavors of each fish that was enhanced with a touch of another flavor, such as yuzu or wasabi or another topping I couldn't identify, was impeccable. Granted, I've had a lot of sushi in my life that left me mouth-watering for more, and that's how I felt when my 17 courses concluded. The ONLY thing I would ask to do differently is to slow it down a bit... I usually like to savior good food and take it slow, so this experience felt a bit rushed and it was over in just 60mins. I also had to drink the sake relatively quickly to keep up with the pairing, so that wasn't ideal. The server/ chefs were very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I found it a great 'dinner and a show' as we watched them cut the next pieces of fish as we ate our previous pieces. Overall, this was a wonderful, unique experience and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a rather special sushi meal / experience.

$1200 for two people including drinks and truffle/caviar topping is not worth it! Considering the truffle was out of season and had no taste which even the chef agreed it was no good. There were maybe 3 or 4 good bites but the rest are just the normal sushi with better toppings. I've had much better sushi at the fraction of their price.

My sister took me here for omakase for my birthday and it was such a great experience! The service was impeccable right when we arrived- they knew our names, said happy birthday and we got welcome drinks and apps before we entered the bar, which had a speakeasy vibe. Chefs and bartender were very friendly and knowledgeable definitely made the experience. 16 pieces of sushi and dessert at the end. Was more than enough food and would come back for a special occasion! Only annoying thing is parking is covered and need to park valet.

Sushi by Scratch was one of the first high-end Omakase I've ever been to, and we had to drive to Encino to have it. Luckily they opened up a pop-up in Beverly Hills, and I believe they're going to be a more permanent fixture. And although I think the ambiance of of Encino is leagues better than the location in the SLS hotel, the Beverly Hills location did not disappoint in service, quality of food, and and overall great experience. Everything is pretty much set up the same way. There are 3 times with 10 people slots. Get there 30 minutes earlier for A Cocktail and Canapé. They had a yuzu drink last time I loved. The one we had was decent though. The Chawamushi was very good, though I wish there was a bit more of the custard because the flavors of the toppings were so vibrant that it overshadowed what would be a great texture balance Front of house was great, and all the Chefs were awesome. Great skill in cutting, great presentation, and great overall rapport with the guests. The drink specialist was great at his job as well. They definitely chose right when hiring these guys. Overall, its an experience anyone/everyone who loves sushi should enjoy. If you've never had Omakase , this is a great way to jump on board and pop that cherry. Parking is $20 with validation. Valet only.

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.
