This is the second time I've hired Sure Combustion. Let me say right off the bat that Eric is someone that can be trusted, is a good communicator, and is also very professional. I had a prestige Triangle Tube instant heat and hot water unit installed in 2013 after my house was flooded by superstorm Sandy. The person who did the initial instal did a "temporary" one with a less than desirable manifold and never came back. A few years later my house was lifted through a city program and the people that hooked up the heater again after the lift had no idea what they were doing. Consequently I found Eric who is certified with Triangle Tube and in 2020 one of his techs redid the manifold (amazing job) and also installed a heater in our new garage. Eric thought I could potentially get a few more years out of the unit, and I did. Then the unit started failing; it wouldn't ignite, ran hot and too often. I contacted Eric and we discussed different options. He also sent over some estimates. I contacted another heat tech that a friend suggested and he looked at the unit. He said he could potentially rebuild and fix it but without any guarantee that it would last or even work. His quote to replace the unit with another brand of his preference was quite a bit higher than Eric's. As a quick side note to Eric's character, my husband and I were out of town when the unit started failing and Eric was willing to FaceTime with our friend to show him how to keep it running until we got back. This is 3 years after he redid the manifold. In the end we hired Eric to swap out the old unit with a newer version. The instal itself had a few road bumps; water in the garage from a cut line probably from when the house was lifted, some clumsy mishaps not anticipating how heavy and how high up the unit is in the home, and not realizing the vents would not come close to lining up until the new unit was installed. However, finding out about the cut line at that time ended up being to our advantage as the techs were able to reroute that line so it wouldn't happen in the future, and Eric and his techs were able to find a workable solution for the vents. In the end, the new unit is working phenomenally. We feel very confident as well that if we need anything Eric will be there to help us. read more

Hi Everyone. Bear with me on this review. I rarely leave reviews and even more rare for positive experiences with contractors. I have been talking to Eric from Sure Combustion Heating now for about a month and a half-ish in getting a proposal, executing the work, fixing any problems that come after or during. The ask: tear down and replace 2 condensing boilers with non-condensing boilers for a 2 family house. Which will have to pass NYC inspection. The systems will be boilers and holding tanks that would basically work like a combi unit and have endless hot water if needed (boilers that were being replaced). The Install: first, Eric gave me a 12 page detailed proposal. The sign of a good contractor. He spelled out everything he would need down to how many elbows pieces and every step he would be responsible for, not just a 1 liner "proposal". After that, I needed to have some pre-work done in terms of re-lining the chimney and starting the filings and work permits with NYC. Eric did explain all this and that if I needed he does partner with a few other contractors that can take care of everything. The work itself took the normal amount of time as expected. About a weeks worth of work over a 3 week period. I did have to leave for 2 week vacation while Eric and team needed to address a few leaks. But they picked up after I got back and gave them a call. At the end of the work, Eric and team did put in extra hours on weekends to finish the job on time as discussed and to fix any leaks or other problems that came up after everything with put together. Eric work for 6 hours on mothers day Sunday to replace a manifold that was faulty and a few other items like trying to figure out why my thermostat was calling for heat when it was off. I had to leave on vacation right after he finished the work on mothers day. So will updated this once I get back. The final product: Still have to go through inspection and any final touchups. Our boiler finally died and we contacted Eric @ Sure Combustion as he had done two of our neighbors' with high praise. During the summer so we didn't need heat, but hot water! This was during the Corona Pandemic and he arrived the day after our call to assess. After his first visit we didn't feel the need for another estimate. He inspires confidence, has a professional demeanor and seemed to 'get' our situation. His crew is also very professional. He estimated 5 days to finish which we thought excessive, but he got our hot water on after a couple of days and overall, the amount of work it took to install, plumb, test & finish was extraordinary! He talked us through choosing new thermostats, co2 sensor and the various things we needed to bring to code. The machine is wonderful, quiet and very powerful, we are "Sure" the heat will be as perfect as the hot water. I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

I have a Triangular Tube boiler that is very hard to find good service for. I was desperate as our boiler stopped working in December in the middle of the holiday season, when I had my whole family visiting from Europe and staying with us in the house. I found Sure Combustion Heating via the Triangular Tube manufacturer's website as an approved professional for servicing the boiler. Eric came out immediately to assess the situation and gave us a quote for the work within hours. He was very professional and quick to address the problem that other plumbers I contacted before failed to fix. He sent us a full quote so that all the costs were visible at the outset without further negotiations, which was very refreshing. We had a tremendous experience with Sure Combustion. Over the years, we had a umber of heating/cooling vendors work on our home HVAC issues with mixed success. It turned out that our old boiler -- although relatively recently installed -- was nonetheless incorrectly installed and we went through two tank-less hot water heaters in 10 years. We were finally offered a lot of money by one vendor to fix just the tank-less. We got Sure Combustion to come in and replace not only the broken tank-less but the boiler as well for under the price of the other vendor for their "solution" to the tank-less problem. They were very professional and did everything they said they would do. The owner of the company actually teaches courses on how to do this work. So, clearly someone with a passion about the work. We used Eric from Sure Combustion to assess two combination boilers in our 3 Family home in Clinton Hill Brooklyn. The original installation of our two Baxi's had all kinds of problems. Eric patiently explained the situation to my wife Gerri and me. Having to replace a less than 5 year old boiler is never an easy pill to swallow, but Eric explained in a detailed way that this was not only our best option, but really our only option. He recommended a Utica boiler that we have been very happy with since its installation in 2020. He had to rework a bunch of the shoddy plumbing and in doing so, he also reworked and checked our other Baxi, which we did not have to replace.
