I had made a decision never to return to Empire after going there with my wife who wanted a certain…read morelook for me and want dto talk to the barber. His chair was closest to Laurel Ave. He literally PUSHED my wife out of the way as he cut my hair at a ragingly rapid pace and paid no attention to my wife's request. Totally did what HE wanted not what WE wanted. Then today on a whim I stopped back and had Tom cut my hair. He was a younger man in his late 20's. I told his specifically what I wanted and he went to work. He took his time and did a great job. and got rave reviews from myself and my wife who is trying to let my hair grow out to a certain style. He took his time and even shaved the back of my neck which no one there had ever done. I tipped him heavily because he did a great job and was responsive to our needs for how I wanted my hair cut. If Empire keeps him I will be returning. He works on Wednesdays. He is friendly and engaging while he cuts and maybe it takes him a bit longer than the others who do what THEY want. If all the barbers there worked like Tom did, I would rate the place 5 stars. He single handedly redeemed Empire for me and if he stays there I will be a repeat customer. Thank you Tom for restoring my faith in competent hair cutters, not older guys who rush the job to get you outage door.

I…read morecame in asking for a mid fade with a crispy line-up, and Raul took his time studying my hair and face shape before even touching the clippers. The fade is one of the best I've ever gotten--smooth transition, no lines, and the lineup was surgical. But what I appreciated the most was that he never rushed. He checked the symmetry from every angle and kept asking how I was feeling throughout the process. The hot towel at the end was the cherry on top. I walked out feeling renewed and super confident. Raul, you're a beast! I'll be back for sure and already recommended you to my crew."

My boyfriend walks in (no customers anywhere) and he is guided into a chair by one employee (seemingly the only one?) and my boyfriend shows him a picture of what he wants. My boyfriend actually had to tell him that his hair is long and looks nothing like that picture and the employee told him there's nothing he would do and he should go somewhere else. Where else does this happen in a business with no customers?! How is this allowed? And how does this place stay in business? The treatment we were shown was absolutely disgusting. Update: Just found out it wasn't an employee but the owner! He responded to my review on Google by calling me "stupid" and lying about what happened.
