Sorry, not a good experience either. In fact, I joined Yelp just to write this review, and I normally don't go out of my way to do things like this. Supershuttle employees: take note. I was in the Upper West Side, needing to get to LaGuardia airport by 5am for a brutal early-morning flight. I ended up booking a shuttle for 3am, thinking that I'd have plenty of time to get to the airport. The pick-up window was 3:00-3:20am, so I waited outside in the freezing cold for half an hour, without the shuttle showing up. No late call or anything. I ended up flagging a cab and going to the airport that way, forfeiting the $19 supershuttle cost. The worst part: I was now already at the airport standing in line at 4:30am waiting for the airport ticket counter to open, and the driver calls me. Brutal. If I had somehow waited to be picked up at that time, I would have missed my flight. read more

This is the worst airport shuttle I have ever taken, and I would never recommend them to anyone. After arriving at the airport at 11:30pm, with a pre-booked shuttle, I called, and was told it would be an hour wait. I checked other options, but decided to stick with super shuttle, and phoned back. Over the next FIFTY minutes, I was on hold over FORTY minutes in total and transferred five different times. Completely unimpressed I was told the shuttle would arrive TWO full hours after my plane landed, and would be shared with six other passengers. Absolutely ridiculous 'customer service', a waste of time, and an entirely frustrating experience. I will never book a shuttle with them again. Edited Note: My frustration with SuperShuttle was not that there were other passengers to be picked up, but that it took 2 hours for the shuttle to arrive. I got to my hotel 3 hours and 15 minutes after my plane had landed, which is completely unacceptable. Had the person I spoke to at 11:45pm informed me that I would arrive at my hotel at 2:45am I would have immediately cancelled and called a cab (or another shuttle company). But it was the fact that they kept transferring me and then telling me the shuttle would arrive at later and later times. In the end there were three people on the shuttle to Manhattan, and one lady said she had been waiting at the airport for almost 4 hours. And to top the night off, myself and another passenger had to endure a yelling/swearing match between one lady and the driver did not help the mood!! After the terrible shuttle experience, I did receive a response to the complained I made that night, and a refund, however the good customer service after the fact does not excuse a completely terrible experience there. read more

My flight arrived JFK around 7.30am, and I wend to check in with SuperShuttle at about 8am. The reception told me the wait time is about 20 mins. The real time for the bus to arrive is almost 9.45am. That's fine, as long as I get on the bus, I hope it can bring me to lower east side very soon... unfortunately, that's not in real life! The bus was driving around the airport area with four other passengers, I don't think the drivers knows where he went. He was checking the cell phone about all the reservation and couldn't make his mind about who goes first. Then I heard the complain from other passengers that it has took so long, and they were still in the airport area. They have been on the bus since 8am. And the drive even drive back to the first place to pick up another passenger, which is 2 hours later after he picked the first passenger... We all very tired and I have no energy to complain with the drive. Finally, he drove us to Manhattan. A part from the traffic, it took us almost three hours to get in the uptown. Some passengers were so angry and they got off the bus and took a taxi instead while we were near SOHO area. The whole trip, the driver was not really nice and he doesn't speak English that clearly. It almost like he was talking to himself. And he didn't feel sorry about all the confusion and time wasted. He just told everybody to claim down and relax. Really, I paid everything online before I got JFK and paid the tips for 18%. If I knew my New York morning would be like this, I will not give any tips at all. I canceled my return trip with SuperShuttle after I got to my place. And my landlord told me that it would be faster to take the subway than SuperShuttle! So if you plan a trip to NYC soon, don't ever chose SuperShuttle. Subway might be a better choice! read more

E-confirmation said van would be waiting upon my arrival at Newark. I arrived. No Van! Called the number. Got a rude person who out me on hold for ten min. Then another person answered and put me on hold. Finally I was told the van would not arrive for another THREE hours. I requested a refund which will take 1-5 biz days to clear. All I can say is if you like getting a run around, taking more time to travel 18 miles than 1,000 by plane then definitely Avoid them like the plague. Spend an extra $20 and take a cab and arrive in 20min instead of four hours. read more

More airport travel woes... Despite the other poor reviews, I decided to try SuperShuttle to save a few bucks--bad and stressful idea. Despite the large buffer of time recommended by SuperShuttle, my girlfriend and I barely made our flight, thanks to it being delayed and there being no wait in security. Being the first pickup, starting by Columbus Circle, we worked our way down to the East Village (for what I think is an overall longer route) to pick up people taking about 1:15 hours to just start to get out of Manhattan. The driver was nice and friendly but felt no urgency to get us to the airport while he gathered additional pickups (we even waited while one of the passengers went to Duane Reade for something for 10 minutes). We were thankfully the first drop off where we paid for curbside checkin to speed us into security. Unless you know you are the last stop (I think we logically should've been) and are traveling solo (the small savings, maybe twenty bucks, are not worth almost missing your flight), take a cab or the subway. read more

Used Supershuttle's shared ride service between Newark Liberty Airport and hotel in Manhattan. Reservations were very easy to do online. SuperShuttle sent confirmation and kept me updated of the driver location for pick up to the airport. Price was very reasonable ($20 each way). Drivers were polite. Vans were clean and comfortable. Docked one star for the long wait at Newark for ride to hotel but everything else was great. read more

Worst experience ever. Driver was an hour late and it took me being 20 minutes on my hold on my cell phone for anyone to indicate to me he would be picking me up from the airport at all (no one at the desk would tell me). I missed a long-awaited dinner with friends while slumped on my luggage at the airport and then listened to bad 80's music as my fellow passengers and I mysteriously waited for the driver to return to our van once we eventually boarded. We did leave the airport about two hours after my arrival, but, by then, my night of fun was ruined. Never again. read more

No issue on SS this trip. Driver was on-time. Efficiently delivered passengers to LaGuardia based on stops. Seemed to know the city but I would think they could route their stops better or provide more detailed information about the vehicle and intended route so I could spend a less time touring the city. I'm done with being green. Took this twice: once from Newark, once from JFK to W. 106th St. The Newark trip was a nightmare. 3 hours. Driver kept going up and down Manhattan with no discernible plan for dropping off passengers. 2nd trip from JFK took 2 hours--much of it waiting at the front end to round up passengers at various terminals. Splurge an extra $20 and take a taxi. That's what I'll do from now on. read more

I have taken SS at LAX and had no problem but have been waiting at La Guardia for over an hour even though I pre-booked and checked in as soon as I landed. If I hadn't already paid for the service, I would have taken a cab a long time ago. Never again!!!! read more

After reading the reviews here I was skeptical that I was going to have a good experience, but it was fine! I booked SuperShuttle from JFK to the Upper West Side in order to save money on a cab. Nice way to save $45 in my opinion. I was able to get in a van after checking in after only 10 minutes or so, and they were very accommodating even though I was an hour late for my reservation (thanks to my flight). We did drive around to different terminals for like 15 minutes or so picking up like 5 others. The driver was friendly and the drive was fine. He did drop us off the order of downtown to uptown, so I was last to be dropped off (in Morningside Heights, Manhattan). It was, all in all, like 90 mins on an evening in September, so the traffic was light-ish, I guess. BUT it's not like a cab would have been that much faster; I took a cab to JFK and it took around an hour. So if you're pressed for time, SuperShuttle is probably not for you. :) ALSO: I was very happy with the customer service and the promptness of all the employees. That night, I left my backpack in the van when I got dropped off, and like a half an hour later I was able to call the number listed on my reservation ticket. Even though that number was to a general customer service center AND it was now after 9:00 pm, they were able to reach the driver and let him know. Only like 15 mins after calling them did they call me back to let me know that the driver was parked outside of my building - he actually doubled back and waited for me outside to return my backpack, safe and sound! I was surprised and very pleased with the timeliness and efficiency of their whole structure. Overall, I would recommend SuperShuttle, but perhaps only on the way home FROM the airport as I wouldn't want to be delayed and miss a flight or anything. :) read more

I had to go to NYC for a short trip. It was my first trip and I had reservations at a hotel in Manhattan. Research feedback told me that a traditional cab ride might run well into $45+ based on my planned destination from the airport. I arranged for a round-trip SuperShuttle ride to and from the airport on my arrival day and my departure day. I pre-paid online. It was a reasonable flat rate for each trip (less than $20 each way). You only had to give a tip to the driver (hopefully you believe in tips.) On my arrival day, my plane was late, so I missed my original pickup time- however, at LaGuardia their Visitors' Ground Transport Assistance desk were helpful. I showed them my purchase receipt and they contacted the SuperShuttle service, and a driver was dispatched to the arrivals zone in a reasonable time. The shuttle (a van) was reasonably clean and had 3 other clients. The overall trip was about 30 minutes, I was dropped off in front of my hotel without any problems. On my return day, I got an automated phone call shortly before my pre-arranged pickup time. The driver was maybe 5 minutes late-- I was given a 10-minute window of pickup, and so I called the customer service line, but I never got a person on the other end before the driver showed up. I was picked up and taken back to the airport. It took about 40 minutes weaving through Manhattan, then Queens to get to LaGuardia. There were 3 people (two pre-arranged) who were picked up along the way, including an impromptu fare. I was very early for my plane trip, so the time spent was not an issue. I got to have an informal tour of Manhattan in the process. Side note: New York City drivers tend to be aggressive, and bicycle riders are incorporated into vehicle traffic. Also, the service apparently accepts cash and credit cards. There is a slight discount to round-trips and pre-paid trips arranged through the website, though you can arrange a call by phone. I would advise anyone to KEEP COPIES of all pre-paid bookings and have them with you when the driver arrives. On my return trip, one of the co-passengers was a gentleman of Swedish origin (based on his voice) who claimed to have pre-paid for the trip to LaGuardia. The man did not have a paper receipt with him, and the driver could not confirm a pre-paid return trip with his dispatcher. I was the first to be dropped off; I don't know how this was resolved. In short, this was a worthwhile service to have for a neophyte visitor to New York City. I don't know about the worthiness for someone with a more elaborate itinerary, but for someone who is very budget minded, it is definitely worth looking into. read more

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY in NYC!!!!! 2 of my friends schedule a pick up at 4:10 pm for a flight from JFK at 9:45 pm (because the company has a bus every hour and 5:10 was too late for the rush hour). 15 MIN LATE: We called to check why the driver didn't come yet. They said he's 5 min away. 30 MIN LATE: We called again, they said again he's 5 min away. HOUR LATE!!!: We called again. Of course "he's on the way". Now it was "7 min from you". I talled them we're going to wait for more 5 min and if the driver isn't here my friends will take a texi and we will ask for refund. Of course the driver didn't come. But this wasn't the end.... THEY DIDN'T AGREE TO REFUND THE MONEY!!! Only after the representative of the hotel talked to them they agreed to refund the money (we waited ONE HOUR AND 30 MIN!!! and still the driver didn't come). read more

I called and messaged both dispatch and the driver and they still couldn't find us. We were on the corner 6th and 37th. Not exactly a hard address. He made the others in the van late for their flights because he he couldn't figure out gps. We were using our phones to help him. This shuttle from the airport is the worst. Forget giving them your flight information, just call them when you get there. After waiting a damn hour for the shuttle, had to go to another terminal and wait for them to pick up someone whose plane had just landed!!@ WTF....That's another hour, then the drive and drop off process time, another hour. I traveled to Mexico last week and decided to book a round trip Super Shuttle from the Cancun to my resort. It was a very bad decision. The young lady advised that if I booked a round trip she would give me a great discount, around 40% off and a private taxi with no wait. So, being that I am not familiar with the area I agreed. After taking all my information we paid. (almost $62) I didn't noticed that even after she took down my return time and date she didn't enter the correct in the system and I had to call Supper Shuttle and reschedule my return trip. At the day if check out I missed my return taxi due to issues at check out. I was scheduled for 10am I was there at 9:57 with my spouse but because we were missed informed of the check out location I had to check out at another location. Long story short, I left my spouse to wait for the taxi that showed up at 10:05. I arrived at 10:22 and saw the taxi leave, I was only 10 feet away bit because my spouse didn't speak english he rudely waved and left. After I had the front desk call Super shuttle, the said the driver is only required to stay 15 mins passed scheduled time and could not turn back around. I ended getting a cab off the street that charged me $35 ONE WAY( inc. $5 tip)!!!!! They charger me $98.40 round trip!!!!!!!!!keep in mind the 15 min wait time was not stated on the receipt nor when I booked at the airport! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OVER PRICED! read more

We thought we would try an alternative to an expensive taxi...I guess this was a situation where you get what you pay for. Took over two hours to get from LGA to our hotel in Chelsea. Our driver was less than courteous. We asked multiple times for the air or something to be turned on because it was hot as hell and the windows didn't open. He pretended not to hear us. Had a bad experience going from JFK to Midtown Manhattan on a weekday evening with the traffic. The van was full and the driver was weaving in and out of traffic like crazy. Did not help after a long flight. Took about 2 hrs to reach from the airport to the hotel. We tried to save money and ended up wasting money and time.The 2 stars is for the return trip from hotel to LGA which was much more pleasant and the driver was good at the wheel. It took us about 30 minutes to get there. If you are packed light, its better to take the subway and if your office sponsored your trip take a cab. read more

I have used SuperShuttle in many other cities like Austin and Washington, D.C., and have never had anything less than a wonderful, inexpensive and professional journey. However, if I could give 0 stars to NY SuperShuttle, I would! PLEASE DO NOT ever use this service. Even if you have a coupon, it is too unreliable and uncomfortable to be worth the savings. PROBLEMS: - Waited almost 3 hours for a shuttle pick up at Newark. - Confirmation email says "you can call SuperShuttle directly by dialing 29 from the courtesy phones". THEY DO NOT PICK UP. After trying multiple times, an airport Ground Transportation Agents came back from her break and helped, but again no one answered. She called from a different line behind the Welcome Desk, and the call was finally picked up. The process to just get in touch with SuperShuttle and tell them I had arrived: 1 hour. - SuperShuttle said I would be picked up in 30 min (after the phone call). ONE HOUR LATER, an airport agent called on my behalf for an update, and the driver said he was 10 minutes away. The process was repeated 30 min later, and then 30 min after that. The driver was "10 min away" for almost 1.5 HOURS. - When the driver finally arrived, he never spoke to me or even acknowledged my presence (and did not offer to assist with luggage) read more

If you have nothing else to do for a bunch of hours, take super shuttle. Wow, it was so slow and tons of stops. They said it takes 3 hours to get to laguardia from midtown. Crazy. Absolutely terrible and a huge waste of time. Walking would be cheaper and probably save you time. I'm sure enough people in Manhattan are desperate and they'll probably survive but geez I hope they fix the broken model. read more

Had to delay my van due to AA sending my bag on another flight, which SuperShuttle said they would not be a problem. 90 minutes later, I was still stuck at the airport. They kept swinging around and never picked me up. They told me they had picked up someone with the same name by accident (sure you did). In the end, it took me 2.5 hours to get into Manhattan and two-thirds of that was waiting for one of these vans to pick me up. This will be the final time I use their service. read more

What a horrible service to use in NYC. The first time I used Supershuttle they picked me up from my apartment an hour late. The second time I used them, they picked me up from the airport 2 hours late. The third time I used them the driver decided he didn't want to pick me up and just left me at the airport, causing me to wait an hour an a half for a ride. Supershuttle, I know your company means well and in other cities it is much more reliable, but the drivers that take on your name in NYC really lower your company's standards. This goes to show you in a franchised company, higher standards need to be tested prior to hiring someone to carry on your name. read more

Took one to the hotel from the airport, then four days later another one from the hotel to the airport. No problems. Great, friendly drivers, large vans as clean as they can be, and most importantly safe drivers. We had no service issues at all. Super quick pick up at the airport and even a little early for the pick up at the hotel. Made it safely to both destinations which is huge in New York City! Dirty cars unreliable and non specific for a pickup point. Don't know how to calculate airport times. Drivers drive with cellphones in hand and with excessive speed. Only reason I give a two is for the helpful dispatch service you deal with. read more

Yesterday, Friday, I used Super Shuttle from LaGuardia to Manhattan. Great text service! But slow to leave the airport! I checked in at 1:27 pm and was told it would be a 30 min. wait. It was a 40 min. wait. Then we picked up another person at another door, so it ended up being an hour from the time I checked in until we left the airport. At the bridge toll booth, we waited in a long cash line; 3 cars cut in line a ways ahead of us which slowed us down even more! SuperShuttle needs EZPass which would allow the Shuttle to skip the toll line and get us tired travelers to our destination faster! The driver was fine! I've used SuperShuttle in Baltimore where I only had a 15 min. wait until we left. And at LAX I only had a 10 min. wait. I will use it again at LaGuardia if the wait times get shorter leaving the airport and if you use EZPass for the toll! read more

I used Super Shuttle a few years back.. but it was an experience that I will never forget so I thought I should share it. I got picked up from JFK.. and got in the packed van full of passengers. The driver then drove to Queens, which we all thought was somebody's drop-off location. We were all really confused when he parked the car, got out and was gone for about 15- 20 minutes. He came back with a slice of pizza and a lady friend who sat in the front seat (this was a completely residential area). He then drove back to the airport to pick somebody else up.. He drove like a maniac and got really pissed off when other passengers asked him where he was going and started to yell and cuss people out. All the other passengers in the van (minus the lady friend in the front seat) whispered to each other confused and scared. I finally got to my location in Manhattan (hours later, of course) and the driver then asked me for payment. When I told him I prepaid and showed him the confirmation, he didn't believe me.. He wouldn't let me leave until I paid again.. then cussed me out when I didn't leave a tip. This was the short version of what happened, but it covers the main events. One of the most unsettling rides of my life. Like most other reviewers, never again. 8/15/12 edit - Just wanted to update my review to note that a customer service representative reached out to me after I left my review. While she couldn't help me out directly, she did encourage me to contact their national customer care team. I'm writing this only with the experience of going to the airport. The van came relatively on time (5 minutes after the time window given). The time spent in the van depends on when you are picked up. I personally spent about 40 minutes. Some people spent an hour some spent only 20 minutes. Basically, you get what you pay for. It's super cheap but do not expect a first class ride. read more
