Inside of asada burrito
Jessica S.

Came here recently with my husband and 4 friends after it was recommended by a couple of them who come here more often. It was my first time, and while the food was excellent (5/5), the experience left a bad taste for other reasons. I ordered the Asada Burrito Dinner ($13). It was smaller than I expected, but it ended up being both flavorful and satisfying. The meat was well-seasoned, and all the fillings came together nicely. I chose rice as my only side since I'm not a fan of beans at Mexican restaurants, and luckily, the rice was tasty. The restaurant also offers a variety of hot sauces with your meal; my favorite was the creamy spicy verde. My husband ordered the Tampiqueña ($25), which is their steak entrée. It came with a birria taco, plus rice, beans, and some grilled vegetables on the side. He really enjoyed this, and it was filling for him, as well. The problem with this place was the shady billing practices. The front of the menu apparently states that an 18% gratuity is added for parties of 4 or more, which seems odd because 4 people are not a lot. Fair enough, I guess, to have this as a restaurant practice, but that wasn't made clear at checkout and wasn't posted anywhere else, so it's easy to miss. Since you pay on an iPad at the front of the restaurant and aren't given an itemized receipt before paying, we assumed no tip had been added. So we did what we usually do and added 20% on the screen, but turns out we unknowingly tipped 38% in total. The staff member who checked us out also happened to be our waitress, and she said nothing about the tip being included already. The restaurant can gloat about inexpensive food all they want, but when customers end up paying $55+ for a bill that would have been $38 for just the food itself, it's deceptive. Nobody likes a lack of transparency, and we would've gladly tipped well, but not under misleading circumstances. Ultimately, they lost customers for life because we will never be back. If you go with a larger group, just be aware and ask for the itemized bill BEFORE paying, because they definitely know what they are doing and most likely set up their routines this way to trick customers into tipping more. Make sure to ask questions and not be ignorant to shady business practices like we did here.

This place fell short. Nice looking inside, lots of seating . Has a full bar and band area. Maybe because it was a Monday I ordered the chicken soup - taste was not bad but it did feel tough like it was under cooked The veggies were hard. Pambazo was good but very oily. We did get Guacamole as an appetizer but it was a little salty - we still ate it Service was great. Quick and polite. Sever came around to check on us. Cleared plates in a timely manner. We didn't feel rushed. This place looks like fun so I will try again during a weekend.

Stopped in here for a quick bite while traveling for work. Really spacious restaurant with a large menu and lots of frozen margaritas and alcoholic drinks. I had an Al pastor burrito because unfortunately I came on a day where they don't make their birria. The taco was done perfectly, even toasted on the outside like I like. They provide plenty of salsa in squeeze bottles to eat with your food. So they don't skimp out on anything. This is a solid Mexican joint.

I've been here so many times but today the staff was rude and unprofessional- I went to get birria taco dinner, and a taco on the side waited inside while staff for over 30min,while the cook was flirting with staff and conveniently forgot my taco when we went back in they were rude and made us wait for the other taco that we already ordered and was a part of our original order I've never done a review on anyone or anything but while opening the birria taco dinner they conveniently forgot to close the lid and never provided a receipt-will not be going back as this was just really unpleasant

Not much to say about this place other than they do good solid food. They are a particular go to option for me because they serve Carnitas tacos and sopes. I love the Carnitas as it has a great flavor and just enough fat to make it lovely. Can't speak to the other meats as the Carnitas is the only one I order. I will say that their guacamole is one of the few that I have eaten where I don't have to add any salt or Tajin to it to spice it up. I would say stay away from the salsa, both colors, as they are hot as hell. Granted, I don't eat hot food and my GF says that ketchup is too spicy for me, but that crap is hot as hell. Chips that come with the guac are standard, not homemade, but good for picking up the guac. They do make their own sopes as I have seen a woman pressing the dough into the shape before slapping it on the grill. They just recently opened a bar but not sure what they are serving beyond beer. Will have to check it out and report back in. As I order mostly take out, the staff working the counter is nice and speaks English. There are one or two waitresses who are more comfortable with Spanish, but between pointing and Spanlish, we do all right. The times I have gone in to dine in the restaurant, the service has been ok. Super Tacos Morelos is definitely no frills as the utensils are plastic and the cups are styrofoam. But they will bring you a real knife and fork if you ask. The food isn't on par with a Michelin restaurant, but if you are looking for good tacos at a decent size, then this is the place. T

Tacos 'al pastor' (onions, cilantro, chopped pineapple) with refried beans & rice

LO SIENTO ....but not really. As one of the newest and closest restaurants (distance-wise) to where I work, it was only a matter of time before I came in here for lunch. But now that I know what I know, I've zero need to return. I stopped in on a $1 taco Wednesday, which applied only for 'al pastor' (pork) tacos. This place is still relatively new and it looks that way on the inside. Amidst a few TV's, an elevated ceiling, and a somewhat open kitchen, I sat myself because no one else took the initiative to do so. Completely ignored for the first 15 minutes, eventually a server made eye contact with me and took my order. Although it pains me to say this......I think part of the reason for my lack of prompt service was due to the fact that I'm what you might consider "el gringo mucho". There's a ton of Mexican eateries in and around Melrose Park, many of which are owned/operated by native Spanish speakers, most of which are frequented by locals. It's seldom an issue, but when you're literally the only customer NOT speaking Spanish with the staff, it definitely isolates you from the crowd. This is exactly how I've felt the two times I've been in here, once with Bryan R and again by my lonesome. The nail in the coffin was when a Latino gentlemen walked in, was greeted immediately, and served within seconds. Yet there I was, pale as a ghost wearing white bedsheets, twiddling my ivory thumbs for a quarter hour until they even acknowledged my presence. Following that ultra rocky start, I noticed that the pop machine was 'no funciona' and when I asked for the chile rellenos, the kitchen couldn't provide. My server gave no indication as to why not (possibly out of stock, I'll never know). That's strikes 'tres' and 'cuatro' for those of you counting at home. My pork tacos were indeed $1 each and actually decent quality. They came with onions, cilantro, and chopped pineapple. I also ordered beans & rice with them, kinda stingy portions though. Chips and salsa are complimentary, but you have to request them. The salsa that comes with the chips is CRAZY spicy, and that's coming from a self proclaimed pepperhead. There did not appear to be any options for 'mild' or 'medium', only 'hot' and 'extra hot'. While normally I'd be okay with that, after a short time I was struggling to keep my sh*t together as my insides began to percolate. I can't see how the average person could handle these. Bread = 3 Circuses = 1 All of the kitchenware was cheap: syrofoam cups, discardable utensils, hard plastic plates. I get that these are all cost-cutting measures, but there are plenty of similar businesses in the area that don't use such low budget serving items. Seeing a single, lonely plastic spoon stuck very unceremoniously in my refried beans pretty much sealed my opinion of this place. Given all these factors, not to mention that Alejandra's - one of the BEST Mexican spots in the greater metro area - is located literally two minutes west of Super Tacos Morelos, there is absolutely no reason for me to come back to or recommend this substandard place.
