These guys have some pretty good deals that can sometimes even beat the other gaming giants like JB hifi and EB games. They have a fair number of games for sale as well as some other game related products like figurines and other collectible stuff like that; you know, nerdy stuff that you don't need but want anyway. This store used to be located in a really hard to find part of that ridiculously designed Metro building (seriously it's so stupid with its escalators that miss out entire floors!), but thankfully they are now located on Chancery Lane) . They also have plenty of Anime DVD's and other related products. Check out their website as they often have a few good specials on there.

So imagine my delight on discovering this little store on Hurstmere Road! It has a life-size dalek in the doorway - nuff said. I don't know whether it yells out "EXTERMINATE!!", but there is a bit of paper attached to it with a link to a website where you too can build your own. I think I will. Anyway, dalek obsession aside, this place has everything collectible your inner nerd could possibly want - it's a bit pricey, but hey it's collectible. Awesome awesome awesome!

The "significant other of a nerd" may sound like a contradiction but this is the 21st Century. BBC sci-fi like Dr Who, TV series remakes like BSG and books turned into series, like Game of Thrones, are all becoming that little bit more mainstream than they used to be. That means posters, novelty toys, die-cast figures, fan fiction, knickknacks and thingamajigs and flummery- most of these can be found here. Staff also stay up to date with events like Armageddon Expo and gaming events in the Auckland Area. A great place for gifts- or a least that's what you can tell your self when you're in there. (They have a life-sized Dalek in-store).

"Comic Book Store" may be the best description for this shop, and they excel in stocking up-to-date comic books, from shiny, plastic-wrapped comics to ambiguous manga characters. The skillful staff will be happy to help you out. They also stock a great range of games- board games, card games, dice games. Purchasing a good board game is like an investment for a really memorable summer, especially if drinks are involved. One of the better places, other than a pub, where a guy can spend his allowance in Auckland.

The ceiling is covered in wind chimes of all different shapes, sizes and prices! I was delighted and still have the one I bought that day. Aside from that, it lives up to its magical middle earth name by having the greatest array of fantasy objects you can imagine.
