I love me a Dollar General but admit this one is not one of my favorites…read more It's congested, messy, short staffed with long lines, and hard to exit when turning left. It has the feeling of a corner store in NYC with its high shelving piled high and tight isles. On a positive note Manheim doesn't have alot of shopping options so it's a blessing to this small town. It's also conveniently located on RT 72. If you can't find it here there's a Budget Grocery Outlet a few blocks south. For additional savings....... For a small-town store, I would rather shop here anytime over Giant. It's a slower pace and the atmosphere is much more pleasant and much less hectic/stressful. Also, I have my Rx's at the pharmacy and I will say it's one of the best Pharmacies around and the staff there are so nice! I've shopped at this store for over 40 years and have not had very many issues over that time. The only drawback is the turnover of management staff. Once a good manager gets hired in this location, they get shipped out to another location which is frustrating.

This time I was looking for cod fish and lemon flavored gelatin. Nope! Had to walk out again. The time before this I needed kefir and they had none. Time before that I was going to buy fresh produce but it didn't look too fresh and the prices were too high for the quality. I didn't check this trip if they had Meyer's 40 calorie bread but I'm sure they didn't. It's just not worth the time or money to shop here when you can go elsewhere and find availability of many options and lower prices, even if it's a bit further.

Personally, I don't mind the neighborhood and have never had any issues here. I have always felt safe and secure. The store itself is fairly small but pretty clean. They tend to get some interesting buys in there at some insanely good prices. The quantities can be limited but if you get their special buys, you can save a ton of money off of regular grocery store or even Sam's Club prices. I find that their perishables are of decent quality, especially the produce. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful in finding stuff as well. One big caveat, bring your own grocery bags or be prepared to buy theirs.

Even though the shop is small, they have an excellent selection of books, as well as some gift items. They also have a very tiny used book section. I was excited to discover a book on the shelves that I'd been unable to find in other used bookstores. This location is a great addition to downtown - definitely stop in when you're in the neighborhood!

I have never seen so much decor that I personally would put in my place. The prices aren't bad, could be better but they don't tax a lot. I have had a good experience in terms of service and staff every time I've gone. My only gripes are with the website and the exterior. The website can be very buggy at times, with it sometimes crashing and not properly filtering/sorting the way you want. The exterior layout of the parking lot isn't terrible, but the location can be insanity with traffic depending on what time you go. If you don't mind being in possibly some of the worst traffic in York county, it's worth it.
