In general, I like the food. It's fresh and tasty. I like how they've adjusted to take out only. They have a window on the side of the building for pick, and use a claw stick to hand you your check so they can retain social distancing. When you order pho, they pack the soup separate from the noodles, and even separate the raw meat from the cooked. They make sure to provide all the fixings, including hoisin and hot chili. I have found the hoisin to consistently taste fishy, which I've not been fond of. I also ordered pho with raw steak and brisket, twice. Once the order was correct, the other time I got beef balls instead...which I'm not fond of. Average pho place in the sea of options. read more

This place is our normal go to for pho take out in the neighborhood. It's located on the Mauka side of Waialae Ave. parking is behind the building which is a plus. We pick up from a window on the side of the bldg. The family usually orders combination pho while I normally always order their spring rolls and pork bahn mi and an occasional tapioca pudding. A pretty good amount of herb / sprout toppings are included with the pho so I normally don't like to throw out the extra unused basil, so we place the extras with the stems in a cup of water which ends up eventually sprouting roots and then we place in a potter and we also use the extra basil to make Thai loco moco. I also use the extra unused toppings for other dishes. With rising costs, gotta find good use with leftovers. The spring rolls are nice and crunchy with a slightly tangy sweet dipping sauce, this order is a meal in itself for me as I add the noodles thats included with this order into the extra pho broth my family doesn't use. It also has the lettuce, cucumber, mint and pickled radish / carrots which makes for a nice side salad if I don't use it as part of the wrapping over the spring roll. I discovered that it's a must to add in a very small amount of the spicy chili sauce to the pho broth to elevate the flavor, it makes a big difference. Unlike in the past I'd just do w/o as the dark chili sauce since it made me think "yikes too spicy". I've been ordering from here for some years, mostly take out. The Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup) here is really fantastic! I would have to say this is one of my fave places for this particular soup noodles. The soup is flavorful and very spicy, and it's loaded with herbs and meat: braised beef shank, pork knuckle, and Vietnamese sausage. Order it with a big appetite! The menu is pretty extensive and authentic, and offers a lot of other Vietnamese dishes like Bun, Pho or grilled meats on rice. I have only placed take out orders at Super Pho, but I have had enough experiences to give this place a fair rating. I have been herr quite a few times. Every time I went there, I was greeted by the Mama San with blonde hair. She seemed really nice and would always greet me when I would come. I would always ask for a menu so I could check which item I wanted to get. Then she would take my order and it would be ready within 15 minutes. It was usually this quick because the meat would have to cook in the boiling hot pho base. The only time that I had to wait for a long time was when they had a full house of customers in their restaurant. I understood that as to why it took a long time. They only get 4 stars because I believe they could do some renovations to make their restaurant look a little better. This place was recommended to my friend who then recommended to me after a couple of visits. Super Pho has a menu with a big selection. The 4 of us ordered 4 items, 3 desserts, and 2 iced coffee. They were all very good! The flan was as good as my mom's and the iced coffee has the perfect blend of strong coffee and milk. The summer roll has an added slice of pork which made it yummier! I meant to try Pho Da Cao on Keeaumoku but the night we went they were closed. Service has always been quick and friendly. First off the pho is very reasonably priced. It's not the best broth but they offer clear noodle as an option. The papaya salad is delicious and the crispy meat and garnish make it pop. That as well as the summer and spring rolls are good. I decided to hit this place for some beef pho today because I heard it was good. Well, it was good. The pho had a great broth and everything was fresh. The only complaint was that there wasn't tons of beef in my pho. I gotta have a lot of meat. The restaurant is really clean and they have televisions to keep you entertained. Sport Center was on, so I was a happy camper. Parking in the back is cool. The staff was really nice also. I'll probably be back again to try something else. read more

Super Pho is correct! Their pho is very good at the Kaimuki location. I enjoyed coming to the restaurant when I need some comfort pho food, especially when I feel a little bit under the weather. The food and service is super-pho good here. The staff is very friendly but sometimes they're not too helpful if you've any questions about the menu. I think it's because of the language barrier. Place is bright, clean and no frills except they got too many Buddha and lucky cats tchotchkes on the counter! I guess the concept of "less is more" seems to escaped the restaurant's decorator. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodles) and it tasted authentic. Generous amount of tender beef and pork hock pieces filled up the bowl and the spicy chiles worked so well with this Northern specialty dish. The quantity of the chiles used was just enough and not "unbearably" spicy. It's nice they give you a big plate of bean sprouts, basil, saw-tooth leaf, and mint herbs. Another dish I had was the delicious lemon beef salad. It was marinated well, served with fresh and crispy lettuce, slices of tomatoes, thin onions, lots of coriander herbs, pearl onion chips and crunchy chopped peanuts sprinkled all over the top. Delish! However, the one dish I come here for would be the 7-course beef. It's a yummy, yummy feast. Super Pho is definitely a favorite on my list of Top 8 Vietnamese restaurants on island. Oh my god! I live in Kaimuki and I see this relic of an establishment for a very long time in the neighborhood, but I never ever come over here. Located on Waialae Avenue, next door to the 7-11 and across the street from the Kaimuki park and Happy Days Chinese restaurant, Super Pho is one of those restaurants you don't see until you want to see it. On one recent evening, I was craving Pho, like always, so I suggested that we go to this new Vietnamese eatery place that's right down the street. To my surprise, this place fit the bill. This place had a few customers when we strutted in. It was about 6:30pm and a few people were leaving. One of the servers quickly gave us glasses of water, but her demeanor was non complacent and didn't say anything to us to even welcome us to the restaurant. How rude! But anyway, the person at the counter came by in about 2 minutes and offered us the menu. To my surprise, the price of Pho was cheaper than other places I had visited. $7.99 for a comparable bowl of Pho, whereas alot of places place their Pho bowl at $8.99+. I was estatic! Cheaper Pho for the $$. I ordered the rare steak Pho with extra noodles. For Pho, you should ask for extra noodles and Super Pho didn't disappoint! The Pho itself was pretty good, although I didn't order any extras. We left feeling pretty good and would soon be back, due to the cheaper prices. The auntie who was running the restaurant made us feel so welcomed as the first customers in the morning. She gave us many recommendations (especially bc we love Vietnamese food and I myself have been to Vietnam so we were looking for more traditional options rather than tourist tailored dishes). The menu was so extensive and had so many of our favorite dishes. I rarely get to go to a Vietnamese place that has Banh Mi, Cơm tấm, and Bún Bò Huế. They had so many options. We ended up getting Vietnamese coffee, fried calamari, chicken phở, chicken wings, banh mi, and fresh spring rolls. It was all delicious, and so incredibly fresh. The younger server we had was also extremely kind and helped us on everything we needed and went above and beyond to tailor to any of our needs. The place was also very clean and they had a great set up for covid protection, with sections that could be closed off with curtains which not only made us feel very comfortable if there were more people there but it gave customers lots of privacy! Super Pho, to me, has the best tasting broth ever. It's just right in terms of taste, not too salty, not bitter, taste clean I guess you could say. And the noodles are cooked just right! They compliment each other perfectly. Then you add your choice of meats, veggies, and other garnishes. I go for the rare beef and beef balls but up you really. If Pho is not for you today, go with their plates or sandwiches. I like the spicy lemongrass chicken plate/sandwich. Not so spicy but got a little kick. They also blend drinks too. There's avocado, lemonade, etc. (Sorry I can't memorize the whole menu!). The customer service is okay. The ladies there are better than the guys. I ordered combination with no tripe but more tendon and that order was incorrect, me and my partner had less meat, less noodle, the broth was watered down and the papaya salad was very bland. I come here pretty regularly (1-2x per week) and I have to say it's because it's decently priced and quick! I usually get spring rolls and some type of Bun or Pho. I really enjoy their spring rolls because they give you a lot of vegetables and some cold noodles to wrap with the lettuce. It comes out quick so it's a great place to go on the spot for a meal. The Bun is always hot and fresh. They have a variety of them, depending on what type of meats you like. I've also tried a few random dishes here and there, such as a fried noodle dish and and wrap-your-own summer roll type dish. I have to say though I'm not really a fan of their pho. It does come in a very large bowl (probably the size of a large at many other pho places on the island) but their soup base seems to lack flavor. Its just a little more dilute than I'm used to and I like my soup to have lots of flavor. So after trying a couple different types, I tend to stay away from the pho here. But some of my friends and family enjoy the soup that way, so it may be to your liking! read more

I've been to pho places before, and none particularly come to mind, when comparing this little place in town. I ordered the baseline - secret weapon #50, the BEEF. The menu also allows for substitutions of translucent noodles or egg noodles if heretics are so inclined for an extra charge. Your order comes with a side of lemons, mint, sprouts, jalapeños. The soup stock is amazing. Not too salty, and not too bland which is what I always worry about whenever I go to a noodle shop of any sort. The first jalapeño I ate with my beef and noodles was very bland and not a particular kick to the face at all. The second jalapeño slice, however, was ANGRIER than a summer movie villain who just realized he has no meaningful dialogue. Dhalsim's Yogafire is the comparison that comes to mind. The menu has been the same since the last picture. Most of the seasoning for pho is on the table except for sugar and the chili is homemade. For the bathroom it will be on the back of the building and I have to ask for the keys on the front. Any beef pho will be less expensive that the chicken pho. But the broth on both of them is just right.. it's not too salty and you can taste the bones they made it will.. it took awhile for them to refill our water even thou it was slow and not so much service but I do like ther pho. It's a good portion size. And for parking it was pretty hard so we just parked near happy days on there parking structure. read more
