    Carne asada
    Paulo M.

This is how they presented the carne asada dish. It appears that it was sauted on a frying pan instead of the grill. It has no taste and it does not look yummy at all. I could've prepared something better with a steak from Aldi. This is way too expensive for$15.99

    Lomo Saltado for carry-out
    Hibah S.

I tried the Lomo Saltado and the horchata for carry-out and it was pretty disappointing. Their Lomo Saltado is beef, red onions, tomatoes, spring onions, and cilantro cooked in olive oil on a bed of fries and a side of rice, and the beef and veggies tasted pretty good, but the tomato pieces were huge and the bed of fries was more like a king-sized bed. There must've been only 4 or 5 pieces of beef on top of a LOT of fries. I also didn't like the rice as it tasted old and over-cooked. The green chunky sauce was delicious but they don't give enough and charge for extra. I hated the horchata. It had a huge layer of grainy nasty cinnamon syrup on the bottom and wouldn't mix even after I spent 15 straight minutes mixing it. I threw it away. I'll come back to try the chicken but I'm not expecting much. I think it's hard to attract and keep new customers if they're serving this kind of quality. I like to think I just caught them on an off day because I have some coworkers who really love this place and I want to love it, too.

Greasy fried rice. I swear they cooked it in butter because that's what it tasted like.

I am giving two stars for the beauty of the restaurant, clean restrooms and friendly service even though their English was not very good. Now let's talk about the food: greasy, greasy, greasy. I ordered 1 whole chicken, fried rice, string beans and mixed veggies. The chicken was okay but nothing to jump up and down about. The fried rice tasted like they cooked it in butter (see photo) and was slightly over cooked. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't have a true Peruvian fried rice taste like its competitors. The string beans were also soaked in oil (see photo). They tasted like salty canned string beans. They added more salt to it which made it too salty. The mixed veggies were pretty good but I've had better. If you like your food cooked in lots of butter, oil and salt then you will like their food. I won't be eating here again unless someone else is paying for it.

I recently tried Azu Peruvian Cuisine in Rockville and overall had a solid experience. I ordered…read morethe lomo saltado, the copa, and the chupe de langostinos. The lomo saltado was well executed. The beef was tender, the fries were crispy, and the classic mix of soy sauce, onions, and tomatoes gave it that authentic Peruvian flavor. The portion size was generous and satisfying. The chupe de langostinos stood out. It was rich, creamy, and packed with shrimp, which is important because many places skimp on seafood in this dish. It had a deep, comforting flavor and felt very traditional. The place itself is small and casual but welcoming, and the service was friendly. Overall, it's a good spot in Rockville if you're looking for authentic Peruvian flavors. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

Nice set-up but they are still awaiting their liquor license (as of Jan. 2026), so they only serve non-alcoholic juices, sodas and water (for now) and hot teas on the weekends. The servers are very sweet and really know the food and menu. However, I did observe they are either a bit inexperienced, or the place is still getting things in order-- as they carry the food out without trays. I observed one server carrying a soup very close to the rim with bare hands. Now, for the food. An excellent array of varied dishes from different regions of Peruvian cuisine. My husband and I have tried our fair share of Peruvian food both in Peru and across various U.S. states. It's our go-to-food. The food here had its highs and lows. The Good & The Bad: Grilled octopus was delicious with a generous portion of everything served on sizzling skillet. Chorros à la chalaca (fresh mussels) served with pico. Both had a lovely presentation and savory flavors. Lomo saltado (sautéed beef tenderloin pieces) with fettuccine à la Huancaina served over a bed of fettuccine in a spicy cheese sauce (IYKYK). The Huancaina sauce was on point as was the sauce for the lomo--The (lomo) beef however was not. Beef was overcooked and tough to chew. And being a Peruvian spot the Classic Ceviche was a work of art but the flavor and the spice-level was lacking. Finally, I asked for a side of sauce and was charged for 2 oz. of sauce. They also tacked on a service charge fee for a table of two. Overall, the ambiance was nice and friendly but the food coming out of the kitchen did not warrant a $130 bill. Honestly, the prices are comparable for this kind of food. But I would expect better product and less hidden fees. I hope this small business will keep improving I'd love to give it another chance once they work out the kinks-- but judge for yourself!

It was awesome because my food was ready as soon as I arrived. The food was less than desirable for me. I or few red the 1/4 Peruvian chicken with rice and plantains. The chicken was a little tough however, it was seasoned well. The rice was delicious and cooked to perfection. I did not enjoy the plantains as they were not soft. They possibly weren't ripe enough. I wish I would've enjoyed the food bcs it's in a prime location and I can walk there from my residence. The ambiance was great. Music was playing in the background. The establishment was very clean. Overall, I had a decent experience. I would return and possibly try a different dish.

The seafood was fresh and tender, and the onions that came with practically everything was an especially good complement to the fried dishes. Our party of 7, including 2 very hungry adolescents, were fully fed at a very fair price even after tip. The trio or duo options were perfect for us to be able to try a greater variety of dishes without committing to a large portion of one thing. The tacu tacu was a nice surprise that I had never tasted before. The crispy rice and bean cake soaked up the delicious sauce perfectly while maintaining its crispiness on the edges. Well done! We are looking forward to the next time we can come back and try more of the dishes. The service was prompt and attentive, the interiors clean and inviting. I can't wait to go back!
