Villa's Market - 30 minutes cooking, same color

I have been shopping at Villa's Market for many years and have always trusted the quality of their…read moremeat. In fact, while I was in Tucson on June 12, 2026, I made a special trip to Villa's Market because of the reputation they have built over the years. The customer service was excellent, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. During that visit, I purchased several different cuts of beef, not just the diced taco meat shown in the photos. Unfortunately, every package we prepared raised the same concerns. Even after cooking the meat for well over 30 minutes, it never developed the normal appearance or texture we expect from fresh beef. Some pieces remained unusually red, and the pan was left with an excessive amount of strange white residue that looked nothing like the normal amount of fat released during cooking. What concerned us even more was the texture. Instead of feeling like cooked beef, the meat had a rubbery, almost plastic-like and gelatinous consistency. It was unlike anything my family and I have ever experienced. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable eating any of it. We made the decision to throw away every package of meat we had purchased because we simply did not trust its quality. More than the money we lost, what upset us most was wondering what would have happened if we had simply eaten it without questioning it. Food should give families peace of mind, not make them wonder whether it's safe to serve. Many local families--and even restaurants--depend on this market. That is why quality control should never be taken lightly. Selling meat that leaves customers questioning whether it is safe or of acceptable quality is, in my opinion, a complete lack of respect for the trust customers place in the business and for the hard-earned money they spend. Sadly, this experience has completely broken our trust. I will no longer shop or recommend Villa's Market

Even though they were metering people at the door they allowed you to grab 4 rolls and a package of paper. I think they have the best assortment of marinated meats at a reasonable price. They also have a lot of items you would expect to purchase in Mexico. Even though this is a small location it has almost everything you could want good want in a grocery store. Food, snacks, household items, and Mexican candles if you are going to setup a shrine. Be warned, if you are caught stealing and try to run your photo will be posted on the wall of shame by the front door. Honestly this is was probably my favorite part - seeing all the new faces weekly.

My wife wanted me to pick up a couple cosmetic items but every single one was under lock and key. Even a bottle of nail glue priced less than $1.50 had extra security and locked in a see through vault. To buy any item locked up requires a store employee to unlock. I never seen anything like this before with so much security except electronics. And that's where this store failed. The ultra high security aisles have a button to summons an employee if you wish to buy one of the locked up treasures, but when I tried no one responded to my many futile button presses. Later an employee was walking by and I flagged him down to see if he could help. Nope. He basically said it's not his job and I should press the button again and wait. Finally after about 15 minutes of waiting forget it. I'll go somewhere else later. I went in line to pay and had the grumpiest cashier ever. Not even an acknowledgment or even one spoken word. I kind of felt bad for her, she was either having a bad day or hated her job. If you know what you want, don't need any assistance or "customer service" or need anything that's locked up in the many acrylic display vaults, you'll be able to save some expense by shopping here. Just go with low expectations.

This is kinda my fault for not checking expectation dates but I bought 2 apple juices (tree top…read morebrand) and everyone in the house was extremely sick the next day. We walked in on a Tuesday during around 5:50PM and it was packed! The indoor seating was full, but they were able to offer patio seating which had ample lighting. For our dishes, we had the roasted beets, hanger steak, Sonoran ceviche (tuna and salmon) and bisou burger ice cream sandwich. I loved the labneh base for the beets. Honestly everything blew us away, I could taste the high quality in all the ingredients. Everything was so tasty that not a morsel was leftover! Also shout out to our server who was handling the entire patio while making sure we were taken care of. All the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. In their bodega, we also got chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and wagyu jerky. If we lived closer, I would've loved to get some of their fresh fish on display and various chops of meats. I highly recommend that you stop in and check out this incredible business!

A lone policeman stares you down as you walk in so I can imagine the clientele that requires a LEO on-site. On the other hand, that does mean lower prices and the staff are very friendly. Lots of parking in the huge lot outside. It's just a step down from a Fry's Food experience in PHX. Why they chose snowbird season to close it down to upgrade power is beyond me. Never saw anyone working on the sites however. Would be nice to get some communication for visitors. Traffic nearby outside of base can also get noisy with loud vehicles. I did hear someone complain about noise inside the base, called security and they said they couldn't do anything w/o catching them in the act. Base security was never seen by me. Maintenace folks ride around in gold carts and were visible. Sites are close but pretty normal. Bathrooms, showers, laundry clean. Laundry prices raised due to expenses incurred by patrons washing dog blankets with lots of hair reportedly. Office staff were Ok. Recommend and would stay here again.
