We do this often so I have stayed at each hotel in town and the Holiday Inn Express Suites Rantoul is far and away the nicest in town. Our room, the king suite, was extremely nice and very spacious with a comfy bed and pillows. The couch pulls out but since we didn't need it I cannot comment on the comfort of the sleeper sofa. The bathroom and shower were beautiful with average water pressure. The indoor pool and hot tub were nice. Both were warm. It was a little odd having the pool be so warm but I'd rather have a warm pool rather than a cold pool.

The bathroom was not the cleanest. Bathtub and sink were dirty as was the floor. Not very good soundproofing. The people in the room above us were very active way past 10 pm. This morning, we went down to breakfast and there were no biscuits for the gravy. No cinnamon rolls, the pancake machine was out of order as were 2 juice options. As we left, we heard an employee shouting, using absolutely foul language, which was totally unacceptable. We'll find a different hotel next time.

Danvilles hotels unfortunately have a reputation of having roaches or bed bugs-thats a no from me. I'd rather drive. I chose this hotel based on reviews. As someone familiar with military dorms , this place brought back some nostalgia. Pros- breakfast offered fresh fruit, cereal (with oatmilk optional!), bagels, eggs, potato, bacon and fresh coffee and juice. The bread tasted fresh not stale. And the coffee was rich (they use Starbucks ground coffee). The place is aged and the surrounding buildings are still abandoned after the Air Force base closed, but the hotel itself is clean and bug free , though there were giant mosquitoes outside. The room itself has a dorm feel even with a walk in closet and kitchenette (no hot plate or stove). There are definitely areas that the room could use replacement, like the shower floor or aged tiles on the bathroom floor. But there was no mold present in the bathroom including the shower curtain and the pressure of the water was fantastic. I checked the room for bugs and stains or hair that wasn't mine. I was pleased not finding any. I even checked the coffee pot where bugs usually hang out or the microwave, non present either. The only place was the shower stopper that had hair in it that wasn't mine that looked like it wasn't mine and was missed by housekeeping. I'll give them a pass for that. Also they don't come by and clean the rooms between days you stay there but they're nice enough to help you out with towels or what not if you need it. Also I drove around the neighborhood trying to see the sketchy vibe someone mentioned. As someone that grew up in the hood in LA, I didn't get that same hood vibe. It's definitely poverty stricken but people keep to themselves anyway. I'm visiting Danville again in December and already rebooked my stay.

Much cheaper than the hotels closer to campus, but not far from campus by car. It's out in the middle of nowhere, this used to be a military base of some sort and it feels like an abandoned military base. It's in that third stage of life for a motel, taken over by a South Asian immigrant family, it's run down and old, but clean and friendly. The Wifi wasn't working, and I had a lot of work to do, so that was a big negative. They were overwhelmed with travelers on their way to the Path of Totality for the 2024 solar eclipse, it was a long wait to check in and a long walk from the far end of the packed parking lot. My desk chair was missing a wheel. The only food around is Domino's delivery, which is America's saddest meal. I've stayed in worse.

My husband and I have been here for three days now due to a flood in our basement which knocked out our furnace and hot water heater. The Magnuson (First) Heritage Inn has been a Godsend!!!!! They have a very nice bathroom with a tub just made for soaking in. The bathtub does have two VERY STURDY METAL GRAB BARS with a shower chair that is, big enough for a grizzly bear. The bathroom also has tons of cabinet space with drawers to keep things!!!! We are staying in the handicapped room, they are on the ends right next to a large handicapped parking space and an easy accessible ramp that pretty much leads right into the room. The beds are quite comfortable and the room is too. The heating, cooling system is quiet. And puts out the heat. It is January. The controls for the heater, air conditioner are very easy to read with big buttons to push. The tv is very good too with the cable channels you pretty much expect. The people that work at the Magnuson First Heritage Inn are AMAZING!!!! Extremely nice and they didn't make me feel stupid when I had to have them come to my room to help me program the microwave. Okay it was blinking and the buttons wouldn't work. The gentleman hit a button and Voila!! it worked. I asked what he did. He told me, it was the clear button, which was clearly labeled. He was a total gentleman. My husband and I will definitely come back to the Magnuson First Heritage Inn.

They initially gave me a room with no bed (likely the living room area for a suite) and they immediately fixed the problem. Once I got into my room, it was relaxing and wonderful. The king rooms have a walk in shower and the twin queen bed rooms have a bathtub/shower combo. I mention this as those traveling with kids might prefer the tub option. Every room has a mini fridge. Traveling with little ones here is nice because they can offer a microwave in your room if requested. Made a big difference for us traveling with a young one. The gym is small but they do have a peloton bike among other equipment like free weights and other cardio equipment. Complimentary breakfast has warm savory options like egg burritos both with and without meat. They also offer oatmeal, fruit, yogurt and bagels with plenty of refreshments. Parking is free and easy to find. There's also a complimentary shuttle to take you to places on campus if you have no car. There are also bikes at the hotel to get around. All in all, we enjoyed our stay as did our guests for graduation.

While I awaited repairs to the new home I bought, I stayed at Comfort Suites in Urbana, a brief four day sojourn, but LET. ME. TELL. YOU! Okay, so firstly, am I right on this or am I right?! Like, have you ever seen a Comfort Suites so highly rated? Maybe I'm unfamiliar with the brand, I admit, I think that might have been my second or third one (Chicago being my first and that one had windows that shook with the wind ;)), but not only was the room lovely (spacious for sure!) with all your typical amenities, but for me it was the STAFF. THE STAFF in this place (and yes, it deserves a shout) is like.... PHENOMENAL. STELLAR! OUT OF THIS WORLD. Now, before you think I'm over-exaggerating, let me tell you why... I'd not only returned to Champaign after being gone for 15 years, but I'd returned home after the dissolution of a 30 year marriage! On my own again, alone! Not only had I come back without a husband, but I'd returned without the awesomest use of my legs (after a tragic accident), so with two huge suitcases and a house I'd only seen through a videocam, I'd made a lot of big moves. Especially for someone with a pretty massive handicap! Well, Sales Manager Laura was there ALL. THE. WAY. She helped me physically, she sat down in my room with me, she like actually listened to me share my tale, she took GENUINE interest (there was no -hand out- or even an *ask*, I assure you!, (the only mention of money was my own, stating that I wished I could give her staff more for all *their* help (and her comment was only to say that they were hardworking and deserving, which they were!)). Laura was professional, but she made no effort in hiding her heart of gold, and I'm here to tell you, friends, it burst from her! She was professional, like I said, but she was so compassionate and caring and she shared her life with me in return! It made the whole thing feel like she was a friend! And, honestly, there was something really revelational in that (in that it was so rare, but sweet and earnest!). When my time was up, Laura helped me pack my bags, get the car around, and she hoisted those two huge bags into the my trunk like she'd been working life-long at the airport! From there, she bundled me up, sending me on my way, out into the great unknown! With a lot of hope, a lot of heart, and a huge smile! All of this hospitality -- yes, there's the word! -- all of this work in the name of care and concern for her customer! A stranger she'd just met! A person who, in the span of a couple days, made feel like family. Comfort as a brand, at least for a while, was using the slogan "Rested. Set. Go." but it was Laura who truly made me think of a real oldie. Something that felt more applicable to my time spent there... and like an old pair of jeans warm from the dryer, a real comfort classic, it was a staple in that industry -- "We'll leave the light on for you."
