Worst hospital I've ever been to, the emergency room is ridiculous. They don't care about their patience. Horrible, just horrible.

Being that I'm half Italian, and her being of Italian descent, we kind of got that warm connection of our heritage kicking in right away, which made the recovery process run a lot smoother than normal. Cheers to you, Jamie, hats off to a wonderful sweet girl and an excellent employee of 20 years of service to a great Hospital.

I felt we were in the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest because I was right there with her every single night, I witnessed everything firsthand. No one looks out for a parent the way their family does, and the fact that these incidents occurred with me present speaks volumes. Lack of Basic Patient Safety: The nurses on this floor operated without common sense or proper safety protocols. They expected an 88-year-old woman with severe balance issues to get up and walk around unsupported, completely disregarding basic safety and patient dignity. Inappropriate Treatment During Procedures: While I briefly stepped away, my mother was treated poorly during a blood draw, experiencing repeated punctures and ignored pain. Fortunately, a visitor in the room intervened and instructed staff to stop. The staff's reaction was unprofessional. When I returned, it was clear that this type of treatment would not be tolerated. Inefficient Discharge and Insurance Procedures: Upon discharge, a nurse named Madina attempted to delay her release for another 24 hours due to uncompleted discharge paperwork. The priority seemed focused on administrative delays rather than patient health, and proper action was only taken after I threatened to contact Patient Relations. Lack of Standard Discharge Protocols: In comparison to other major hospitals where discharge includes a proper handoff, safe removal of IVs, and a wheelchair for a dignified exit, our experience here lacked basic class and training. I had to physically demand a wheelchair to ensure she could leave safely. Poor Facility Conditions: The physical condition of the floor matches the poor standards of the staff. There was visible filth, garbage overflowing from bags into the open, and neglected bathrooms that appeared not to have been cleaned properly in a long time. Bright Spots: Despite these severe issues, I want to highlight a few individuals who stood out: Nurse Justin showed genuine compassion and is a credit to the field. Arena, Sonia, and Nelly were also decent. However, other staff members were unprofessional, and I intend to follow up with Patient Relations regarding their names. Conclusion: Maimonides management currently lacks adequate control and standards on this floor. To resolve poor communication and coordination, leadership must hold mandatory team meetings to set clear expectations, define roles, and establish daily check-ins. I do not want any other family to go through this experience. Until leadership cleans up this floor and holds staff accountable, I would advise others to keep their family members away from the 10th Avenue 5th-floor facility.

Upon enetering it is not entirely clear where to go to check in and I felt like I was pulling teeth to get someone's attention to assist me. I was asked to arrive 30 Mins early for paperwork. I completed the paperwork promptly and then waited ~10 minutes past my appointment to be seen. The dentist I saw was professional and courteous. He reviewed the findings with me and told me what the next steps were. The tech who took my Xrays was patient with me (I hate sticking those things in my mouth!) and also friendly. At 'checkout' you have to sign a waiting sheet to make an appointment. This took another 10- 15 minutes before I was seen. I was informed that cleanings only happen Mondays and Saturday's and since I work on Mondays, Saturday was the only option. Of course, the closest Saturday they had available was 1.5 months away. :/ In any event, I will continue to go here because I like the dentist. I will repost further ex[experiences as they arise!

And while it doesn't have the bells and whistles as our previous place, we had a great experience! The hygienists were extremely sweet with both of our kids (age 4 and 18 months), and did everything they could to keep them entertained and happy while they received care. We had two early-morning appointments and were in and out within an hour. By the time we left, you could tell the lobby was filling up so I imagine wait times increase as the day goes on.

A couple of weeks later they billed me a few hundred dollars for the device. Eventually it was cleared up but I saw dishonesty. On 7/15/2025 I went there for a routine checkup with Dr. Kabalkin and they first conducted the 5 minute EKG. He handed me the printout and said I could tape it to my refrigerator. When I asked about the previous diagnostic report. he told me he didn't write the report because he was on vacation and a different doctor wrote it and it's all manufactured lies. For this routine checkup with Dr. Kabalkin on July 15,2025 my insurance was billed $1,337. Why put a person through paying co-pays, billing his insurance at very high rates, making him patiently cooperate with monitoring devices and all kinds of testing if the diagnostic report is all "manufactured lies"? This is the highest form of dishonesty and corruption.

It was so…read moreawful I can't even get into all of it, but please for your health stay away from Dr. Poroshat Shekarloo. The office also accidentally overbooked, me and 30-40 others were in the waiting room standing because no more chairs. The entire thing took 4 hours so I missed an event I was heading to after. In summary, Dr. Shekarloo pressured me into a sonogram that, as someone with trauma and PTSD, I didn't want nor was prepared for. It hurt and I cried the entire time. She ALSO tried to pressure me into a pap smear that I absolutely didn't need by lying about the requirements (I am literally a scientist soooo). She got upset when I said no. She also made fun of me and called me crazy for being in so much menstrual pain that I was considering a hysterectomy. Even the medical assistant was trying to keep herself calm while the "doctor" was being so mean to me. Nothing could have prepared me for this treatment. I left mentally traumatized, crying and in physical pain, and with zero solutions for endometriosis. Some doctor she is. There were even more awful things she said/did but this is the summary. I will put the rest on ZocDoc. Please protect yourself from this woman. She mentioned having a 14 year old daughter, I feel so bad for that precious girl. I hope she's okay. Dr. Shekarloo, please reflect upon your behavior. You clearly aren't okay and shouldn't be in this field. I hope you get the help you need, and soon. Lol.
