Maybe if they already have your tires in stock, you'll be fine. Otherwise, GO ANYWHERE ELSE.
I started this ordeal in August by ordering tires through the Walmart app. For THREE WEEKS, the order showed as "delayed." I tried calling the tire center, but naturally, nobody answered the phone.
After three weeks, I finally came to the store in person to find out where my tires were.
At first, the desk said they had no record of the purchase and told me something about online orders being through a third-party vendor that they couldn't see. Eventually, they found the order and discovered it had been cancelled.
By whom? No idea.
Fine. I bought the tires again, in person, at that exact desk, and was told to call 1-800-WALMART for a refund on the original order.
When I called, Walmart initially tried to tell me that the original tires had already been picked up.
Really?
If I had already picked them up, why was I standing in the store buying the same tires a second time?
They did refund my money within about two hours, so at least that part was resolved.
Fast-forward two weeks to my tire installation appointment.
My appointment was for 8:00 AM. I arrived at 7:50 AM.
After waiting about five minutes for someone to check me in, the associate couldn't find the tires I had purchased AT THAT VERY DESK, IN PERSON, TWO WEEKS EARLIER.
Eventually they found them, but I wasn't actually checked in until about 8:25, twenty-five minutes after my scheduled appointment.
Fine.
At 9:45 AM, almost two hours after I arrived, I looked into the service bays. My car wasn't there.
For one foolish moment, I thought that meant they had already finished.
Nope.
THEY HAD NOT EVEN STARTED.
Apparently, they had taken walk-in customers ahead of someone with an 8:00 AM appointment.
Then I was told my car required a "special lift."
There are two bays clearly labeled TIRES. When I arrived at 7:50, there was a red car in the left bay and the right bay was empty.
At approximately 9:50 AM, they finally pulled my car into the bay containing this supposedly necessary "special lift."
Which bay was it?
The right-hand tire bay that had been sitting EMPTY since I arrived two hours earlier.
The Team Lead then told me the installation would take another 45 minutes.
So an 8:00 AM tire appointment, for tires I had already paid for and that were supposedly waiting for me, did not even BEGIN until nearly 10:00 AM.
Between the mysteriously cancelled original order, having to buy the tires twice, Walmart claiming I had already picked up tires I never received, the store losing track of the tires I bought in person, the late check-in, taking walk-ins ahead of my appointment, and leaving the required service bay empty for nearly two hours, this has been an astonishingly frustrating experience.
If the tires you want are not already sitting there ready to go, save yourself the aggravation and have them installed somewhere else.
