This wasn't my first rodeo with the basement flooding so I had a baseline for comparison. The first time it flooded, I had called a large franchise that also provides carpet cleaning services. The first company extracted the water, took off baseboards, drilled holes in the bottom of the drywall, treated for mold, and ran descent sized fans on it for days. In the end, I was left to reinstall the baseboards. If I'm being honest, it was not a quality re-install. DIY construction shows failed me. Numbers are more my speed. In comparison, the Advance Restoration team actually removed the damaged drywall (at least 1/4 of the bottom), treated the area for mold, had a legion of really heavy duty fans and dehumidifiers running, and to my surprise, they actually replaced everything they tore out. Yes...they even reinstalled the baseboards -- something the previous company never did. I was a huge fan at that point. But wait there is more... This is the best part - they also recommended installing a backup sump pump with an alarm so I could avoid round 3. I had no idea this type of thing existed! I really appreciated how thorough and helpful they were. Plus my dog was a fan.... Needless to say I purchased the backup sump pump from my local plumber and had it installed so I can stop giving the sump pump side eye every single time it rains. The whole experience made me understand that this company actually cared more about doing a good job than getting a repeat customer. Extremely rare these days. Obviously, they earned every single one of the five stars.

They were fast at first, but once the cleanup ended, the "reconstruction" phase became a nightmare. The Trap: They demanded a 70% deposit before they would even give me a quote, a timeline, or a walkthrough. The Fees: When I refused to pay for an invisible plan, they charged me massive cancellation feejust to walk away. The contract signed during the mitigation process gives them the ability to conduct your reconstruction on their timeline. The Threats: They claimed they could sue me for "lost profits" because I wouldn't agree to their unreasonable terms. They are great at the emergency part, but they use predatory contracts to lock you into expensive repairs. Get everything in writing before you sign a single page with this company.

The other company came out, seemed knowledgeable, looked around the house a little (didn't go into the attic or do a deep inspection) and did an air mold test. The test showed high levels of Pen/Asp mold group in the master bedroom but the other company was unable to come back for almost two weeks and could not provide an exact quote until they came back. Due to my autoimmune issues and the symptoms I was having, we did not want to wait that long. That is when we contacted weDry. I was very overwhelmed due to the situation and first spoke with Amy, who was very kind and understanding. Even though she was professional, she made me feel comfortable, like I was talking to a friend instead of just a business. She was able to have someone out right away to do an inspection. When Mike came out to do the inspection, not only was he also kind and professional, he was extremely thorough. Pulling back the carpeting and padding in the closet, going up into the attic to look around, and even looking through all of the basement insulation. I was very impressed with the time and effort he put in to finding the source of the mold smell. WeDry was able to get a detailed quote back same day that showed a breakdown of every single expense so you know exactly where your money is going. I was also impressed by how quickly I would receive email responses from Amy or that she would touch base to see how I was doing. The cause of the mold ended up being due to an outside issue and our HOA stepped in to handle the repairs, using their own company. However, if Amy and Mikes work ethic are a reflection of weDry Restoration and the rest of their team and services, then I would say they are an outstanding company and believe that other companies should take a page from their book.

No unpacking, no cleaning of things they told me they would have cleaned, no communication. I don't understand why they (said they) inventory everything and took pictures so it would go back to the same place they got it from, if they aren't going to finish the job and unpack, and verifiy that nothing was damaged. Very very disappointed in my experience with this company. I am currently still unpacking things myself, and I'm an old man, so it takes me a very long time, but I needed my life / basement workbench back.
