I've had my solar approved by SC&E for a week now and I have emailed and called for a week straight with no response from either of my "project manager" contacts or the customer service line. Worse solar company ever. The salesperson who sold me on the system was nice of course and everything sounded fine at the beginning. They kind of talk you into it which is the consumer's fault of course. So my system stopped producing for several months and I was never notified. Edison notified me with a bill of almost one thousand dollars. When I called sun run they gave me the run around. Not documenting accurate notes on the several times I have called. I've been dealing with this since December. They say that they are going to write me a check since my system did not produce as promised. Still waiting. They called it a lease but as I later found out it's actually a lean on your property. "Fine print". I'm currently dealing with an issue of transferring my solar system to the new buyer. I'm in agreement and so is the new buyer, so guess who is holding up my deal and not letting it close? Yes sun run.. for whatever strange reason sun run does not want to release me from liability even though the new buyer is willing to take over the system. I think what they want is to hold the escrow process hostage till someone pays the system in full. Shady and illegal I'm guessing. My family and I just got solar with sunrun and our overall experience has been amazing from start to finish, the company exceeded all expectations. First the process was efficient,precise, and well organized from onboarding/ approval process all the way up to the installation date. When the installation date came a team of well mannered professionals arrived guided by Mr. William Razo . His team were on time, efficient , had great customer service / communication, they were quick and kept us updated throughout the process best installation experience we've ever received, work was definitely clean cut. I highly recommend if anyone needs solar go with sunrun and make sure you request Mr.Razo's amazingly trained team of professionals. read more

This has been the worst experience I have ever had in dealing with any home product. Everything seemed normal when they came as my wife was here and I was away. I was coming home expecting to have everything done. Not even close. They broke so many tiles. And left a giant black tarp on top of my roof with no word on when they were going to return. There were tiles falling off my roof and nails scattered on the floor where my dogs and children play. I called SunRun and they asked me to call a third party who actually did it. Thats one thing about SunRun, they don't even do the install. They outsource it to others and expect you to call them. A roofer came days later to remove tiles. That meant more tiles and nails for me to clean up. Then I was sent more phone numbers to call. I was told it was going to be done soon, which seemed like a tactic to let the 5 days expire before I can cancel. I've been on the phone with SunRun and give you the run around. They say someone with contact in 5-7 days. Then I get another email saying someone will contact in 24-48 hours. Here I am 3 days later and still nothing. SunRun has a communication and outsourcing issue. I signed with SunRun more than 2 weeks ago and have a ruined roof, I don't feel safe for my children to play outside, I have to constantly check for nails for my dogs, and I'm all out of days off to wait for them to finish what they said they would. This was supposed to be an addition of solar that was done years ago that was done in hours. I wish I can go back and slam the door on anyone that came to my house promoting SunRun. I will continue to tell anyone and everyone I know to never go with Sun Run. read more

My one experience with Sunrun: an obnoxious, aggressive salesman who literally stopped me on the sidewalk in front of my home and refused to take my "please leave me alone" request without challenging and pressing me. What a total jerk! Such people should be jailed for harassment, in my opinion. And I saw the "Sunrun" name tag, which made me all the more aversive. The language I used: it wasn't pretty. Worst solar company ... Their customer service is AWFUL and after they install it you cant get a hold of them. My original Sunrun system was installed ..it stopped working, and NO ONE notified us.... I got a $900 PG&E bill and when called SunRun they said Oh really looks like your system hasn't been working for over 6 weeks. Took another month to schedule an appt to fix it ....no reimbursement no explanation. Second I asked for a Critter guard to be installed.. OH Sure, No problem only to find out that the system actually had to be turned on first which took an additional FIVE MONTHS. There was pigeon nests under every panel our sidewalks and walkways were filled with pigeon poop and walking out of the house every day the pigeons would scatter within a few feet of your head. NO ACCOUNATABILITY! Customer service is not existent and honestly, I have no idea if the system is working one day to the next .,... I had to pay for critter guard from another company because after 4 tickets and three escalations to managers no call backs I got tired of waiting ... Horrible company DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

I'm really disappointed with the service. They tell you everything you want to hear. But right after you sign they dissappear. I started the process in July, we are almost in November and still no service. My solar payment is in a few days and I'm still paying my electric bill. I really wish I would of done my research before going with them. I really wish if your reading this don't use them. I don't want other people going through the same issues as me and everyone else on here. I'm not sure but I believe they have other solar companies to install the solar panels. That's why they don't care what happens after you sign. But everything they said they did the total opposite. He promised service up and running in 6 weeks. I should have 25 panels. They only installed 24 and said the generate more power. I this point I don't believe anything they say. I system has failed the inspection before and waiting on the new one. Do NOT do business with SunRun Solar. They are THIEVES. On May 2 I paid my bill online as I always do. Admittedly, I made a mistake, typing in an extra digit as payment. Yes it was dumb and MY mistake. When. I realized my mistake, I contacted them immediately. I spoke to billing. "We can't do anything." Then I spoke to a billing supervisor. We will make this "priority" and call you back. NO call back. Over the last two weeks I have spoken to billing, customer service, supervisors and managers. They refuse to give me the name of someone who can help. I get put on hold for "2 to five minutes" over and over and over until some calls last an hour. Then disconnect. When I called yesterday, I was told that billing is working Monday, billing is NOT working Monday, they might get me the check in 2-3 weeks, my call was disconnected, the last woman I spoke with was eating food the entire time we were on the phone, chewing in my ear. I was told I will just have that amount as credit on my account. NO! I was PROMISED a call on Tuesday. I won't hold my breath. At this point I have been trying to get my $2199.00 BACK from this company for THREE WEEKS! Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They are all trained to lie, say "I understand your situation" and pass the buck. No one who works there has an ounce of integrity. I am filing a report with the Better Business Bureau. Absolutely a horrible company. We have had 2 error codes in the past 6 months. When we scheduled to have someone come out they never showed, never called to say they weren't coming. We had to call to reschedule and wait days for someone to call back. This company acts like it's a privilege to have there panels on your roof. Also they completely under powered our house. We still end up with $400 electrical bills on top of the solar bill. I would highly recommend using a different solar company. read more

Sunrun is a great company as long as the solar works fine. As soon as problems pop up, you call and call and call, email one after another without any response. Horrible company. I would never install solar on any houses with Sunrun again. We never had any electrical issues with this house until Sunrun installed solar. Since then our refrigerator, oven, 2 microwaves, 1 Tv, and Dishwasher broke. All resulted in smoke. Luckily we were home to unplug the appliances while smoking before it turned into a fire. We called Sunrun numerous times, but no help. Apparently our LG battery was recalled and they said they will put us on fast track for a new one, which is now almost 2 years ago. No response, no help. We now live without a refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and microwave for almost two years. We cannot just purchase new appliances, because we don't know where the issue is. Signed back in February didn't get my system installed until September and that was because I called Edison myself to verify the meter spot was done, which was the reason I was given for the project being held up. It was done back in May. 1st Project coordinator was rude and didn't do his job causing me to go through the summer (most expensive for electricity) without my system installed. I've been trying to get my power box replaced. It's been 3 years and still it hasn't been replaced. 3 years ago my power went out in my house. I called pg&e, they came out quickly. Only to find out that my solar power box is not working. So I had to call an electrician on Fourth of July. It happened on that day. YES it was in 100's (temperature) My bill for the electrician was a little over $1,000. So I contacted Sunrun and was supposed to get reimbursed for it. It never happened. Then I've made soo many appointments to get the solar box replaced. Either, it was a no call no show, not in the right timeframe that I scheduled the appointment and they come about 5-6 hours late with no notification. I've talked to many managers about my issue. 3 years later I'm still in the same situation. Managers don't care at all. When I call they hang up on me. I've explained myself soo many times that it's ridiculous now. Vivant Solar/ Sunrun is a joke. Don't choose them for solar. read more

Read thru the reviews and you will understand the frustrations that so many Sunrun customers have experienced. I my case. a Permit to operate issued on Sept 2, 2021, with net metering beginning in near September 28, 2021. Numerous calls made to ask why I was not receiving a bill for the power produced only to be told by Sunrun Customer Service in mid January, 2022 that they had not receiver a permit to operate from their installer, SolNova. Called Courtney at SolNova who confirmed that a the PTO had been issued on Sept 2, 2021 and forwarded to SunRun in Mid September. Contacted my Sales Rep, who I repeatedly was in contact with. to ask why no billing to with this information and was assured I would not be back billed. Well, that was not honored by Sunrun. I received last week a billing for 5 months of power back to September. Don't trust Sunrun. They don't stand behind their reps. I have reached out numerous times to get this resolved, but no one from SunRun has contacted me except for an auto-generated email that indicates "we will be in touch within 2-7 business days". On Thanksgiving I had a roof leak in my house. I had the builder come out to look at the issue. They told me there is a broken tile that caused the water leak by Sunrun solar company. Sunrun has now voided my warranty from the builder for my roof. The roof leak has also caused drywall damage. I had the panels installed back in 2014 and the installers never told me that they cracked a tile on the roof. I have a two story high roof that I can't get on. Sunrun told me I should of told them the problem within the first six months on insulation. The problem didn't occur till now for that issue to arise. DO NOT GOT WITH SUNRUN SOLAR COMPANY because they won't stand behind what do or issues that arise from what they did. read more

AVOID Sun Run, if you can work with another solar panel company, I would. The company is a mess! I've probably spent 4 hours in total on hold with their customer service. There's no communication within the company and you keep going around in circles. I had my roof redone and scheduling them to remove and reinstall has been a nightmare. They sound like they outsource another company to do the actual removal but that communication line is not efficient. Your "Case Manager" never pick up their phone and the worst part, there's no way for the customer to follow up. They have it setup so only they can contact you....only problem is they never follow through! So i've had to call the general customer service line over and over and over to explain my situation and start over. I never usually get upset but it was so excruciating and to have them redo everything took a period of 8 months which is ridiculous. I hope a higher up reads this and understands the way they are running this company makes no sense. No efficient system in place and this creates more work for your employees and for angry customers. The hold music is so triggering for me now...I hope to never have to call them again. read more

I have been has disconnected twice after over 1hour hold on phone, after their callback. I was assurred they would call back if disconnected, nope. System is down hard, has been for a month. Do not do business with Sunrun. They are very responsive while they are trying to get your business but once you are a customer they are horrible. From day 1 we have had problems. We are not producing enough energy and we are getting billed by Edison. We have only had our panels a year. This is Sunruns' business. They should be able to see your bills and the size of your home and help you with the amount of panels. I even added panels at point of sale to ensure we had enough. It was on me tho to figure it out and I am not a professional. This is not my business. We got a bill from Edison recently for $500 for 3 months. I called Sunrun to come and check our panels and help us figure the problem out. The first call they told me there was an "alert" sent to them saying our system had a problem. The tech was going to call us to schedule appointment to come out. ( No one alerted us there was a problem, I had to call to find out they all ready knew we had problem) 6 days go by and no one calls to schedule appointment. I call back and the idiot tells me that the system does not detect problem and tech will not come. I tell her I want a tech to come anyway to check out system and educate us more on our system. She is adamant in telling me no. I am furious that I cannot get help. I ask to speak to supervisor and she puts me on hold then comes back telling me to send all of our electric bills to them and they will have case mgr call us. SO I don't get a supervisor. I bought Solar from Vivint which they installed the Incorrect System over a year ago and Sunrun bought this contract and NO ONE from Vivint, Sunrun will correct this. I've paid the payment plus a power bill for 14 months while everyone I talk to acknowledged the Mistake no one will do any to fix it. I recently was contacted by Kimberly Ramirez and had hope as she had me rush everything to her and promised to get back to me at the first of week! I waited until Thursday to call her and of course she will not answer the phone and emails me about she'll look into it and then complete silence. There was no communication of this promise and an actual denial that this was communicated. Unbelievable!!. The installation of roofing and panels was done without a way to make sure this was possible. Now I am waiting for someone to at least paint the pipes. After several calls and promises no one has followed up. I heard from my project manager one time only to introduce himself and was not able to contact him again. I've convinced 3 people so far to go solar but to steer clear of this company. I could not be more disappointed after spending 35K. read more

Still terrible. 7 weeks later and equipment is still broken and I'm still paying for this lease. The worst customer care and follow up of any company I've ever dealt with. No one ever calls back. They all give a canned answer of "I'll get back with you in 48 hours". No one ever does. Heard the same thing for weeks across several people. The company should be ashamed of themselves. I shouldn't have to chase down someone to fix a broken inverter that I'm leasing from them and they are supposed to fix. Been over six weeks. Wish I never went with them. So far this has been a very frustrating experience. We contacted the company in the summer to get a quote for solar. All of that went well and we decided to move forward. Install was done with no issues. Well, coming up on 4 months later and it is still not up and running. We were given an inspection date in November, but when the technician came out he said we needed a new breaker ordered so we didn't pass inspection. No big deal...well come to middle of December we get a call from Sunrun saying we have a new inspection day for 12/13. Technician came out to replace the breaker only to find out whoever ordered it, ordered the wrong size. He calls the city to see when inspection window is, and they have no appointment from Sunrun! The technicians and the city have not been an issue. These problems are coming from the "coordinators", project and inspection coordinators to be exact. I have been on the phone multiple times asking for updates only to be told "sorry and we will look into it and call you back." They never do and I end up having to call back once a week with absolutely no information on what will happen next. The apologies are useless. I have equipment on my roof that isn't being used. Whoever is running things on the office side of this company needs to reexamine how things are being done. So disappointing. *UPDATE 12/05* Still no inspection due to not having the proper breaker for our panel. Over the holiday break with the rains, we had a leak under our front porch directly under one of the installed panels and had to put in a claim. No word on that yet. As of yesterday, a technician came out with another breaker. They never called to let us know they were even coming. It was the wrong make AGAIN. Our power was partially out for a minute, no problem. Before the technician left, he said he was going to take pictures of our breaker to show his boss. Well, he never turned the power he turned off back on. I went to check the panel, and the breaker on the bottom is not there?! (Turns out he put it in the wrong spot and turned off, & now someone has to come out to correct this error) I was on the phone half the day with customer service. Between hold times and dropped calls they tried to tell me I would have to wait 24-48 hours for a call back to set a time for someone from field services to come fix this. Not acceptable! I called our project manager, who was not available, so I spoke with another project manager. She was able to get a supervisor involved and cc'd our project manager as well as our installation coordinator. As of this morning I have heard nothing. I attempted to call our project manager again, but she was not available so I left a voicemail. Not only are our panels not up and running, I have a claim for a roof leak, and now only partial power to my home for 24 hours and counting. Fortunately Sean and Brenda have been two people have been attempting to fix these messes. I can't even make this nightmare up. Now we have to sit and wait for them to fix their errors, before we can even get another scheduled inspection. read more

I agreed to have Sunrun install a solar system on our house. The initial cost to purchase the system was $30,064.00 I signed loan paperwork for this amount. I was then told I needed a service panel upgrade which added another $3,000.00 to the cost and so I signed new loan paperwork for this amount. On the day of installation, the techs told me they were going to install only 16 panels instead of the original 17 without discussing this with me prior. The reason for this was that these were a higher wattage panel and so they didn't need as many. Now they want to charge me over $37,000, with no explanation for the addition cost, and when you call them, they don't answer. Meanwhile, they claim they are waiting on Edison and the city to do inspections, to turn my system. I have a system on my roof I can't even use! I'm currently seeking legal action against Sunrun. read more

They keep claiming they are waiting on a meter spot however I contact Edison myself and was told the spot read was done May 21st. I paid $12,000 for 8 panels. My home is a new development the builders chose this horrible company. Once I got the permission to operate from Edison which by the way takes 45 days from closing so don't think that just cause the solar panels are installed you generate energy right away. after we got permission to operate they send me an e-mail on how to connect the solar panels with pictures. I paid Spectrum $0 to come and connect my internet and cable, I paid SUNRUN $12,000 and i got pictures on an e-mail! JOKE OF A COMPANY! Another 45 days later the panels are not generating any energy because they have a joke for online account where you can see how much energy is being generated. 90 days later I can't get a hold of customer service or a technician they don't answer your e-mails and they don't answer the phones you get caught in this autogenerated phone because it doesn't recognize my phone number!!!!! I finally get a technician to come out today and they change the date on the day of my appointment to the next day after I take the day off! SUNRUN is being sued by a community where they convinced them to lease the panels instead of buying because they make money off the lease not the sales! PLEASE READ REVIEW GO WITH OTHER COMPANIES just because they have a little stand at COSTCO doesn't mean they are the best. i hope I save someone like me from making a bad decision. read more

When I built my house I set it up for solar , due south. I ran empty conduit from roofline to basement to accommodate installation. A Sunrun team met with me at Home Depot on a Sunday afternoon. They set the appointment for inspection and quote the very next Tuesday. I received a confirmation call from the Sunrun Rep that same Sunday night. 20 minutes prior to our scheduled meeting the Rep called me saying she had another appointment could we reschedule? She was the one who set the appointment so I was surprised but agreed. The next appointment she set she didn't show up either. If you fail during the sales process I can't image how bad the installation would be, I moved on. read more

Don't do business with these guys. Their business practices are unethical. They are in such a frenzy to advertise sell and install they could care less about the customer. They installed solar panels on my roof less than 3 years ago and I'm now have a leak. I've had 3 different roofing contractors come out to give me estimates, and they all told me the exact same thing. The type of roofing used on the section of the house where the panels were installed was improper and the solar installers are obligated to notify the homeowner of this in writing before installing. Rather than telling me my roof had issues, they just went ahead and installed over 20 panels on it. Now a couple years later, I'm dealing with leaks and they are simply brushing me off because the installation itself did not cause damage. I'm still investigating california laws on solar roof warranty, but at the very least it's clearly unethical business practice which they are completely unapologetic for. I'm having to pay another company 4K to remove and reinstall panels so I can get my roof replaced. If your considering solar I strongly suggest you look for another provider. read more
