I would think twice before going with Sunrun for Solar panels, it's difficult to reach anyone that can offer solutions when the panels are not producing. My bill with Edison will be $9,000.00 for 2022-23, and all they would do is offer me a "large" sum of money to stay quiet and waive my right to future energy problems and any class action law suits. It was a slapping in the face when they offered me $3,000.00 with no solutions to my panel problems, it was discouraging. I have 55 panels and 3 inverters and the only solution was to sell me more panels, as if I had enough room on my roof for more panels! To sum it up, the customer service can't offer solutions, now I'm stuck with these panels till my lease is up in another 11 years. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM SUNRUN EVEN IF COSTCO BACKS THEM THEY ARE NO GOOD!!!!! I purchased my system in December of 2017. The installation went well and everything seemed ok. This changed drastically when I needed service in September of 2020. Here is there number I suggest you call and see if you can get through (855-478-6786). I am not exaggerating it took five hours of waiting to get someone online that could not help me. I was able to send them an email finally to request help. They replied with a note that it would take 2-3 business days to respond (so far so good). This was on September 29, 2020. I should also note that I found out the system was down because I received a $350 bill from Edison so there is no way of knowing if the system is even working unless you religiously check their app, but I digress. Finally days later as stated they finally came back to say that I did in fact need service. They said please wait another 3-5 days so we can respond to this request, huh?!! in 2020? lets get real here that is right out despicable service if I were to just stop there, but there's more. On 10-2 I sent an email just saying I had not heard from anyone yet seeing if I could get a response. The response was we have until Oct 7th to respond. I waited until 10-7 and you guessed it no response. So on 10-8 I reached out and let them know this is taking too long and knowing that I am wracking up $350 power bills every month while I wait didn't help. Then I get an email that says thank you for your response and they schedule a service call for 11/06/202 which is about six weeks wait for service from the initial request. WOW!!! So I called three times and waited through their horrible automated system to try and get service and asked for them to please give me any open spot regardless of when. I was told they gave me the first available spot. Ok so I wait. Well today 10/28 they cancelled my spot on 11/6 and due to roof leaks or something and said I should be happy that they are serving other clients needs and they would do the same for me if my roof ever leaked. WTF???? You don't even answer the phone!! Laughable. So now my service call is scheduled for 12/08/2020. HOLY HELL!!! Why is this happening. I should note that I have been in the service industry my whole career and this is a complete failure!! 1- you don't pick up the phone 2- you don't respond to emails 3- you don't service your customers I bought this from Costco and called them to let them know the issues. I did buy this because it was at Costco and for no other reason. I paid full price and didn't finance so I'm out 30k for a system that is just keeping my roof shiny. If you have read this please beware. Costco has nothing to do with your service and although the installation went well in the beginning. Now when I no need Sunrun they are nowhere to be found. This has been one of the worst experience. I have been in contact with every case manager and none of them have been helpful. I bought my house July 26 new build. Waited the three months for it to stay to find out a brand new system was installed wrong. Had to Waite a month in ahold for them to figure it out. November 15 2023 was when it was installed. After talking to one of the case manager I was told don't worry about this month for the inconvenience. Then I start getting calls that I'm past due. After calling they said sorry and have email saying don't worry we credit your account you will just owe us $100 for January. Paid then they set up auto pay without my consent and then try to charge $134. After calling throughout the week they said we see the email I'll get back to you. Next week more called and text for past due. When I paid what I was told . Finally February I had enough nobody calls nobody has an answer. I was belittled by an associate telling me it's just 134 and 01 cent. Wow they have that on record with the supervisor listening nobody called in apologize nothing . I have no problem paying my bill but the broken promises and having me waste countless hrs to get them to cover what they offered. I had enough and paid the 135 because they clearly don't have any customer service etiquette. Guess what they did it again double charge me and try to set me up on auto pay without my consent. This is just horrible customer service and I feel they haven't installed it right because my bill is still way to high with Edison. I would love to give them negative stars. Sunrun has the worst customer service ever! We took over a Sunrun lease on a residence purchased and what a nightmare. The contract read you could buy out the solar for fair market value but what they forgot to mention is you need to take their word for whatever value they list in their email as they refuse to provide any type of third party appraisal and call this information internal documents. Also, my solar stopped working completely 2 1/2 months ago and they said it will take another 2-3 months to repair it. I asked to speak with a manager and they refused! Technician also mentioned part to repair would be overnight and their customer service lied and said it would take 3-4 weeks for part to arrive. If there is a negative rating, that's what I'd give to Sunrun, a minus 20. They repeatedly approached me when I'd shop at Costco. Since I used to have high level of confidence for Costco, I eventually buckled and talked to them. They promised efficiency, high quality product and services. I was told that the City might be the only delay possible. Instead they were. They delivered the WORST, most INCOMPETENCY and indifference I have ever experienced. Their left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. There was no coorindated effort to get anything done. The contract was signed in the 1st week of April in 2023. They 5 times FAILED to deliver the necesssary drawings to meet our HOA requirements. (More than 1/3 of the neighborhood already have solar installation.) By the middle of September, there was still no corrective actions. In the meantime, they told us that we needed to spend $2,800 to upgrade the electrical panel, which we did. In preparation of the installation, we also spent some $22,000 to buy a heat pump and all the stuff that goes with it. By the end of Sept, we found out we had to relocate due to job situation. Informed them we need to cancel the contract due to their failure to deliever in a timely manner and we had to sell to move. Suddent they increased the $2800 to $3000 as the result of contract cancellatiion, citing we were to be blamed. In the meantime, there was no indication that they'd come thru with the correct drawings for HOA in foreseeable future. Then we never heard from them until 2 weeks ago. Now they are threatening collectiion agency if we didn't pay up. They also claimed that it was not in the contract that they needed to meet any delivery date. Use them at your own risk, and only if you wish to start pumping high blood pressure meds in order to deal a company of fools, non-achievers, and incompetents, and I am trying to be civil in the descripiton for the sake of the public. read more

We had our solar installed in September of 2018. Two years later a Sunrun crew appeared at our house to install a new control box, no warning, no explanation. We had gotten two vague emails about "washing our solar panels", but come to find out the system had failed, Sunrun did not tell us, we had no warning. It was a the hottest part of the summer/fall, the system was not performing - THEY knew it but we were unaware. Had we known we would have managed without the a/c, but Sunrun did not have the courtesy to alert us. Then comes our true-up bill from SDGE for almost 600.00 as opposed to the year before, which was 68.00. They issued us a credit for 144.00. Sunrun screwed us over, they care not about customer satisfaction, only profit. And in trying to get some satisfaction, we found out that the PUC does not monitor solar companies, there is no watchdog agency for solar, so Caveat Emptor, folks. Now we find we need a new roof (the solar installers told us in 2028 the roof was "great") but Sunrun wants 4,000.00 to deal with the panels while the roofers work. Again, Caveat Emptor. We have had a fantastic experience with Sunrun these last 12 months. Pro: - Sales Rep was honest, had facts, ran all scenarios, and didn't resort to trash talking other companies - Panels: The look sleek and it's hard to even tell they are there. - Install: Workers were on time, did thorough inspections, and cleaned up all messes - True up: After a year our true up was $10, which is even better performance than estimated. Con: - Project Coordinator did not have the best communication but our Sales Rep stepped in to make it right and we got it all right in the end. I signed up for solar energy when Vivint Solar owned the business and was always satisfied with my solar system and energy production, which was enough to zero out my electricity costs for the year. Now I don't get a monthly bill in the mail and don't know what I'm paying for or what happened to the credits I was receiving from SDG&E for the excess electricity my system produced that was pumped back into grid. read more

The also installed equipment in the front of our water front house making it lookm like trailer trash and nothing has been done. Sunrun damaged our roof and never came back to fix it, after waiting for more than FIVE weeks. Every time they schedule an appointment to fix the broken tiles and roof, they canceled at the last minute pushing us weeks and weeks far. I requested to talk to a manger but I never heard back from them. My neighbor has a solar system installed by another company after Sunrun installed my system with two weeks and he has the service up and running now while I'm still waitMing for fixing my roof and inspection. This is the worst company!!! My system was under performing back in November 23 I called Dec, Jan (5 times), Feb 4 times with nobody coming out to check on my system since it was producing around 25kw compared to the normal 90-95ks and they said it was fine ... (I have 58 panels). I paid for an outside person to investigate and he told me that one of my two inverters was bad. The repair Cost 3-5K. I reached out again to Sunrun to let them know this information with ZERO response. Then the system failed completely within a couple of weeks and at that time they came out Mar 5th to tell me all my panels were fried. I have been trying to get them to fix the system since March 14 when a tech came out and took pictures. I am told it is engineering and should only be 1 month, 2.5 months later, no word on what is happening and I call every week (2 times) about 25% of the time someone calls me back just to tell me the escalated the problem with NO results. I have contacted an attorney that will sue them for the repair but I want another company to be do the work. This one is a known loser. read more

If they are to replace broken panels, they will delay up to 8 months to replace those panels. If you have a guaranteed output amount and you dont meet it due to broken panels, they will refund you, only after you constantly call them, a measly $10 even though your production might have been 100's of dollars off, they will only give you $10!!! Me reading all the reviews is making me pull out of the installation. I got a realtor/sun run agent that our sale rep. We are getting panels and a battery. Hearing all the horror stories about free/installations/ tru ups/ etc etc. when it's to good to be true it is. It's free now but you'll pay at the end. If you pay 180 a month ppa or lease do the math that's around 53000 in 25 years. Lock in price with a 3.5 increase in those 25 years. THE CUSTOMER WILL ALWAYS PAY in the long run. The Sun run reviewer responder will say thank you for reaching to us / we apologize/ we our concern with your worry stfu. It's all about money you take the incentives. Is it all about customers savings stop it.. it all about commission. That why sale rep are aggressive / customer service sucks /all of these horror stories about installation/. Number 1 solar company in California NOT with all these negative reviews. This is a a world of capitalism. It's been all about money not about your savings not about your concerns. The government should put in place laws about selling solar panels. Because all these companies are just looking for money not the well being of there customers. Sunrun is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I had Sunrun install our solar in 2018-2019. We were promised that our solar production would supply our home plus extra due to the fact that I was in the process of adding 730 square feet to our Home. Well, within a year, our solar went down due to wrong installation. Then another time for software programming of something. Then this year the battery back up is now bad. Only 2 years!!!! Now the real kicker is that last week we received a bill from SO. Cal. Edison for over 1,000 dollars for over usage of solar production. I about flipped my marbles...or got really upset. I tried calling Sunrun and have attempting to get this resolved but with no results. Our battery is still not functioning and solar production is not were it is suppose to be. Sunrun's service sucks...period. Do not use them or you will be sorry. Solar is overrated and sucks. Also, they are using Covid19 as an excuse for being poor in the service department. Purchased the system in 2017 through Costco and since then the system went down for 9 months in one instance, and 6 months in another instance, and each time we call for service, had to constantly follow up with them to get the system fixed. In the second instance when it went down for 6 months, the service tech came out to fix but it happened to be raining that day so SunRun said they had to come out on a different day to fix. Had to follow up with them with several different service advisors and escalated to managers, and they finally came out to fix ONE MONTH LATER. For the loss of electricity production, SunRun indicated since it was purchased, it was not their responsibility so they take no accountability. Horrible customer service! The install was a complete mess, they went into our neighbors yard without letting my neighbor or myself know this was going to happen. When my neighbor confronted the installer in his back yard (he had no idea who this person was) the installer got into a heated argument with him. My system stopped working after 2 months and it took me 5 months to get someone out to fix it. The entire time I had to pay Sunrun as well as my full PG&E bill and I can not get my money back from Sunrun for another 18 months. AVOID SUNRUN! So I had the salesman come and give me a quote he said they are one of the biggest companies for solar and they are very reliable so we signed the contract every other company said we needed a panel upgrade but he said we did not, the sales man also said he would be point of contact and would be there every step of the way a few days later and there is a new point of contact which there is barely any contact with her. They said also that permits take the longest but as soon as they are approved it will move fast. On July 13 the city recieved the application and on the 14 the city let them know that there was minor corrections fast forward 3 weeks I heard nothing from Sun run so I called the city to check permit stats and the city said they were waiting on Sun run to pick up the corrections and at that point they have not. I called my point of contact after a few days she finally got back to me and said she would look into it. She finally got back to me and said the department that handles it got the corrections I called the city to double check and they did not pick them up yet. So finally on Aug 23 Sun run turned in corrections and on the same day they were approved I have been trying to contact my point of contact and I think I'm being ghosted by her. I'm super frustrated at them for taking so long and not getting back to me. I don't think I would recommend them to anyone. I feel they have you sign contract and after that oh well. read more

Sure, maybe the price has gone up since we bought panels 7 years ago, but that doesn't justify his arrogant attitude. We lost the sweet period to get them installed BEFORE April 15th. -All thanks to SUNRUN and their nice, polite, smily and useless JON SORIANO, who was hiding. I realize this company took over vivint, however.... I have questioned the billing forever after the salesman tricked us by playing agai st all our neighbors. Promised rates would never go up. Then they underestimated our usage and had to add more panels and controller. They threw in a battery backup. A few months ago, on a weekend, we lost power to a section of my home on a Saturday. They could not send anyone and told me to hire an electrician. If there was a problem with the system, they would reimburse me. The Electrician found a loose connection spliced from the battery breaker. No documentation of the installation anywhere. Calling them about the reimbursement sent me to phone loop hell. No resolution on the 675.00 I paid. Then, on top of this, they derated my panel by 50 amps causing the main breaker to get hot. 6000 later for a new panel. The electrician said it was a horrible install. Don't use them. Stay away. read more

I did not choose to associate with Sunrun. There was leased solar on a house I wanted to buy and I bit the bullet. They have bottom-of- the-barrel customer service. If you like sitting on hold for 45 minutes, Sunun is your choice. The receptionist told me that she is the only one in the whole company, which explains the hold time. I needed to get the panels removed and replaced for a roofing job. Ok, fine, panels removed, roof finished, I need to get them re-installed in a timely manner. NOPE. Have to wait 3 weeks to get that done. The worst part is that I extended them a courtesy by allowing them to store their panels in my garage, so I have panels in my way for 4 weeks. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY LIE AND HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My husband and I went with this company and have had nothing but problems, we specifically told them there was a chance we would be moving to a different city within a 50 mile radius in the next 12 months and if we signed a contract and got the solar would we be able to have the solar uninstalled and reinstalled at our new home. The sales representative said yes absolutely! So, a few months pass and we find out we are in fact moving and we call to tell them and it is at that time they tell us that they cannot uninstall and move the panels to reinstall. That we either have to pay for the solar panels or the contract will have to transferred to the next buyer. Of course we tried to tell them that the only reason we went with them is because they told us we could take the solar with us, and they said that they never told us that. So we were in the process of selling our home and we had 3 offers on it, our realtor reached out to ask for our solar contract to provide to the potential buyers, we provided it. (Come to find out they never put the price of the solar in the contract they only verbally told my husband the price of 19500.00 when they went through the documentation with him.) So we called SunRun to see how much was the loan for the solar panels and they stated $50,000 (this is outrageously overpriced and we told them that we never would have agreed to that price if they would have told us it was that much). However this price is nowhere in the signed contract agreement and they told us they are legally holding us to it. My husband asked to speak to a manager he waited on the line for 90 minutes and then was hung up on, he called right back and someone new answered and said they the other person had left for the day. So we called the next day and they refuse to transfer to a manager and refuse to talk to us about the price of the solar system and the fact that it is not on the contract. We lost 3 potential buyers. Our house stayed on the market for 8 months even though we received multiple offers because they refused to work with us on the solar issues and the price. Finally we got an offer an the buyers agreed to take over the contract. Then on the day we were scheduled to close it got delayed because Sunrun didn't fully process the paperwork to transfer into the new buyers name, even though they had all the required documentation. It pushed out the closing 10 extra days. This is just a terrible company and I am pretty sure based on there actions that they are operating illegally and are claiming fraudulent information. And here we are, 12/21/2022 and still no resolution from Sunrun. I have had multiple people contact me, only to pass me off to yet another "case manager". Multiple phone conversations, multiple emails, and nothing. "Oh, we will send you a claim form". No claim form received. They have now stopped responding to my emails, and here I am with a $32k invoice for the cost of the roof replacement. The roofing installer supports my claim that Sunrun damaged my roof with a shoddy implementation of the solar panels, and provided evidence that holes had been drilled, but not used, and left exposed allowing water to leak into my house.
