After he left she walked over to me with terror in her eyes. When the door opened up she hid behind my back. That's how scared she was. I was dying inside. I felt so helpless. Then the door opened again and the vet walked in. He took on look at her and said, "looks like she needs another shot again"! He showed no compassion at all! He gave her another shot that knocked her out. Her blue eye was spinning round and round! I was heartbroken and still am. If I had waited one more day I would have had my regular vet, Dr. Hargett. What a compassionate man! He even took the time to look up how many calories were in my dog food, and told me about 1-800-pets. I didn't want to lose him, but I knew I would never be able to walk in there again. How could a vet be so cruel? Maggie was family! I miss her so much.

I had been going for many years to Hickory Flat Animal Hospital, around thirty. Julie Partin was…read moretop notch and I was sad to see her retire a few years back. I continued to bring my pets there to keep up continuity. Dr. Friedrichs was my vet of choice, after Dr. Partin's retirement. Although he didn't have the extra credentials of Dr. Partin, he was great. Unfortunately, the last time I made an appointment for routine wellness check, when I arrived, was seen by a substitute vet. Apparently Dr. Friedrichs was no longer at HFAH. The substitute was friendly and professional and the dog liked her, however I was disappointed. They also have no Saturday hours, which doesn't affect me, as I am retired. I guess it's just what it is, but I finally made the decision to leave HFAH and find a different veterinary practice.

I realize that prices are higher than ever for everyone but these prices are more about profit than helping animals and their owners. The newest example is a $27.75 tech fee to give my dog an injection. They also started their own online pharmacy so now they won't answer requests from other online pharmacies. They also won't price match. I tried saving money by looking around online but now that doesn't matter. You can go by and pick up a prescription but then you have to mail it to the online pharmacies so that takes forever. I have no problems with the care my dogs have received but I feel like it's more about profit than my dogs well being now.

Comforting in our time of despair…read more We all get intertwined with our pets to the point of them not being pets anymore. There is a loyalty and love that only an animal can fulfill. That being said, when our cat of 17 years had a major health issue, we knew it was time to end her suffering. We had only recently moved into this area, so we were referred by a family member not long ago. Thank goodness for the referral because otherwise we would've just picked something from Google or Yelp. Well, the Foothills location for Wayside isn't on Yelp for some reason, so here we are. The major health issue happened over the weekend, and the closest 24 hour emergency vet's office is about 30 miles away. We were able to comfort our cat enough to where we could wait until Monday morning. It was rough, but we made it in to the office first thing and Doctor Neff and Josh were very comforting given the circumstances. They both were very forward and honest about what would happen, and gave us the option to stay or wait outside. We chose to stay and be near our cat, which is rough but honest and blunt. To say that the folks in this office were comforting is an understatement. Anyone that has been through losing a loved pet understands that you don't want hoops or hurdles at this point. You just want there to be no more suffering or pain. Both Doctor Neff and Josh were exceedingly helpful and quick. They cannot be thanked enough. We will be back with our other pets under hopefully much better circumstances in the future.
