We have spent our winter vacations from 27.12. to 3.1. in a 4-bed vacation home in the Sunpark. Because the most guests were rather French or Dutch speaking than German, I've decided to write this post in English. Only after booking we read a lot of bad critique about the Sunpark Ardenne. Thus our expectations were very, very low and we almost thought about cancelling. For assessing the Sunpark it is important to say that we are 2 adults, 2 kids with an age of 14 resp. 15 and a shepherd dog. In the following I'm describing the points that were important for my family and me. The vacation home: - the house was clean and well maintained - the heating system was sufficient (although a manual for the controller was missing - so it took us some time to adjust the room temp) - no dish washing machine (just mentioning, not important for us) - the toilette is not heated and we almost froze our asses off ;-) and I had to read my books outside the toilette - the bath with shower is heated Winter service: - The Sunpark informes on the web page to bring snow chains for the car. This tip is not exaggerated. Don't come with summer tires in winter! With our snow tires it was already difficult to climb up the streets inside the park. The streets were not fully cleared from snow and not always salted. This could be done better! Although snow chains were at this time and for us not required. Some stairs between the houses were covered with ice and some street lights off... this was especially in the dark a serious safety issue. The housekeeping could be improved. Park Center (no smoking, no dog allowed) In the park center everything is under one roof: - well-assorted super market and every day open (sundays, 1.1. etc) - there are three restaurants: one with buffet, a pizzeria and a fast food corner. But they are opening late. When being hungry between 3 and 6 pm you could only get a pancake or icecream in the bar/café. - wireless network access is available free of charge, reliable and fast - in general we had the impression that there's to less staff for serving the guests - the swimming pool is surely great for kids below lets say 10 years, however we have only visited it once and only for a half hour - the park center was clean and well maintained as well read more
