There are many wonderful old buildings and parks as well as shops and pubs within a reasonable walking distance including train and bus stops. These are extremely helpful as Manchester taxis seem to think they can charge London fares. :p I suggest if you don't have your own vehicle use the bus and for £4 ride all day on any bus to any destination. As for the inn itself, it is just a wonderful place on all accounts. The staff are polite, courteous, go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and even more amazing they always call you by your first name! The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the complimentary tea and coffee tray never runs out. The bathrooms are regularly cleaned as well and the water pressure from the showers is amazing. For an extra £5 per day you can get breakfast included and I recommend you do. Their Full Breakfast is THE way to start your day. The only downside here is that I have to leave but I will definitely be back next year!

Jon and Lyndsay are a young couple but have a charming old fashion sense of customer service. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, they always remember my mobility isn't too good so arrange a suitable room. The hotel is on the main Kings Road just a few yards past the Harrogate Conference centre. The rooms are spotless and well kitted out. Flat screen TV, free WiFi, shampoo and soap, tea coffee water and biccies all available in all rooms. There is a residents lounge with big screen TV and chilled honesty bar. The garden has a seating area for sunny days which was perfect on Friday for a couple of beers in the sun. They have a very nice breakfast room which over looks the coppice. Breakfast time can be requested rather than being set to strict times like most places. Breakfast itself is spectacular, wide range to choose from with all quality locally sourced ingredients. If you need a hotel in Harrogate then try the Fountains. You will not regret your choice.

I thought she was joking so I smiled at the joke, embarassed silence then when I tried to order a drink I got the same response. At this point I realised she wasn't joking. I'm 50 something, hardly a trouble maker and I've never been turfed out of a pub before! Update Just been back for another visit and it feels like a different place! Much more welcoming! The hospitality by Sue was 1st class, she was warm,friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a delight with every attention to comfort and detail imaginable. The breakfast was a culinary delight and we were only sorry that we couldn't find an excuse to stay longer. We were even conveyed back to the wedding venue to collect our vehicle. I would recommend these premises to anyone. The finest independent B&B we have ever stayed in.
